Overall, the experience was positive and would hire Miguel again. His price was certainly very good (compared to other estimates I received). The work, in general, was good: I needed to have my newly installed white baseboards caulked (about 450 linear feet) and then retouched (for the seams and nail holes). While the caulking between the baseboards and walls looks seamless, a lot of the nail holes and the seams between sections of the baseboard were not smoothed out, so the retouched surface is not smooth. It demonstrates a lack of attention for details. Miguel--who didn't do the work himself--agreed that there was a problem and told us he would call us back to schedule a time to fix things. It's been about two weeks and he hasn't called back. Honestly, since this was a very small job, we didn't really expect him to follow up--if he did, I likely would have given him an "A" overall. The "C" for responsiveness is partly for the lack of follow up, but also because it took a fairly long time to get the original estimate. I think it was a good 3 or 4 days after he came by to actually send me an estimate for the work. UPDATE. A week or so after I submitted my original report, Miguel called me back to schedule a follow up visit. He and one or two assistants came the next day and spent a good three hours touching up the problem areas. It was actually far more than I expected him to do. Not only did he sand the rough spots, but he repainted entire sections of the baseboard to ensure an even look. He also apologized again for the initial problems. Since the entire job was only $300, I was extremely impressed with his willingness to come back and spend as much time as he did. I can't imagine many contractors would do so much for so little. Given this additional experience, I've upgraded my overall grade from a B to an A. I definitely would hire Miguel again.
