Recent Review: Daryl came out to the house within a coupleng days of first contacting him. We had already purchased 2 pallets of flagstone, and had intended to do the patio project ourselves. However, the job proved too daunting! We also wanted some new planters built. Daryl gave us an estimate which included several different finishing options and prices. We chose to have them install the patio with decomposed granite instead of grout, and build three planters. Also inlcuded in the price were 7 tons of fill dirt and 3 tons of crushed granite. Crew came out the following week, spent the whole day working hard and got it all done. We were very pleased with the work they performed.

Recent Review: The work was done in stages. Butch was a wiz with his Bobcat. The project went off without a hitch. However, he did have to come back and repair a leak in the drip system. Not a problem. I was thoroughly pleased with the job, and I'm planning to hire him again.

Recent Review: It started with a friendly, helpful sales person, who worked with me to achieve what I needed within my budget.   After signing an agreement, the worked commenced virtually immediately.     The crew was timely, polite and very professional, but what made this extensive work tolerable was the job foreman, who went out of his way to see that every detail met with my expectations.  He dotted every i and crossed every t.  He was of tremendous assistance in explaining things and helping make decisions.  By the time they left, they were family. My pool was left in great condition, which was one of my main concerns with so much going on around it. The entire property was perfect when they were completed.  I have an awesome warranty on the work should I need it. The owner of the company came out several times during the project and made sure that I was satisfied with every detail. To be honest, I was overwhelmed by what was needed to improve the value, aesthetics and functionality of my property, and being a widow, I was concerned that I would not be happy with either the pricing or the logistics of making all this happen.  Outdoor Xscapes exceeded my expectations from start to finish.  In two short weeks they turned a non-functioning yard into a Garden of Eden from front to back and in between.  It is going to be a piece of cake to maintain too.   I am so pleased with everything it is unbelievable.   BTW I am a retired CFO of a Publicly-held company, so I know value, efficiency and excellent customer service when I see it.   Thanks for a job well done.

Big Mike designed the layout.  His crew was professional and did the job properly, according to specs.  He turned an essentially barren, unused area of backyard into an attractive, useful area.

It was a pleasure to work with Angel, Juan and Luis - they are friendly, accommodating, and professional.  On the first day, they worked diligently to complete the job in under four hours.  When they returned the second day, they completed the job in under two hours.  They worked very hard and did an excellent job.  We intend to have them back to plant shrubs and complete some additional yard work.  Two green thumbs up for Desert Mountain Landscaping!!!

AGreen & Trim Landscape
We used Green and Trim in the past, to re-do our front yard, and when it came time to re-do our back yard, we thought of him first. We did get three bids, but Green and Trim had the most attractive total package. Daryl was extremely responsive, understood our ideas and plans, and got back to us rapidly with a bid, which we ended up accepting. His team started work on a Monday, and finished mid-day on Wednesday, completely transforming our sad back yard into a truly lovely space, with the work turning out exactly as I pictured it. They ripped out the overgrown weeds, ground down two palm-tree stumps, laid a new paver patio extension, installed a paver border, installed new decomposed granite around the existing trees, levelled the yard, repaired the sprinkler system and ran new drip lines, and laid approximately 1,000 square feet of sod, completely transforming our space. I have never been so delighted with a job as I was with the work done in our yard.

CHarper's Nursery & Landscape Co
Front and back yard landscaping and new irrigation system.  The men who did the job were hard workers, polite and acted like gentlemen.  They did what they were instructed to do by their superiors.  The job was done during extreme heat, July 1-3, 2013.  Some of my own plants died because the irrigation valves were not set up properly.  I couldn't figure out what was happening at first but the system was watering where there were no pots/plants yet and not watering the plants that I had already installed myself.  Some things were not done as spelled out in my contract such as the 2 different sizes of decomposed granite that were supposed to be used.  Mr Harper said there was no such size.  Then why was it specified in my contract if there is no such thing?  And if too much granite is ordered it will be used, not taken back and credited to your bill.  I chose not to have Harper's replace the dead trees because I felt I could get better trees for the money I was paying and I just wanted to be done with the job.  I specifically explained to the designer, Mr. Mike Hans, the problem I had with flooding in my back yard during extreme rainfall. I had a swale with river rock already in place but it was 26 years old and much dirt had filled in around the rock over the years.  My yard flooded even worse than it had in the past when we had a torrential downpour in July.  In my opinion if the original area had been retained, dug out and the rock replaced and less granite had been used by my cool decking the yard would have retained the water better until it was able to percolate down into the earth.  I will be hiring someone else to correct and finish the job.  Mr. Harper and I did not see the job through the same eyes so there was no reason to keep working with one another.

CSara Jacoby Landscape Design
I'd say overall, not too well. Firstly, I chose Sara since she had been highly reviewed by others on Angie's list. Secondly, her schedule was full, so I had to wait a month to have her come to take a look. I thought, well I'm willing to do that if she is the professional I thought could help me out. Her first visit was brief and she left, I felt, with a good understanding of what I wanted; a complete plan that I could implement on my own. I needed her design and layout expertise. On our second meeting she presented me with a conceptual layout, which was a beginning, I thought of something that would develop into a complete design. There were awkward moments of conversation during both of our meetings, almost like she was not interested in doing the job. She gave me some good ideas verbally which were helpful and implementable, but other suggestions that she made were not as good, such as using plantings that would be inappropriate because they could not stand up to reflected heat from my decomposed granite. After she left, I sent her a check to cover her expenses up to that point, knowing that she was not the person that I wanted to work on the design. Too bad, since she is a pleasant person but we just did not click.
