Recent Review: John took a real long time to make our guest cottage presentable and I would have thought nothing of that if the quality had been good.  He kept putting me off and promising me that he would show up and perform and would not perform time and time again.  He continually asked for money upfront and then would break most every promise to perform.  The quality was continually rushed with little to no care for the quality but just to get it done.  Much of the work he did will have to be redone.  He continually talked about himself and all the wonderful things he was doing for others in the community.   Next time, I just want someone who doesn't spend the time talking about what they have done and what they will do and just do the job at the level of quality that they would want some other handyman working on their home.  If he is honest,  he would admit that he would not be happy with the quality of work done on our guest cottage and would be aware of the many, many times he made promises that were broken.  He would also provide a copy of all parts purchased on my credit card. I would not recommend him to anyone who is in a position where they have to trust a handyman because they lack the skill set to evaluate the job being done.    If you know construction, and have the time to sit on the site and watch his work and how he spends your money at the parts store, then I would say, you are in much better shape to get what is right and just.  Oh, and what ever you do, do not pay him upfront! Update as of June 2012, I have water leaks in the kitchen and in the bathroom and had to pay to have a plumber redo John's plumbing.  The leaks were discovered by my  first house guest to use the cottage since John's remodel job.  One of the windows John installed also had to be redone last week.  The window  had to be  taken out by a licensed construction company and that was when they discovered there was no supporting material for the window and an existing pipe was cut to make room for the window.  This window John installed was done recklessly  and without a conscious to doing the right thing from a handyman standpoint for a customer.  The cost keeps racking up to correct the work John rushed through to do.  The licensed contractor who reinstalled the window told me if he had installed a new window  the way John did, he would have his license taken away .  Would John have wanted this lack of quality of work done to him at his home?  Stop talking the talk and walk the talk.  He really should not be working on anyone's home.

Recent Review: Everything went beautifully.  Her work is extremely professional.  The repairs made the home look like new.  She even selected a replacement light fixture to match the existing décor and installed it.  She kept the home neat and clean while she was working and there was not a trace of her when she was done.  As far as the outside, she bagged and removed all debris.  She took care of the tools that we had provided and left them in better shape than when she arrived.  She is our go-to person for any home repairs or landscape work.

Recent Review: Work was done in a vacation rental condominium.  We live out of state and visit once per year to do maintenance.  Work was completed in our absence in May 2013.  We are getting our first actual look at the results now.  We are delighted with the work Matt and his crew have done.  We had received estimates from 4 different painters, and chose Manning's based on our experience with Matt Manning during his estimate session with us.  He was thorough, professional, and had a large enough crew that we felt confident our unit's rental downtime would be minimal.  His proposal included a complete checklist of all the work to be done, as well as the brand, finish and color of paints to be used.  We paid 50% up front, and the balance after our property manager reviewed the work. We had considered attempting this job ourselves, but the prospect of removing the ancient wallpaper, re-texturing the walls, and dealing with the master bath's 16' high ceilings and 19 separate wall surfaces was too much for us. THE PROCESS: - The work took place over about 2 weeks in May 2013. - Matt and crew worked with our property manager to gain access to the unit. - Matt provided email updates to us, including pictures, every 2-3 days. - The periodic updates gave us confidence that the work was proceeding on schedule. RESULTS: - One of our concerns was that the texturing might suffer after wallpaper removal, but the texturing is beautiful, and matches perfectly the rest of the unit. - The coatings are even.  No blotches or bare spots anywhere. - The edging and corner work is precise.  No spillovers or jagged lines. - There is definite pride in workmanship here. . We feel fortunate to have found a painting contractor of Manning's quality for our rental unit, and we would not hesitate to work with them again for future jobs.
