Recent Review: I had hired Matthew for work in our bathrooms. My wife & I were very pleased with his work. Also, at that time, I was looking for a contractor to replace our 1000 sq ft rotting old deck. He & I got on that subject & I asked if he would be interested. He submitted a detailed proposal of what he'd do along with a timeline. It was very impressive. What was also a plus, he would take a credit card payment. I hired him. I told him I was in no big rush to complete the job as I knew it would take quite a bit of his time & I would be happy to work with his scheduling. The work was completed in reasonable time & the deck looks great. Everyone that has seen it has been impressed. Job well done. Matthew is in deed, a Very Good Handyman and I have in lined up for several jobs later this year. What is most important that I need to add: August/2017, I contacted Yavapai Contractors in Prescott asking for a list of contractors to do this deck job. I was provided with 1 name. I contacted him, he came to my home, took his measurements & I never heard from him. Secondly, several businesses from Flagstaff advertise in our local phone books that they do deck work but when I called them they all said they were either not doing deck work at this time or they didn't come to Sedona. I was also able to contact 2 local contractors. Each came to my home, took their measurements. One I never heard from again & the other (from what I learned from a close friend, sub-contracted his jobs with cheap labor & not good quality work). Personally I didn't get a good "read" when I met with this contactor especially when he told me his wife told him to "make lots of money" as he related to me.

Recent Review: Mr. Fergal Maloney redesigned an existing unsafe deck. Having working knowledge in the building industry I knew what would be involved with reconstructing a new deck, working with Fergal was a pleasure, his work is above par and the deck was very well constructed. His ideas to make the egress user friendly was better than I had imagined. The overall cost was a little higher than bid however I did make some changes to the original design drawings that were not accounted for in the plan. Fergal was more than fair in his bid, he even ate some of the change costs. I highly recommend Maloney construction for your deck needs.

Recent Review: Steve showed up right on time (8am) to give a bid but when he looked over the work that needed to be done he offered to start and complete the Deck work required right then and there. I said yes and he removed the older composite deck up on the second floor right in the hot sun. There were lots of stripped and broken screws that required removal. Steve is fast, honest and professional. He has years of experience which made the job go quickly. After all his work he only wanted $50.00 I gave him $100.00. I feel lucky that I was able to find someone like this and I can highly recommend him!

IGLOO EXTERIORS
Recent Review: Our first mistake was assuming because they did a good job on our roof, they'd do equally as well on our deck. Wrong. It was a nightmare! We had to have them rip up the decking twice because first the "wood" didn't come from the same batch and so didn't match, the second time because of horrible workmanship. This job drug on for months. The first person Jimmy Thompson hired supposedly walked off the job. The second people Jimmy Thompson hired to do the job was his sister and brother-in-law and they obviously did not know what they were doing...nor did he for that matter! An issue arose about the new deck being too heavy so they ended up installing ugly wood supports under it, encased in ugly square cement foundations; they never even came back to remove the wood forms. We had the local building inspector look at the job and he declared the railing unsafe. We got so tired of arguing with this man. We had other contractors look at the job on the days they didn't show up and they affirmed that the job was NOT being done properly. The end result was we just gave up arguing with the man and called his partner back east and reported the shoddy workmanship to him, the ineptness of his partner and threatened to sue. The partner offered to buy back the used decking materials. Since we had only paid the down payment of $5,350 we finally ended up dropping the whole matter. As a result, we now have an ugly, UNSAFE deck and railing. You can move the railing back and forth and with any effort could push it off of the second floor easily. The material product they sold us was supposed to never stain nor have any maintenance but it HAS stained. The stairway they installed leading up on the deck is ridiculous! The railing at the bottom of the stairs begins about 5 feet in the air! Don't EVER HIRE THESE PEOPLE TO DO A DECK!!

Overall, things went very well. He is a meticulous worker and cares about the outcome of his work. He also consulted with me before and after completion of each phase of this project.
