Recent Review: DO NOT USE HOME DEPOT IN HOME SERVICES for your remodeling projects. In January of this year we began a kitchen remodeling project. We decided to use Home Depot for the project because we were told that they would manage all aspects of the project and stand behind the work of their individual contractors. The initial refacing of the cabinets went well except for a couple doors which were put on opening the wrong way and some missing molding. The doors were corrected. The appliances were delivered and installed with no problems. When the tech came to measure for the countertops, we were told that the new counters would be approx. ¼ inch higher than the old ones. This was not a problem. However, when the countertops were installed they were actually 1 1/2 inches higher that the old ones. This left the stove and dishwasher looking like they were sitting in a hole. When HD was informed of the problem, they promised to fix it. The tech came out and fixed the problem with the dishwasher but was not prepared to do the stove. Now three months after starting this project, we still do not have resolution on the stove and missing molding. We are quite disappointed in HD’s lack of response and would not recommend using their services as a result. The cabinets and the appliances look great, but the countertop problem has spoiled the whole project. Had HD delivered on their promises we would have given them a good recommendation, but lack of followup has soured us on their services. See the pictures below to see how HD has left this project hanging for two months.

Recent Review: Shad was recommended to me by a realtor that he had done work for in Chino Valley.  He is an independent contractor with several connections. His work was very detailed and he was dependable.  If he is delayed in coming to the job site he will call or text you.  He removed and installed new counter tops, moved cabinets to make space for a new dishwasher, put  in a temporary counter while we were waiting for the new one to be made, and picked up the counters when they were ready, plus any parts needed.  His price is very fair for his work and reflects your efforts to pick up any parts. (To save time and trips).  His work is high quality.  He is a fair man to do business with and also very personable.  Need a contractor??  Give him a call.   He did fine work for me. Ernest M. Recent Review: They installed 3/4 of my kitchen tops and while doing so, they scratched the fan above my stove and dinged the cabinets in several places. I did not worry about this since I know things happen and I repaired the dings myself. I needed an additional 3 ft. of granite and I asked them to keep the pieces that remained from the 2 original slabs and I would call them when I needed them. They assured me they would put my slab aside until I called. Approx. 2 month later, they sent a guy out to measure. Three weeks went by and I did not hear from them. I called several times and no one got back to me. Finally the owner, Todd called and said they could not find my granite. He thought it had been thrown away. He looked for a piece to match to no avail. He called me and said I would need to buy another slab to get the piece I needed and he would give it to me for $800. Too much $$ for 3' piece of granite. I should not have to buy another slab when he lost my original piece.

We had a few bids and he's the one I chose for knowledge, price, and he was laid back.  He was from Tuscon.  I give him high ratings, and so far, so good.

We saw an ad in the paper for the Selection Center showroom in Nashville. We were interested in remodeling our kitchen and we wanted to see what the cost of doing the renovations might be and also to see if they could recommend how it should be done. We talked to one of their representatives and we were told for $250.00 they could create a plan for our kitchen for us, and if we went ahead with the renovations the $250.00 would be applied to the cost of the job. We wrote the check for the $250.00 and we made an appointment with the representative to come out and measure our kitchen. She never showed. I called the showroom the next day to ask for this person and they channeled my call to her phone mail. She returned the call and told us that on the way to the appointment she had car trouble, and she could not find our phone number. This should have been the first red flag. She apologized to us profusely and came out another day to do the measuring and said that as soon as she had some plans worked up for us she would call us and set up an appointment for us to come to the showroom and see them. When I did not hear from her in the time frame she had promised that she would be ready to show us plans and ideas, I called her. She said she had been very busy and set up an evening appointment to show us the plans so that my husband could be there. When we got there, she could not open the file on her computer with the program they used at the Selection Center. She was fairly new there, and they had used a different program where she had worked before. She had printed out a picture of some cabinets that she had drawn in this program earlier when it had been working. She gave us a copy of it. She was hoping she would be able to recover the file later. My husband, who is a computer technology professional, said the file was clearly corrupted and that it was not going to be usable. She said that she would work on the plans and then call us for another sit down to look at them. Since it was approaching the Christmas season, she said it might be January before she was ready. We agreed with Christmas nearing that this was a reasonable delay and we would be busy until after the holiday as well. The holiday season passed and so did a few months more- we have never heard from this person again. The only reason we haven't pursued the matter with them is that we really no longer want to deal with them. The only thing we have to show for the $250.00 we paid them, is a computer printout of cabinets one one wall of our kitchen. A lesson learned! We will be very careful before we trust another kitchen remodel outfit. To date, we still have not gone back to the drawing board with anyone else.

Doug Van Patten provided a detailed written estimate, started the job when he said he would and finished in the time frame agreed upon.  He was professional and polite.  His work was well thought out and well done.  The price paid was just what the estimate described.

I called 3 contractors to get an estimate on the remodeling we wanted.  Doug was the only contractor that answered his phone at the time I called.  I left messages with the other 2 contractors and they never even called me back.  Doug and his wife Erin came to the house to get the information for an estimate.  At the time I thought I knew what I wanted, but they came up with some ideas that I would have never thought of (which I used).  He gave me the estimate in the time frame promised and also started the job in the time frame we agreed to.  The master bathroom had a small shower and garden tub (which I never used).  We needed a bigger shower and Doug was able to remove the tub and replace it with a beautiful tiled shower.  I did not know what kind of tile I wanted in the shower so I just told Doug to go with and do what you want.  It turned out beautiful and is the envy of the neighborhood.  In the guest bathroom Erin came up with the idea to put a glass tile frame around the fiberglass tub and shower that we were not replacing.  That little feature made a world of difference in the look of the bathroom and really made it look custom.  The lights, cabinets, counters, mirrors, hardware, toilets and flooring were changed in both bathrooms.  The kitchen was the biggest change.  All the flooring was changed from laminate to 18 inch tile flooring.  I was going to replace all the cabinets to a darker wood and to have a couple of cabinets larger to give more of a customized look to the kitchen.  Doug suggested that I have the old cabinets refaced and just replace 2 cabinets for the dimension I wanted.  The cabinets came out beautiful and is just the look I wanted.  All the fixtures, granite counter tops, and back splash are just stunning and went way beyond my expectations.  There were a few changes that I made as the job progressed that Doug took in stride.   During the entire remodel, Doug always made sure that I was able to live in the house with a working bathroom.  Having both bathrooms remodeled at the same time made it a little challenging.  Doug also kept everything as clean as possible during the entire 2 months it took for this project. My husband was not home at the time of the remodel and all he could say when he got home was "this belongs in a magazine". We are both very happy with the out come of our home.   We highly recommend Doug for any construction project you may have.
