Recent Review: Jeffery showed up on time, made his way to the roof of our two story house to inspect the chimney from outside then cleaned from inside. The previous owners of the house had let a lot of soot build up so there was plenty to remove. Before beginning, Jeffery laid down a mat to catch any debris from getting on the floor and had a filtered shop-vac running to suck up any dust. While working, he shared some good ideas about fireplace inserts which we may decide to install at a later date. He offered to repaint the inside of the firebox which I consider the best $10 on home improvement I think I've spent. Our fireplace went from looking run down to practically brand new. Jeffery was kind enough to drop off another can of the special paint at my office a week or so later when I asked for more. I'll continue to use Chimney Doctor for the ongoing maintenance of our fireplace and will turn to them if we decide to have an artificial fire system installed.

FBuck's Chimney Svc
After trying for 3 months to get him to come out, numerious cancellations never would return calls to find out when he could make it etc.The last time we used Bucks he told us that we needed a Y stovepipe connection to make cleaning easier. The first time he came out he said he forgot to bring the part he was suppose to install. He finally came out again and said that needed another part. When we told him at last to just forget it, he told us the stove wasn't safe to use and took all our stovepipe connections with him without our permission, leaving us without any recourse except to wait for them to come back.(considering legal action) After numerious attempts to get an estimate on costs; we never could get them to give us one.The total cost of installing a Y and cleaning our chimney 536.29! We called the company where we bought the stove and found out how much the parts actually costs, Bucks charged us $281.00 for parts, $145.00 for the sweep, and $85.00 for the labor. The actual costs of the parts was $146.00 doubling the actual parts price. Buyer beware!

DBuck's Chimney Svc
This was a huge waste of money and time. This is not, in my opinion, a good, honest professional company. We purchased a home last year with a fireplace. This was the first home we had purchased with a fireplace. We called Buck's Chimney Service after locating them on Angie List. We were really just calling to see if there were anything that we needed to do for the maintenance of the fireplace. We told the phone representative that we owned a gas log fireplace. She recommended that we have Buck's come out to service and clean the fireplace. Bob was here for maybe a total of 10 minutes. He informed us that we had a gas burning fireplace and that nothing needed to be done. He tried to sell us on buying a more expensive system. $65.00 dollars for a 10 minute service call. Nothing was accomplished and we declined the more expensive system. Responsiveness and Punctuality was also lacking. I had to call the company a couple of times in order to confirm my appointment. And on the day they were schedule to come out, I received a phone call from them to reschedule due to a bigger job. They reschedule for another date and time.

ACHIMNEY DOCTOR
Showed up early for the initial inspection. Main job was delayed a bit due to weather -- slanted roof and raining. Scheduled quickly after rain stopped. Weather was clear, 25 and breezy when the work was done on our two-story house. Prompt, efficient, and courteous. Left no mess. We are very pleased.

He came two weeks after contact. Inspected both fireplaces. Cleaned one. Gave estimate on some other repairs needed.

ACHIMNEY DOCTOR
They arrived 15 minutes past the scheduled time, but did call and say they were running a bit late. Immediately got to work. Had drop cloth to protect flooring. Cleaned chimney, and inspected. Cleaned up. Gave advice for safety, and offered options for back wall of fireplace. Provided back plate and installed. Friendly and efficient. Price was very reasonable.

FFIREMAN'S CHOICE CHIMNEY SERVICES
The company scheduled a time to do the work and delayed 4 times before they started on the project. The work was suppose to be completed in one day. After several excuses (wrong supplies, installers vacation, etc.) the job was completed one month from the date it was started. The estimate we received from Fireman's Choice was actually more expensive than another quote we had received. We had decided to go with Fireman's Choice because they were going to insert a larger pipe than our other estimate. Unfortunately, what Fireman's Choice said they were going to do they did not do. The pipe was suppose to be continuous from the stove to the top and double insulated. Neither of these were done. Our mistake was not getting the estimate in writing. Several attempts were made to contact Rex to discuss our issues but messages left with his wife did not go any where.
