Recent Review: I have found "Nature's  Custom Woodworking" through Craigslist while looking for a  contractor for  kitchen remodeling and some trim work around house. This review is my token of  appreciation for work done perfectly! It felt that I'd found the  right contractor after the first few minutes of discussing the project with Matthias. He was very professional, precise, and would explain all changes in details. The price of the  bid  was reasonable, too. Our house was built in 1950s, and we wanted  to improve and  remodel  the  kitchen, but without dramatic change the to overall house style.  Also, we spend  most of our time at home (self -employment, little kids). Our contractor handled these issues well, helping us  make design decisions, and optimizing work time to the  shortest stretch. In comparison with some other home  improvement project we had to live  through, this  one was just a breeze! We had two small issues during the  remodeling and they were resolved immediately. I am so happy with my new  kitchen now!  It is better designed and  has actually, more storage space than before, and at the same time - meets the overall style of the house. I would highly recommend "Nature's Custom Woodworking! By the  way, they also do decks, paneling and siding.

Recent Review: DO NOT enlist the services of David (Alex) Bogard, doing business as the Bella Vista Handyman.  The short version: I had to take him to the Small Claims Division of the Bentonville District Court to recover money I had paid him in advance for materials for a job that he stated would take 10 days to complete.  After 47 days, the job was not even close to completion, at which point I demanded a refund.  When he refused, I threatened to sue him to recover my money, at which point he threatened me with a counterclaim.  I won a judgment against him in Small Claims, and he still owes me roughly $185-200 from that judgment.  If you'd like more information about the case, you can contact the Small Claims Division of the Bentonville District Court and ask about case SC10-91.  If you'd like the longer version of my review, you may read on for more information. I contracted with David (Alex) Bogard, the Bella Vista Handyman, for minor kitchen remodeling and extensive remodeling for two bathrooms on 03/26/2010, a job that he stated would take 10 days to complete.  He completed the minor kitchen remodeling and the demolition of one of the bathrooms on 03/29/2010.  From that date forward, Mr. Bogard came to my property to work for no more than 10 hours in a 47 day period.  Many times during that 47 day period, he stated that he would be at my property to continue work, and never showed up.  Additionally, he stated on two occasions prior to completion that he needed money in advance for materials, an amount totaling $1600. On 05/06/2010, 47 days later, he was not even close to completing the job.  The bathroom that he had started was still in a demolished state and unusable.  As such, he was not even close to starting the remodeling of the second bathroom.  At this point, I demanded a refund, to which he initially complied.  When he refused, roughly 24 hours later, I threatened him with a lawsuit to recover my money.  He then proceeded to threaten me with a counterclaim, stating that he had a signed contract from me that didn't have a completion date.  He thought, therefore, that he would easily win a lawsuit and reclaim his legal fees.  Though Mr. Bogard thought a signed contract without a completion date would exonerate him, as stated in his counterclaim against me, the judge decided in my favor for judgment.  In fact, Mr. Bogard still owes me approximately $185-200 from that judgment.  Again, if you'd like further information, you can reference the case that's still open by contacting the Bentonville District Court and inquiring about case SC10-91.

Recent Review: When I first spoke with Beverly Odom about possibly helping us with a kitchen remodel, I asked about her working process.  She said she would do a consultation, get some ideas, consult again, and then draw formal plans, which we could then view and purchase from her.  After the consultation she said that it would take her a couple weeks to think about things and get back to us.  This alone surprised us, but then we were shocked to wait the two weeks and only receive an invoice for all the work she had not done yet.  We questioned this and she said we needed to pay her in full before she would share any of her ideas with us.  I told her we were expecting to do another brief consultation to see if we were on the same page and wanted to proceed with the formal plans, but she insisted that we pay her up front and that we would be obligated to pay her for her ideas, whether we liked them or not.  This was a big surprise and had not been clearly explained beforehand.  She insisted this is standard practice, but I have worked very successfully with many contractors and professionals of all sorts and have never come across this.  Everyone else has given us a free consultation and estimate, and definitely did not require full payment before starting work, much less before even telling us what that work might be.   She ended up recommending that we work with a different designer and we agreed that would be best.  Then we received another invoice for just the consultation, which included the line, "Your satisfaction is guaranteed".  We were not satisfied; felt we'd received nothing of value, and that she had only wasted our time by making us wait two weeks for a form letter invoice she easily could have given us when we first met.  I expressed this, but she said we had to pay her for her time whether we got anything of value or not.  Our satisfaction was only guaranteed if she actually did any work for us, and since she hadn't done anything yet, our satisfaction was not her concern.  She then said that if we didn't pay within 30 days, she would add a $30 late fee and continue to do so every 30 days after that.  She finished by saying that she was busy, had nothing more to say to me, and then hung up.   It is unfortunate that things did not work out and maybe we didn't ask exactly the right questions about her process up front, but we did try.  We’ve never worked with an interior designer before and maybe their standards are different from everyone we’ve worked with previously.  Even if that is the case, though, I believe that as the professional, it was her responsibility to fully explain herself, her work, her process, and her billing practices to us.  She should not just assume that everyone uses the same "standard" that she does.  We are very unsatisfied, feel completely undervalued as customers, and definitely would not recommend her to others.

FKitchen Tune Up
Horrible Contractor did not get permits before the job or city inspetions after the job. Contractor pre-inspected the kitchen, wrote a contract up, which we both signed, then served us with an intent to file a lean for the extra work that he had to do. And I even paid for some for somethings to be nice to try and help (while the remodel was going on). Attorneys are involved. City is involved, State is involved.   More importanlty, nearly six months later, the job is not done yet and the city has not released my house yet from all the violations he committed.

His name is Randy Cradoct. Our communication with him was good. He was prompt and he was here when he said he would be. If for some reason he could not, he let us know and did not leave us hanging. He was very easy to work with and he was honest. The price was very good.

DJanacek Construction Inc
Based on good reviews on Angie's List, I contacted Janacek regarding a major kitchen remodeling we were ready to undertake.  After making the initial appointment for the representative to come visit, discuss our ideas, and review our structure, we had a very good experience with the appointment.  The person was prompt, professional, and seemed very experienced.  He told us to give him a couple of weeks to draw up some designs but to not hesitate contacting him for status. Unfortunately, after 3 weeks, we started calling.  I left 3 messages with him, with the third being "I will assume you aren't interested in our business if I do not hear from you, so will not be calling again".   As of May 13th, nearly 2 months from the initial visit, we have never heard from them.  Considering another review has had the same experience recently, there seems to be some issues going on with this company, considering pre-2013 reviews seem excellent.
