Recent Review: This went well. We went into it knowing it would be messy and take several days, after we accepted HandyWorks estimate they did a walk-through before work started and explained the impact we could expect, asked about particular items of concern, explained that they would put up barriers and so forth to contain the mess as much as possible and keep it off the wood floors, and set out the initial plan for the sequence of work, understanding cure and dry times can vary. We had a very large area of popcorn ceiling to scrape down with a few odd angles and an adjacent hallway, much of it higher than standard, needed to repair a hole big enough for an adult to drop through from the attic, properly attach the previously-only-nailed ceiling with screws, resurface and paint ceiling, peel grasscloth wallpaper from tall walls and repair and paint walls. We are very satisfied with the results. Watching friends & fam deal with contractors over the years, I'd concluded that no project meets its original timeline and there are always some little stupid problems. There was pleasantly little of that, we had a minor phone number mixup which may have trivially affected the job scheduling and we didn't discover until later, and the job only went one day longer than the plan, which was due to tape pulling off some old paint in a hallway (I've done this before too, happens particularly when prior paint job was inexpert) and HandyWorks matched paint for the repair to make it right and took care of it immediately. Rodney, Fresmenda, Al and the rest of the team were all pleasant to deal with and did a good job, showed up when they said they would and kept us notified of milestones and progress. We paid a deposit of half on the first day and the balance after final walk-through. The final state looks really good. It probably says the most that we started setting up an estimate for a completely unrelated job with Handyworks as they finished clean up and were leaving from this one.
