Reviews in Bauxite for Building a Pool House

AL&H Construction and Fencing
Awesome. They completed the project quickly. Very nice folks that do excellent work. I'm dreaming up another project and they will be contacted to bid on it.

and I couldn't believe how fast it went up. It was a nice job and they were very good carpenters. I am very happy with the job.

I did not use this company; they were reasonable but I found somebody who did a little better on the price. Their quote was for about $3,500. I liked everything about them; they were very professional and gave me a detailed description. I had no problems or issues with them.

ATUFF SHED INC - Little Rock
I built a quote on line first and submitted it. I was promptly contacted by Alan Shepard from Tuff Shed. We emailed for several days the particulars. I was wanting a concrete pad put down first and Mr. Shepard made a couple of suggestions for contractors he has worked with. I called one of them and they worked out perfectly. The Tuff Shed crew came out 3 days later and started constructing the building. They got the floor, walls, rafters and doors in. They came back the next day and finished the roof, shingles, painted the trim and walls. They also built the loft the second day. They were extremely professional and always busy. I rarely ever saw them take a break. I would recommend them to anyone.

James was not punctual.  There were always acceptable "reasons" he didn't make it at the promised time, but he did not call to let us know that he was not going to be there at the time he specified.  The first time he was late (by 4-5 hours), he tried to catch up by working too late (my husband asked him to leave when it got to be 10:30).  The next day he was late, too, and my husband told him ahead of time that working as late as he had done the night before would not be acceptable.  He did finish the shed under schedule:  in 2 days instead of 3.  The work was acceptable--it would rate a C in school. Reinstalling the doors:  he sent door people on a Saturday to estimate fixing them.  They came back with an estimate, and explained that one of the doors could not be done and explained to us the reason.  Because of that, James called with a revised estimate.  We thought we were getting a door company to do the work.  Instead, James showed up and commened that the doors were much more difficult than he had anticipated.  My husband spoke to him about smoking in the doorways that were being taken care of because we are allergic to cigarette smoke.  We feel like this oversight was unprofessional. We got an estimate for putting the ceiling fan back up from another electrician (his electrician had taken it down during the installation of the shed).  James underbid and was going to be here anyway.  He put it back up, but again, taking care of the wiring ended up being more than he had anticipated. The next day we got an email saying that he did not want to do business with us again.   I sent him an email back, and he responded that it was "the money" issue for which he no longer wanted to do business here.  We paid him on time the amount he had bid.  As a matter of fact, he tried to get more for the ceiling fan install than he had bid.  If I were there, I would not have given him more, but my husband paid him half the amount extra he was asking.      We learned something.  Although he presented us with a contract ahead of time, there was no effort, on our part or his, to sign it.  It had a payment schedule, beginning with an amount payable at signing.  I disagree with that policy, but since the job was short, we would have paid that amount at signing and everybody would have been covered.  His estimates for the other two jobs was oral.  We should have asked for that in writing.  If we had gotten that, maybe the final issue would have been covered.  Although the workmanship was average, nothing special about it, or issues with time and smoking would have precluded our asking him back.

We needed a gate made for a small fence, a screen repaired for one window, a mini-blind replaced for one window, a cleaning and coating for the roof of our mobile home and a door handle repaired on a storm door. ?Plus there was some clean out- and-haul-away to be done on a small shed. ?Weather held up the roof work for a few days, but as soon as the weather cleared the work was quickly completed. ?The workers were professional and personable. ?We also want to say good things about the lady who handles their phone. ?She is easy to understand and makes sure everyone knows what to expect. ?We will call again.

CAquila Properties
Although they came HIGHLY recommended and all of our initial meetings were encouraging, in the end it was a nightmare. First off, we were supposed to begin construction in October 2016 but we didn't break ground until MARCH 2017. Every step of the way there were delays, delays, delays, mistakes in ordering items for the construction, etc. The builder and his "operations manager" (his son-in-law) would not return phone calls, texts, voicemails, emails and just didn't seem the least bit interested in our project. We are now 90+ days past closing and have a long list of punch list items and so far only ONE has been completed. The majority of these items are simply due to shoddy construction. I could go on and on about all of the problems and issues along the way AND the one's we are still dealing with. We feel let down, betrayed, and lied to. We were promised a CUSTOM build home but the builder and operations manager rarely even came to the job site and if they did they couldn't get out of here fast enough. There were long periods of PERFECT weather when absolutely nothing was being done at our job site. The builder told us he would be HEAVILY involved and "hands on" because each home is special to him. Baloney. We rarely saw him. Our six month project became a one year project. Now it looks like we will have to hire someone to come in and finish WHAT WE ALREADY PAID FOR!

Recent Review: They did a really good job. I was kind of expecting a bigger shed, but I didn t know my measurements very well. They were very prompt, polite, and they really showed us that they cared about the way they wanted it to look.
