LORENO CONSTRUCTION
Recent Review: We had a garage converted into an in-law apartment for grandma to move in. I am not sure of the footage, just picture an average size one bedroom apartment. We are very happy with the work of Gaeton the owner of the company, he had previously did work for us in the past when he worked for another company. His work is so good we recommend him often. It was a three month job. My mom paid for the apartment so I do not know the cost. I do know he was not a penny over on the estimate when we got the final bill. We would use them again if we had another project come up.

Recent Review: She was punctual, sweet, and very professional. We both had conflicts but still wanted to do this on a Saturday. She called me couple of times to work it out. She arrived right on time. She had her color books with her and she made suggestions based on her experience and our desires. She was very knowledgable. She even suggested alternative colors for master bedroom and bathroom. We bought sample colors for all the colors and made our decision based on how those colors look on different walls at different times of the day. We ended up using one of the bedroom colors as our exterior color but we are very happy with the overall results. Thanks Beth! We will definitely would like to work with her in the future.

Banks Home Building Inc
Recent Review: Because of the size of our job, we had to move out so completion time was important.  Banks Home Building completed the job when he said they would.  They had to remove trees and lay foundation and knock down walls before the actual framing could begin.  all of the sub contractors that were used were so kind-I loved going over to see them and the progress daily.  Home additions are all about budgets.  We signed a contract on a price, and any variance was due to us wanting to add something.  We, however, worked within the allowances Stuart gave us.  I strongly suggest doing leg work of your own before any project, so that you have an idea of what you would like costs.  Contractors, such as Stuart Banks, work with people with varying ranges of taste from inexpensive to outlandish.  You are better off letting them know where you stand in all that-especially when it comes to kitchens and baths-the sky can be the limit, but the purse strings may not! Stuart never went over, and if he did, I am afraid he had to eat it.  I say this with no sense of satisfaction because in all the time I have worked with him, he has become a great friend.  Not only is he great at what he does, but he is honest and forthright.  He has a great family to boot.   I can't say enough good things about Banks Home Building.  I would be remiss if I didn't also mention Mike Ross, Stuarts other half in the job place.  He has an eye for detail and is always there when you need him.  These 2 men work well together.

Recent Review: The Griffins came to our house and took our ideas of what we wanted and turned a very dated area into an unbelievable new look. They began by painting and selecting new carpet (at our request) and floor covering for the once carpeted (yuck) dressing room and bath. They have many resources to call on and got good prices on some beautiful furniture and accessories. We are very happy with the results and recommend this company to anyone who wants an excellent job.

Case Design/Remodeling
Recent Review: The first phase was completed on time with one small problem. When this was pointed out to Case Design and Remodeling, they promptly corrected the problem at their expense, and to our full satisfaction. The second phase did not go as smoothly as phase one. Time was wasted, however, this was primarily due to factors beyond the control of Case Design and Remodeling. When my wife and I registered our concern about the delays, the leadership at Case demonstrated great concern and understanding. They did everything in their power to overcome the problems facing us both and let us understand that they were concerned about us and about the need to complete the project to our full satisfaction. Our experience with Case Design/Remodeling has been outstanding, even though we suffered the delay in the second phase. In business, words are words, explanations are explanations, promises are promises, but only performance is reality. The performance of Case Design/Remodeling leaves only room for profound satisfaction, not only with the work and services performed, but also knowing that we, as a consumers, made a wise choice when we committed to this company. Thomas J. Watson once said: "The toughest thing about the power of trust is that it's very difficult to build and very easy to destroy. The essence of trust building is to emphasize the similarities between you and the customer." When we shook hands with Tom Coan and sealed our contract agreement, my wife and I both felt that mutual trust had been clearly established, that we embraced similar values, and we could, without hesitation, commit to the contract we negotiated, knowing that Tom Coan and Case Design/Remodeling would do the same. Our experience has amply demonstrated that Tom Coan and his company are absolutely committed to excellence and customer satisfaction. The integrity of this company and its people is beyond reproach. It is obvious that the "Golden Rule" is practiced by this honorable contractor. I highly recommend this company to others, and intend to use them again. A third major project is already in the works!

DANDY OnCall Birmingham
First day they came out carpenter repaired all doors but master bedroom. No problems there. Someone ordered wrong doors for master bedroom so they couldn't finish the job as expected and needed to reorder doors. Weeks went by, I called (note that they didn't call me, I had to call them for updates) - "doors are coming" Weeks went by, I called again (I had to call again) - "doors are coming" Each time I called they were pleasant etc. However, I wonder if I would have waited months if I hadn't pursued. The quality of the work on the doors was just ok. I asked for a rubber seal on the bottom for privacy - one side seals, the other has a gap between the rubber and floor. The pain on the door has drips and defects.

Mr. Caudill did an excellent job! He completely re-installed the system, whereas others might have just repaired the one damaged shelf. He also repaired the walls and installed a lock on the closet door. He even offered to fix my front door because there was additional time left over after he expediently and professionally finished the job for which he had been contacted.

On the initial visit, the provider made verbal promises as to the completion date of the project.he said he could have the project done by. christmas and here it is after. christmas and all we have is a gutted out shower hole in our master bedroom. Merry Christmas! As we got into the project, he chose to go to other jobs over ours which further delayed the project. This then delayed the glass provider from doing his job and ordering what he needed. He made promises he could not keep and did not show up on two separate days after we made arrangements to be at home for him to come and work on the project. The provider was extremely nice but not at all punctual. Update: We ended up having to hire someone else to finish the job! No bathroom during the holidays is not fun!

ACase Design/Remodeling
Everything went very well.  The project began the middle of April and ended the end of May.  All of the Case employees were very pleasant to work with and they were very professional.  The sub-contractors did a great job too.  It was obvious to me from the beginning that everyone was interested in pleasing us. We had only one surprise...smoke alarms were added to all four of the bedrooms.  We weren't aware that Vestavia requires this so we weren't expecting it. I will definitely use Case again since there are some other projects that I would like to have done this winter.

CCOUNTER DIMENSIONS, INC
We engaged Counter Dimensions after a lot of research, as they were well reviewed for the type of remodel we planned. We needed to update our "90s" master bathroom, take out the shower walls for a more open (glass) concept and update the attached laundry space with additional storage. The designer we worked with (Tracy Hall) helped us with the planning to realize our vision from the ideas and pictures we provided, but we were very surprised that she did not provide design ideas beyond the actual construction requirements. We were referred to vendors for the lighting, faucets etc. but she did not accompany us to the appointments, so we really felt on our own, and to be honest, somewhat overwhelmed (although it all worked out well!) We never had the impression that she could envision what we were working toward for the whole space, beyond the tile and cabinets. It felt more like a Lowes / Home Depot experience than the "HGTV" experience we thought our budget would warrant. The general contractor that was hired to do the work for counter dimensions was called Lainey, and whilst his team did great work overall on the construction and tile work, the project experience itself was terrible. Some of the issues we experienced were: * The all white cabinetry and tile floors were installed early in the project, but then not covered whilst the rest of the work was done. Obviously, they then got very dirty and scuffed (of course we understood it was a construction environment, but this was symptomatic of their apparent lack of attention to care or detail) It took us days after they left to get them clean * There were two water leaks behind tile in shower, after the new plumbing was put in. Luckily they were able reach the pipes through a garage wall, but we had to insist the designer brought in a professional plumber, as each time we reported it to them we were met with skepticism! * The shower floor was initially so badly installed that it had to be completely dug out and redone. We had pointed out the problems days before, and were reassured by the contractor, and the designer, that once the tile was grouted "it would be fine", even though it was obviously not going to be. * Our Brizo fixtures were taken out of their boxes and left mixed in with the tools and construction, so several were so damaged they had to be replaced. Additionally, we really got the feeling the Team had not worked with these type of high end fixtures (one piece was installed upside down, twice! and they all had issues which required the plumber to come back and resolve) * The brand new washer and dryer got badly damaged being moved back and forth from the laundry room (The Counter Dimensions Owner did replace them without question) * One of the key changes we wanted was to remove the wallpaper (the space was fully wallpapered). The contractor insisted that they would have to paint over it, as it could not be removed "without damaging the walls" (even though this was a line item in the contract). They tried three times to paint and fix the peeling paper, with the designer reassuring us each time, until we demanded that the Owner come and look at it. She immediately agreed it was appalling and instructed them to remove it. It only took them a day and actually looked great when it was done! * The French doors took nine weeks to arrive, and the contractors had already started another project, so the Team had to rush installing them. They were installed well, but were were very stiff to open and close (they apparently did not have time to adjust them as they had to leave before the paint was dry!) It took us a full day of adjusting and planing to make them fit properly Given the scope of the project we had moved everything out of the master bedroom, so there would be space for the Team to stage and work. We expected to be out for the estimated three weeks ("maybe four"), but it eventually took a very frustrating ten weeks. In the end we just paid the invoice and completed the punch list ourselves (with our own plumber), as it was getting unproductive trying to get the designer to act on the remaining issues. Whilst our project was very frustrating, we did end up with the bath remodel we wanted. It was just not the experience we had expected from Counter Dimensions.
