A BETTER SVC CO LLC
Recent Review: Called at 7:30am, Thomas was on-scene at 9am.  Quickly identified bad fan unit and replaced with new fan and capacitor with new parts on-hand in his truck.  Checked coolant and added a few pounds.  Thomas was very professional, honest, knowledgeable and helpful with answering questions.  History: He was on the same work crew that did a larger HVAC equipment changeout in my home 10 years ago.  Impressed and Very satisfied.  A Better Service Company is first on my list for any HVAC work.

Recent Review: Steve came to give me an estimate. He was very helpful in giving different options for the type of new unit and prices for each. The prices were significantly better than those I got from another contractor in town, Banks Quarles. When they came to put in the unit, the crew was in a big hurry and, to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if they cut a few corners. Although I have no evidence of that except that they didn't put anything on the floor and left a large stain on the carpet. And, they left the breaker box partially put together. The company did fix the breaker box and the stain after we called to complain. Overall, I would use them again.

Recent Review: After bad luck with another Heating and Cooling company we called them. They said they wouldn't be able to get to use until the next morning and that coming after hours would cost $70 more anyway! So we agreed to wait until the next morning even though we have a 9 month old at home and were having to use space heaters to keep her room warm. They called back after 30 minutes and said the owner was coming right out! They didn't even charge the extra $70. They determined that we had a bad transformer and replaced it, blaming our digital NEST thermostat for the blown fuse. Once they fixed it they went outside and looked at the unit and realized there was a big leak that would cost about $700 to fix so they said that we should think about replacing the whole unit. We said we would consider it over the next few days but we needed something fixed immediately because this was the coldest day on record! They were able to get the emergency electric heat in the attic to work but insisted on giving us one of their thermostats from the truck because they felt that our NEST and old thermostat wouldn't keep the emergency heat on (not sure if I believed that) so they put one of theirs on. It cost us $126! I would have said no if I knew it was going to be that expensive for a simple thermostat, our NEST wasn't much more then that and it is the latest technology! Anyway overall they did a good job, a bit pricey but they did come straight out and they seemed to be knowledgeable about the problem. I do think they were not as knowledgeable about thermostats as you would expect but the actual unit they diagnosed and fixed immediately.

Indoor Air Cleaning & Service Co Inc
Recent Review: Upstairs heat pump unit began freezing up at the suction side outdoor condenser. Turning unit off for awhile and replacing filters kept it running for awhile. It began doing it more frequently so I knew I needed refrigerant. I looked on Angie's list and found several companies with A ratings, but Indoor Air was close to my neighborhood and also had an all A rating. I called and got the voicemail, then as I was leaving a message a got another call on call waiting and it was Rickey Kendrick of Indoor Air calling me back! By the way, this was a Saturday morning around 11 AM, he said he could come by in about an hour and by 12 noon he was in my driveway. I had purchased this house last year and didn't know the history of the units so I asked him if he would do a genral service and he charged me a spring cleaning special for both units even though it was already June 30th. He also found the leak (upstairs air handler evap coil) and charged the outside unit up, and topped of the other downstairs unit. He also rerouted one small run of ductwork. He only charged me for the freon and spring cleaning, he did not try to sell me anything but gave me some quotes in case I wanted to replace anything. He said I could probably get by another year or two with existing setup. This person is a stand up guy and I would highly recommend him to anyone needing HVAC service or installation.

After 10yrs it still works very very well. The capacitors did go out so I can't give them the highest recommendation.

Called because they were given a good rating on Angie's list.  I understood it was the coldest day on record and that a lot of people were without heat and that I would need to wait for someone to arrive.  They told me that it would be around 1pm before someone could make it to the house.  3pm came and went so I called. The lady told me they were going as fast as they could and that a lot of people were without heat and I was no different.  I don't mind waiting but don't lead me on, I should have called someone else if they said they couldn't make it until the end of the day, we have a 9 month old at home with no heat!  I called someone else and they were out in an hour!

I think they are kind of pricey but they are an excellent company. They also fixed something and that was reasonable. As far as the replacement cost, they are about competitive. I just happen to find someone who had a more competitive price. They just wanted to sign me up for a maintenance program. There was a little bit of sales pitch there. I think they really know what they are doing. All the technicians are NATE certified. I think what needs to be fixed gets fixed correctly and it’s not haphazard on how they repair something. I will just call them for a repair again. I read that they are NATE certified and that is pretty important and a whole lot of AC techs are not. I think they are family business and they have been in business for a long time.

I have used this company for many years to service my heat pump. Because this was a routine check-up I did not need to ask them for a quick appointment and was able to schedule for the next week. The dispatcher called to confirm I was available for our scheduled appointment about 40 minutes prior to the scheduled time. When I confirmed I was available the serviceman arrived about 30 minutes later, just before the scheduled time. The inspection include the indoor thermostat, the air handling unit in the attic, and the compressor outside. no problems that required any repairs were found however it was noted that there was some rust on the unit and that the shrubbery around the compressor needed a trim. The entire service visit took a little less than an hour.
