Recent Review: They were on time and always responded promptly to phone calls. We have a long, almost vertical driveway, and it took them a long time to move the dirt from the bottom of the driveway, one small load at a time, up the driveway to the yard. They did a great job; the only problem we had was that we asked them to only put dirt in certain areas, just the areas that needed to be filled in. We wanted to keep as much of the original dirt as possible, because the dirt already in the yard was a better quality than the dirt they brought. They covered the whole yard with the new dirt, and they didn't place the rocks exactly as my husband wanted them placed, and had to come out again at no charge to fix it. They did come back and fix it quickly, though.

AEwing Hardscapes And Home Repair
We had a 25 year old railroad tie wall, Jerry came in and removed it and replaced it with a beautiful curved hardscape wall. My husband and I watched him work and he would step back and look at it and if not perfect he would tear it out and redo it we have been very pleased with his work. Later we had him redo a wood walkway into a paver walkway, also excellent The reason we love Jerry is his attention to detail and consciousness about his work. Also we built a pool and he did our retaining wall for that.

ADavid Gilliam (Trim & Small Home Repairs)
Jim and his assistant came out and knocked out a wall between the living and the family rooms that was a little less than 6 ft. wide and about 9 ft. tall.  He replaced the trim and also brought down the foyer opening a bit (with drywall and studs) to match the height of the newly formed wall.  Painting was not included as requested, but he would have happily done that if asked.  He brought his own tools required to do the job, and went to the hardware store to pick out the necessary material, i.e. beam and drywall).  He also played the role of designer as he suggested things that we did not even think about such as bringing the foyer partial wall down to the same height of the newly knocked out wall.  Jim has seen it all and I have confidence in him that he can tackle just about anything you throw at him.  His costs were very reasonable and actually charged us less than what he quoted with his worst-case scenario pricepoint.

CJEFF BENTON HOMES
Two problems with the home:First, the fireplace vent was routed through the back wall of the house and under a covered patio. The patio area is entirely clad in vinyl siding that the manufacturer warns will melt when exposed to high temperatures. After all of my neighbors with similar fireplace vents experienced siding melting and drooping we asked Jeff Benton to vent the fireplace through the roof and they refused. I have since had the fireplace vented properly at my own expense.Second, the retaining wall in the back yard was made out of poor quality landscape timbers. We replaced this wall with a masonry block wall and found that the timbers used by Jeff Benton were mostly rotten, used railroad ties carfully positioned to hide the damage. Had we not replaced this retaining wall it would have undoubtedly failed prematurely. We asked Jeff Benton to compensate us for inferior materials used in this retaining wall and they refused.

Price was quoted at $4500 for 180 retaining wall blocks (including blocks and labor). They figured on how many blocks were needed, I didn't decide on that number... but it was used to decide how much I was charged. There was a long delay (around 6 months) until we could go ahead with hiring him and completing the project, and in that time we had to pull down another retaining wall for a garage project. Therefore, we had the retaining wall block to build the wall, so only needed labor, gravel, and top block. I assumed the price would be reduced and didn't ask for a re-quote. I was stupid, and I paid the price for it. I was charged $4000 for the project, even though only 114 blocks were required. I have used them before, and the price was $20/block. At that price, there was a difference of $1320, and that was not including them not having to provide the block. After complaining, he refunded $400.... so I paid $3600 while providing the block and getting 36% less wall than was quoted. He tried to blame having to rent a machine, which I didn't ask for (they normally use their own, theirs must have been broken), and which theirs would have been perfectly fine. He made up prices to justify the rest of it but it's obvious it was made up. As for quality, they look nice but on both my walls there were problems. They do not fill the walls all the way up with gravel, which creates problems with dirt going through the walls and with animals & snakes living in the walls. I've had several people that build retaining walls at my property and every one was shocked that they didn't fill them completely. I have also had to dig behind the blocks and found that the fill used was not only gravel but other stepping stones and wall block. I have one more retaining wall that needs to be built on my property, but there is no way I will use them again or recommend them. I got ripped off but it won't happen again.

Fantastic! They showed up on time to do an estimate and again to do the work and the estimate was significantly lower than the other bidder. The team had everything they needed for the job so they didn't have to "go back to the shop for XXXX", They worked through day, finished completely and cleaned up everything when done. Everyone on the team was very friendly and obviously intent on doing a great job. And a great job is what they did. The door is just as secure as the ones installed with the building was built in 1968 and closes perfectly. Can't recommend them too highly. They're great!

They charged $2500 for the brick wall, $1600 for the stone work, and $600 for the brick wall with the columns, I'd say it cost about $3000 for all the brickwork alone. He was very conscientious about giving me exactly what I was looking for, and he worked very, very hard to please me with the quality and creativity of his work in matching colors and such things.

They had to take out all the driveway, build a wall and put the driveway back in. It was a very complex job. It was a very positive experience. They did a fabulous job. We had to have engineers come out because our driveway is elevated 16 feet from the street. We can now walk around the outside of our house. I think it looks really beautiful.

AA-Z Roofing & Contracting LLC
I had some issues with some windows needing replacement, an exterior door that needed replacement, and repair of the interior and exterior wall of a bathroom. The aluminum windows could no longer be raised so they were replaced with vinyl windows. The wooden front door would at times swell and could not be opened. It was replaced with a metal door. The bathroom wall was repaired and sealed with a waterproof enclosure. The exterior of the wall was repaired. Matching vinyl siding was used to finish the exterior. After contacting A-Z Roofing and Contractors, they inspected the job and presented an estimate on the day it was promised. Within a week, the job was started and completed in the time frame as promised. I am very pleased with the workmanship, price and professionalism. I highly recommend them and would definitely use them again.

Excellent work done on our paver patio with three short sitting walls installed on the perimeter of the patio. While some precautions were used to prevent the grass from getting torn up, it wasn't done everywhere and I'm still trying to fix all the undulations that resulted. More importantly, they had the most reasonable quote.
