Recent Review: Very friendly.experience in store went well and for the amount of work was very fair ,and below other places in price such as Lowe's. The work team was a man and two adult sons.friendly.They didn't always show early. There was more work than we believe they thought. Our floor took about two days to remove and plus the removal of all the other of the kitchen.we were told the remodel would take two weeks .took closer to three.the floor was their largest problem.they used product to even out the floor before installing the new floors. But after 4 attempts there are places that are uneven and lifted and without grout. But the owner Chuck Chapman wanted us to get them to redo those areas.we decided against.he did make the team fix things he found wrong on his last inspection.the cabinets are fine. The granite guys that came in did great. We thought there was some lack of communication between the office and there measurements and the work team.It turned out to be not reading the owners notes and his correct measurements. The flooring is a new type of floor and they need more experience in installing and the prep work that goes into laying this type of floor.that is the most disheartening part. The cabinets are nice quality.Granite, great work.Backsplash ,so so.Floors sad.The head of team tony wanted it fix things correctly.one of the workers were upset that my husband asked them ( him) to redo the area that was really bad,and he was angry. So anyway the floor still is not right.but we choose not to have them attempt again, one more time.We were not offered any money returned for the floor not being right. It may be fine if you don't get this product of flooring. And I guess they felt it was fine because they offered to repair it.

Recent Review: From the moment I met Zach I felt good about who I was hiring. Zach was always professional, on time , and very detail oriented. He takes time to do the job right and always took time to answer my questions or explain what he was going to do next. Zach has a wide range of knowledge about home renovation and ended up fixing things for us that we didn't have in our original plan. Zach's helper was always on time, polite and efficient. Zach cares about doing a good job, it's not all about the money. I would hire him again in a second and matter of fact am in the middle of getting an estimate from him for another job I need done. Excellent work!!! Great guy!!

Recent Review: Smithco is a remodeling business run by Paul Smith.. I found Paul when I ask my kitchen designer who is the contractor she would recommend...she said with out hesitation...Paul Smith..I too am a Smith but had never met Paul before this job. Paul came too our home and looked at what we wanted done and then within about a day and a half gave us a quote. The original quote was actually about $1500 less but mainly the extensive electrical ran it up some....for instance the under cabinet led lighting system wasn't in original quote plus a few other things..We were actually going to have to make two different one week trips during the remodeling but Paul was able to work around our schedule ...Paul, himself was extensively involved in the physical job it's self and had two very good young men, Josh and Steve, working with him. I believe these guys have been with Paul quite a while....they were definantly experienced. They started on a Monday morning and I was shocked at what had been accomplished in three days...actually by about mid day Thursday the kitchen was ready for cabinet installation....this included the flooring being down... Paul had subcontractors that he seemed to have a pretty close relationship with for the Electrical, plumbing and sheet rock finishing...I worked thru Coast Kitchen/bath design to design and provide the kitchen cabinets and also Paul recommended the back splash installer who did a good job. I was impressed with how Paul ran things....kept things very cleaned up throughout the whole process. Was very helpful in my decision making on various things....he helped me install my built in microwave which actually saved me $120. He had huge plastic sheeting draped during the job to try and protect the cleanliness of the house....the house certainly still got dusty but not because Paul didn't try. Paul's men gladly moved my existing refrigerator for me. His men and the subs he used were all clean looking guys ....over all, Paul and all were pleasant to work with. Now for the serious stuff.....I had actually got another bid from a reputable local company.....the bid was a little over twice Paul's bid for the same thing.......that doesn't mean Paul left a lot of money on the table because if the overall cost of the project had been any higher than it was.....I likely wouldn't have done it. A couple of other things...they did a nice job of tieing in my outside siding where the back door was removed. The back door that they actually replaced operates very well I actually did all the painting I told Paul at beginning that I wouldn't nickel and dime him and I was sure he would be fair to me...and that's exactly how it went.

AHelp-Around-The-House
We wanted to remodel our newly purchased condo but didn't think we'd be able to afford all the projects we had in mind because of the limitations of our budget. A couple of local contractors in Gulf Shores had estimated a minimum cost of $40,000. We contacted Help-Around-the-House based on favorable Angie's List reviews and found that they more than live up to their great reputation. Dan Parks and his team worked closely with us from start to finish, not only helping us to stay within our budget but also coming up with ideas that were better than what we originally had in mind. All of the work was of high quality, yet it was done amazing fast.  We couldn't be more satisfied with the final result.  We definitely recommend Dan Parks and the Help-Around-the-House team to anyone who wants high quality work done at a fair price.
