Recent Review: It went great. The electrician arrived on schedule in a clean and professional-looking service truck. Then he installed the outlet just the way I wanted it done. As he worked I could tell from my own experience with electrical things over the years that he was an obviously senior level electrician who knew how to do the job right. The final bill was less than the original estimate. I couldn't have been more pleased.

Recent Review: Bobby and Jody were wonderful guys to work with; very professional and have personable attitudes. Work was to start Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 around 8:30 in the morning, and they arrived as discussed. Bobby went over what was discussed prior to make sure we were on the same page, confirmed how it was to be done and the work would only take two days. He also remembered how important it was to us to save a second pocket door for the previous home-owner. Jody got started on the kitchen/dining room wall and removal of the pocket door. He didn't take a sledgehammer and start beating everything in...he took everything apart carefully. After he was finished, he and Bobby took down the living room wall the same way. They reframed an existing partition for the light switches. He had an electrician come in and remove some wiring that wasn't needed anymore and put everything where it needed to be. Day 2  started just as early and involved hanging the sheetrock where the walls use to be and repositioning the heat/air vents. Once that was done, Bobby had his sheetrock guy come in and mud and tape where needed and matched the stipling to the existing ceiling pattern. The stipling was phenomenal and I was very impressed with his work. All of the guys were wonderful and very respectful. I felt comfortable in my own home and conversed with them as I watched. I will definitely be calling Bobby back to do future work for me!

Recent Review: We purchased a large flat screen TV for our living room wall.  Fortunately, our daughter had done so previously so we knew the installers would not do any of the electrical work.  The home theater folks took the time to explain to have an electrician perform the work we wanted which was to have the electrical outlet hidden behind the large TV panel so as not to destroy the "theater look."  Based on the Angie's List reports we contacted G & W.  Side Info:  This is not a huge company with a giant operation but rather a competent small company.  Each time we have called we have gotten the message machine and had our call promptly returned.  So don't expect an immediate answer from a receptionist - an actual electrician is usually who calls back. Our installer listened to what we wanted and worked with my drawings and scribbles on the wall as where we planned on putting the TV.  He went in to both the attic and the basement in order to locate a suitable power line to use and installed the receptacle exactly where it needed to be to stay hidden from view.  And at $150 for time, labor, and materials to have the job done correctly was well worth it. However, what was more impressive was our second call to G & W.  We had lost power in part of our garage and to the freezer in the garage.  The breaker was not tripped so I figured we had a problem.  Also, we had only been in this home for 6 months so we were not familiar with all the utilities yet.  The electrician walked me through several steps only to find that a GFCI outlet had tripped.  He explained that the GFCI protected all of the garage - not just the GFCI recepticle - and to monitor what we installed in the garage so as not to overload the protection.   He had me reset the GFCI and all was reset.  He then told me it wasn't worth charging to come out on a service call if he could tell me how to reset the GFCI myself.  Honesty over $$$.  Who knew?

Their price was good and I haven’t had any trouble with them. I was very pleased with him. One of his crews came with a women and I thought it was a crew member, but later he told me it was his girlfriend. I told them about this incident and they made sure they didn’t send him back to my place. They always come and do things when I ask them to.

CHis and Hers Home Improvement
After getting several estimates, we decided to go with Ben Seguin for three reasons. First, we were told that his company could do all of the work without having other contractors involved. Secondly, he could match the color of our dining room table, which was important to us, and finally, he said the work could be done in 1day which would have had the job completed before Thanksgiving!  Initially, he was going to coordinate the countertop installation, but the company that he used was uncooperative and evasive. That is a long story!  We found another company that was great to do the countertop. Ben was very cooperative and accommodating to our wants and needs. He had very good ideas and was very encouraging during the planning stages. The overall plan was for him to prepare the project off site and install everything in one day. Several delays occurred, some of which were not Ben's fault. However, the project slowed and installation seemed tedious and we missed our Thanksgiving goal. It was understandable that even though this was a fairly small project, there were details that caused a longer than expected installation. But it did seem that communication was lacking and several times he was difficult to reach and took longer than expected, especially with the details. The bulk of the installation was indeed in one day, but he was unable to complete the drawers, glass work, and wood finishing. He had to reschedule and after several return visits most of the work was completed. We actually were not completely satisfied with the wood finish, so we sanded and applied several more coats of finish. The lower pull-out shelf runners are heavy duty and auto-closing, andv work fine. However, the lower shelf construction was a bit wide and scraped the edges of the doors and frame, so he had to adjust and shave the sides. They are much better but we still have a few issues with the width of the shelves themselves. There were 2 additional shelves that he promised us (because of the delays, they were not part of the original quote), but he never completed nor installed them, and has not returned our calls. The upper drawers were out of adjustment but after he adjusted them on a return visit they are now satisfactory. The upper unit is good and attractive. One door on the upper unit and one door on the lower unit came loose from the hinges and I had to reinstall the hinge and reattach the doors. The electrical work was good and complete. Overall the project is attractive and functional. We are enjoying the addition to our home, but there are a few more 'tweaks' that we'll do to the unit to make it just like we want. Ben has good ideas and seems very willing, but might have a tendency to over commit and miss some detail. He's very personable and likeable, but could have communicated better during project.

Charles Anderson performed all the work on the basement wiring by himself.  He showed up as promised right at 8am and stayed all day until about 7 to 8pm, he worked on this project for about two days, and even returned after our vacation to finish a few items.  He was very professional, the price was very reasonable.  We had several other companies come out and one quoted us for almost $5,000 and the other company never contacted us back.  He performed all the work as promised, advised us on how we could save some money on this project by providing our own recessed lighting and lightbulbs.  He explained to us what he did, showed us the finished work, and explained to us how to finish hanging the drywall around the electrical outlets and switches.  He cleaned up after himself and in general did a great job.  I would use him for future electrical projects.

AA PLUS HANDY GUY
I was very pleased with the results. Kevin explained everything well, and knows a lot about home repair/remodeling. He has experience in renovation and can do painting, floors, drywall, etc. At one point, Kevin had questions about the electrical situation and was honest to tell us that we needed a certified electrician to check the wiring. He went to purchase materials for us several times and had all receipts in order. There were no surprises with costs. Project cost above is labor and materials combined.

Excellent job on handicap ramp and blends in well with front of house, have received several compliments on the ramp and how it actually adds to house.  I have to give an average rating on the rest of the job for the following reasons:  installed a wide raised shower threshold which narrowed the width of the shower considerably which makes the shower very hard to maneuver in for a handicapped person and is uncomfortably tight, the drain in the floor of the shower is off center and the tile and lip of the drain cover is higher than the shower floor which causes a puddle of water in the shower and the water will not drain and has to air evaporate, the pocket door scrubs when opening and closing causing the door to be hard to open and close and scrubs the paint off the door and there is a 1 1/2" gap between the bottom of the door and the floor threshold, the pocket door finish is very rough in several places, the paint finish is very rough in several places in the bath and hallway, the bath door jam trim comes down on top of the end of the relocated HVAC vent which causes the other end of metal vent to raise up off the floor and my wife has cut her foot and toe on the raised end of the vent at least twice, plastic or cloth protection was not placed on doorways adjacent to the work area and a large amount of sheetrock dust invaded the other rooms in the house and a cleaning service had to be hired by the home owner to remove the dust, and a different brand of toilet was installed than what was called for in the contract and had to be replaced with the correct brand.  Overall, attention to details was lacking.  The contractor was involved in several other project jobs at the same time which took the contractor away from this job frequently and may have contributed to some of the unsatisfactory work.
