Recent Review: We have a covered/screened porch that had old paint that was starting to chip in places and we weren't thrilled with the color.   We tried to sand the chipped areas and apply a new coat of floor paint, however it started to peel up after a few days.   Turns out the original paint was oil-based and of course just about all paint today is latex.   We tried all sorts of methods to remove the paint and get down to the base concrete surface, including a pressure washer (which worked, but made a total mess). We called DCD and Elliot came out to show us samples of work his company has performed, took measurements and provided color samples.   He recommended grinding off the old paint and applying an overlay, which could be stained just about any color we wanted.   We chose Bronze to highlight our different shades of red brick. Elliot and his crew came out and hung plastic sheeting over our French Doors and porch screens and the dust removal system they use worked really well.   They ground down both areas and applied the overlay in a few hours.   They were very professional and efficient in their work. It took about a week for our paint order to arrive, and once it did, Elliot came out to stain the areas.  He sanded the surfaces smooth, taped off all the edges and applied the stain and sealer.   It was exactly the look we had imagined...different shades, highlights and some of the swirls of the trowel used to apply the overlay. We couldn't be more pleased with the results!

Recent Review: I hired Watershed Underdeck Systems for several reasons:  1.  Greg Boyd came out himself to evaluate my deck and provided an on-the-spot estimate (the others I contacted provided a ball park estimate via email).  2.  His product came with a lengthy warranty (50 years on material, 1 year labor and unlimited on leaking).  2. perfectly matching colors of my house, embossed surface that looks very cool and seamless trim.  The installers, a father and son team, arrived on time and went straight to work.  The were friendly, respectful, conscientious and very professional - hard working self-starters.  They successfully tackled all of the challenges my rather complex under-deck presented, leaving a perfectly installed system.  They worked until evening to ensure the job was done (all in one day), answered my many questions without rolling their eyes and cleaned up their work area to my satisfaction.  It is raining hard as I write this and the system works perfectly.  I couldn't be happier.  I would gladly recommend them to anyone considering an under-deck drainage/ceiling system.  It certainly made my space usable.

Recent Review: The first quote that Stop Leak Waterproofing LLC gave us had some options on it so we went back and they detected some other issues like the gutter issues so we got a gutter company out and then we went back and we didn't think we needed some of the work and they didn't think we needed some of the work quoted and so we just got back from them this back. Their quote is probably more than a middle for the work they will be doing. They were professional, they explained the work and they took time looking at the work that needed to be done. We have been pleased with them up to this point. They are going to do the work for us.

AHandyMan LLC
AndaI lived in south Alabama where getting work done was very unreliable.  Mr. Windham traveled over 40 miles to get the work completed.  I had left the area and had to trust that the work was appropriately completed which my renter did confirm.  Mr. Windham is a man of his word, kept in touch via email (with pictures) regarding completion.  The price never changed, and he was completely professional and thorough.

AHoney Do Helpers llc
Honey Do Helpers showed up everyday on time and was always very professional. I found Brandon and his crew to be very honest and trustworthy. They showed up and got the job done and didn't ask for money until the job was completed and I was satisfied. Since then I have referred Honey Do Helpers to several of my clients and they have all been happy with the job performed.

ATice Construction Inc
Mr. Tice handled this project in a professional manner from start to finish. He returned phone calls promptly, and finished the work on the agreed-upon date. He even suggested that we wait a few extra days for the wood to cure before painting. The result is a beautiful screened porch that should add value to our home. Pricing was very reasonable as well.

ASweet Home Repairs and Remodeling
We have a 12 x 12  deck then 4 stairs to a 4 x 8  running deck that leads to 7 more stairs. The wood was rotten and needed replacement. Last Christmas we had a guest fall part way through some of the decking, It was dangerous to sit on, let alone walk on it. We wanted to go with a Choice Dek composite wood to replace the decking and repaint our hand rail and replace any bad ballusters. I knew the material alone was going to run over 2000 dollars. The first Contractor was way to cheap, beside the fact he was inconsistent when describing how the work would be done, I had a feeling he didn't know what he was doing. The second company was very expensive at 9000 dollars. Then Sweet Home Repairs bid came in at 4500 for the third and final estimate . I hired Sweet Home Repairs immediately giving him a down payment check, signed a simple contract agreement to which he scheduled us in and arrived at the day and time he gave. The work was complete in 3 days and looked better then we had hoped. I would gladly use Sweet Home Repairs again and have plans for other project later. We enjoyed our deck all summer and no one fell through!

ATrinity Renovations
It started when my husband noticed that we had shingles laying in our yard from the storm that had came through the night before. We then called Trinity Renovations because they worked with my parents insurance company when they had storm damage and they did an outstanding job for them. There was a roofing specialist at our home within one hour from the time we called. He put a tarp on the roof because we where afraid it would start to leak. He then help with filing the claim with the insurance company,  he also met with the claims adjuster when the inspection took place.  When we got the check from the insurance comp. it took only two days until they got the project started and finished in two days, They did an amazing job on everything, the roof looks great, the gutters are exactly what we want, and the paint job couldnt be better. I couldnt belive how clean the yard was when they left. They where puctual, professional, and friendly. They did such a good job with everything that we decided to let build  a deck for us. They did a outstanding job on it also. If i ever need anymore home improvments Trinity Renovations will be who I call. There phone numer is (205) 422-9601

ANorth Alabama Builders
It?s not too often that I write about a company to say how impressed I am with their service?but all I have to say is WOW. North Alabama Builders exceeded my expectations in every way possible. We worked the entire project through the company's owner, Brent. I was extremely impressed with Brent and his thorough inspection of the property, existing deck structure, listening to the vision/needs we had for the new deck and execution of the project. Brent continuously updated us throughout the project and stood behind his work in every way possible. The original estimate was very detailed and provided exactly what work we agreed upon. I was happy to see all the details in the estimate and it further provided me with confidence that Brent thought through all the details of the project. He executed exactly as he stated he would. We even ran into some issues with our existing structure (rot underneath a old door) and expanded the scope of North Alabama Builder's work. His team responded without any issues to the additional scope we added. Even with the additional work we added, Brent stayed within the budget he estimated.  Additionally, there were a few details where Brent and his team went above and beyond what was in the estimate - such as painting the internal wall and trim where an old door was removed and replacing some boards in the bottom deck to make it look completely finished. We did not expect this and we were excited to see this attention to detail.  We left Brent and his team with a key since we were not able to be home for the entire project. We never even thought twice about this.  I would highly recommend North Alabama Builders. We were thrilled with the work and would use him again in a second.

ASweet Home Repairs and Remodeling
The work was first class, well thought out and well executed. The use of somewhat exotic material for the deck surface was not a problem at all. Very cooperative and entertaining bunch to work with. They managed all the 'surprises' very well. If and when we extend the deck, they will get the call.

ANew Life Hard Surface Cleaning & Restoration, LLC
New Life is an extremely professional and affordable multi-surface cleaning company. Chuck and Ray did an extremely detailed job on the multiple things that I needed done around my home and driveway. They took my old weather stained and moss covered deck and gave it a new fresh look. It was a complete transformation, I was more than satisfied with the out come. I felt the same way about the amazing job they did on my concrete driveway. Oil stains from vehicles, dried paint from previous DIY projects, rust from a basketball goal. Chuck cleaned and erased stains that I was convinced were permanent. Not to mention the carpet cleaning service he also provided. I was completely blown away by the process. They used E.P.A. aproved and environmental friendly products that were also water soluble. Completely pet friendly and CHILD SAFE.. I would highly recommend choosing New Life Hard Surface Cleaning & Restoration for any surface you need cleaned.

BB & B Residential Services
House 1 remodel went well. I received a comprehensive estimate, work was carried out in a timely manner, and inadequate repairs were brought to my standards fairly quickly. Repairs made were sheetrock, framing, finishing, painting, porch roof replacement, floor repair, siding repair, flashing installation, and linoleum installation.  After redoing the poor flashing install, siding repair and linoleum install I was satisfied.  House 2 was a simple sheetrock and paint job.  The finishing work was fine.  The painting however was rushed and in need of a second coat and I was left to repaint the area when he could not correct it in a timely manner.  Repair #2 was sheetrock repair, baseboard prime and paint.  All were done correctly.  House 3 was a difficult job which took several months.  During this time, there were very few disagreements on timeframe and scope of work which is good.  He did collect pay for jobs prior to their completion, which caused discord when items remaining were not really worth the time needed to complete them. Items done were: wall addition, laundry framing and sheetrock, finish work, painting, paneling replacement, door repair, door installation, floor repair, bead board installation, shower cement board installation, porch demo, decking and rail installation, and eave replacement.  Items of concern were cement board installation on the shower surround one inch off tub and too close to plumbing, sheetrock on the ceiling improperly installed (the crown molding was not removed and therefore there was a one inch gap between the ceiling and wall that had to be repaired), large gaps on new eaves, and some items were paid for but not completed or had to be redone included paint, touch up, pressure washing under porch, and siding repair. Upon final payment the remaining items were not attended to.  These included, painting the ceiling, painting closets, removing tape from outlet covers and painting under them.  House 4 was doorway arch, paint, ceiling repair, floor poly, flush mount light install, drain repair, dishwasher install, siding repair, window repair.  Here there was so much paint on the floor that it took me an entire day to remove.  After asking him to redo a lumpy mud job he left it to dry and did not return to prime and paint it.  Silicone was used instead of proper plumbing on the drain repair, which he did correct.  Items paid for and not completed were ceiling prime and paint, sheetrock touch up, and window repair and glazing.  Additional expense for ceiling $50.  House 5 was a simple paint job, window repair and deck pressure wash and railing replacement.  He took an extra half day to replace step tread that was fine and paint return vent covers.  There was so much paint on the floor that it took a day and a $50 floor sander rental to correct.  Items paid for and not completed were window sill caulk and paint.  Additional damage $100. At the end of each job it became more difficult to get things redone and finally with the last two houses ultimately it was my responsibility to redo.  He did however go above and beyond my expectations at many times.  The bottom line is this, he can do things well, but if he is busy or a job drags on he may leave items sub par.  Sheetrock work was good.  framing and carpentry were good.  Painting and trim were good except for paint splatter.  He is honest, which is rare. My only complaints are that I wish he would have taken some of the work of supervision off of me and I wish he would have finished as strong as he started.
