Recent Review: They quoted about $25000 for remodeling the bathroom. We are getting it done for around $10000 and it is going beautifully. We got three estimates. They didn’t do anything wrong but they were too expensive. That was the only reason that we didn’t go with them. Their responsiveness and professionalism were good. They were informative and they sent me an email.

Pretty fair pricing. Did a good job and was not one that just left and would not come back to check things out. Got the job done in the time allotted. Cleaned up after themselves.

Pefffer Construction has done work for me on several project over the past 10 years. They have remodeled a bed room and bath room along with adding a large closet and computer room. they have remodeled another bedroom for me. They constructed a 1400 sq ft. master suite addition that included a below grade Tornado Safe Room with a very nice interior stairway leading to the bunker. the addition also included two toilet rooms and a Spa Suite. While doing the addition they remodeled the laundry room so that i can use two washers and two dryers. he also replaced some windows and doors while remodeling the house. several years later we were hit by a tornado (so we got to use the shelter). Peffer construction showed up as soon as they could get through the police lines and started patching up the house. They met with our insurance adjuster and rebuilt the damaged part of our house while we were still living in it. 12 days after we were hit by the tornado a second major tornado passed within 1/2 mile of the house and the peffer crew (who were repairing the house), our neighbors and our family all found shelter in the Safe Room. Peffer Construction is very eazy to work with and the craftmanship is the best you will find.

Wayne is our ?project manager? for the remodeling of 2 bath rooms. His response to SMS is always fast and prompt (at one instance, he replied immediately around 1am even though nothing is urgent and we did not expect a response until next morning). He is well organized, always shows up at the time he says and keeps us in the loop of the plan and the schedule. He is willing to directly meet with us in Lowe?s or Home Depot to choose or pick up necessary materials or let us know beforehand about what is missing so that we have time to order online. He is pretty handy and help us fix many unrelated little things (such as changing the locks, fixing a busted pipe, adjusting the drawers, fastening the pull-down stairs, etc). His charge is acceptable. But since there is no comparison in Tuscaloosa and I don?t have much experience with construction, I have no idea whether the rate is reasonable although I think so.

I was not involved in this process but I have to use this kitchen he designed and the prior owner told us what she paid and showed us invoices in an effort to get us to offer full price. ----the cabinets and knobs are hard oak but he used machines screws not wood screws causing cabinet knobs to come off, hinges to pull out, etc. We replaced all with woof screws. ----some of the cabinet doors are not even, sag and don't match up, leaving an obvious gap. The hinges were not the right size to bear the weight of the heavy oak. We replaced. ----power connection for the disposal was boxed into the frame of the dishwasher so the disposal wasn't installed although it was on list. We installed a disposal and when our electrician cut into dishwasher frame to find the connection he found the wire had been cutoff so low that it could not reach and could not be used. We had to rewire that wall. ---an alcove was designed and built using hard oak for a refrigerator. However, it is not standard height and only the shortest fridge made, which does not much capacity for the average person and does not have an ice/water door option. We have a 2nd one in the basement for overflow.the other option was to take out the entire one piece alcove and dismantle all on that wall. The previous owner was ripped off but we are hsving to deal with it.

They were very unorganized. They advertized a quality experience that they did not provide, especially concerning things like plumbing and electrical items. Some things we even had to help out with and tell them what to do. We had a hard time getting them to do the finishing touches and project touch-ups on the bathroom. Overall, I'm 90% happy with the job and the look of my bathroom but I would not use them again for anything. The tile work is good--it's not great but it's pretty good. There were some things that they didn't check. Also, they wouldn't want to work in the rain even though they were working inside our house. They made a mess on my back porch where they cut and painted stuff. I had to clean Sheetrock mud off my sliding glass door, and they never offered to vacuum. We had bought a really nice cabinet for them to put in there and they kept looking for the hardware for it. They called me and accused my teenagers of moving their hardware for the installation. The next day they found it, one of their own employees had moved it. There were a bunch of little things that added up to be larger things. I'm not totally dissatisfied with the work, the bathroom does look great. I just won't be using them for upcoming projects.

APro Maintenance And Construction
The new fence is beautiful and has made a dramatic difference to the appearance of our side yard. In less than one day the old fence was completely removed and the new one installed without any evidence that the old fence had ever existed. Connie worked with us closely for measurements to ensure that the new railings were close enough together to ensure that our dogs weren't able to squeeze through the bars! Then Greg and Steve built the new arbor with beautiful columns and a custom top to match our pergola on the other side of the house. This is the 5th time that we've used Pro Maintenance and Construction (remodel of our master bath, remodel of the kitchen, new pergola, new garden house) and they continue to impress us with the exacting quality of their work and their sincere focus on customer satisfaction. We will not work with anyone else but them. Even our neighbors are using them because of the quality of the work that they've done for us.
