Recent Review: I did a lot of homework and research. I got a few quotes from local roofing contractors. I chose Taylor Roofing, and I am very pleased with my choice. Phillip Taylor has been in business for many years and talking to him for a short time will make it clear he knows his business and cares about what he does. I chose Taylor Roofing over the other estimates not because he was the lowest price (he was in the middle price-wise) but the reviews I had read about him were all great, and anyone I spoke to about him had nothing but good things to say about his workmanship and integrity. Phillip answered any questions I had promptly and in detail as well as provided me with insurance documentation I requested. He worked around my schedule and completed the job in record time and left my property as if he was never there. Phillip (the owner of the company) showed up promptly at 7:00am exactly when he said he would be there and work started right away. His crew wasted no time protecting my property with tarps and wood and removing the existing shingles and felt down to the decking. I was told that the decking ( the wood under the shingles ) was in great shape and there was no need for any replacement. Within a couple of hours, the back side of my roof had new felt, and they had begun installing the new GAF HD architectual shingles. Phillip jumped in with half the crew and started removing the old roofing off the front of the house while the rest of the crew continued installing the new shingles on the back. One of the reasons I decided to go with Talyor Roofing was the quality workmanship his company does and this includes hand nailing instead of using air nailers. This may seem "old fashioned" but it makes a big difference in the quality of the end product. Using air nailers may be easier and a little faster for the crew but it can cause damage to the shingles and the decking if not done carefully. A misfire from an air gun can split the shingle or send a nail through the shingle at an angle and leave it unattached or loose. The Phillip and his crew were done and cleaned up by 5:00pm that same day and my roof was beautiful and my property pristine. I would recommend Taylor Roofing to anyone I know, and I would not hesitate to hire him for any other work I need done. Great job guys and thanks for giving us piece of mind during the storms that came a few days later!

Recent Review: Josh and his crew were very professional in planning and executing the job.  Josh worked with me on initial plan, he pointed out problems that he could've easily hidden instead along the way, and his crew fixed everything as promised.  His painting crew (led by Victor) also did an exceptional job of prep and painting.  They obviously cared about the quality of their work.

Recent Review: Summit did an excellent job replacing my leaky roof. I had certain requirements and expectations in mind which I communicated up front when soliciting bids. Summit had no problem giving me the roof I wanted using the specific materials I had chosen. In order to minimize any chance of leaks, I wanted a leak barrier installed in all valleys, around dormers, skylights, vertical walls and chimney.  They did a thorough job cleaning off the old roof, underlayment, and tacks, and using a blower to clean the roof deck prior to installing the new underlayment and leak barrier. I was able to coordinate with them so that I could paint the drip edge to match my house color before it was installed. Summit's crew were hard workers who worked efficiently. They cleaned up throughout the course of the job, and they used a powerful rolling magnet to pick up loose tacks and nails. At the conclusion of the job, they did an excellent job of cleaning up any small pieces of shingle, tar paper, and wrappers, using a leaf blower to blow away shingle granules and leaf debris, and putting back everything as it was. They were also careful about not damaging my rain gutters. The new architectural shingle roof really looks beautiful and makes my house look a lot nicer and also younger. There have been several rains since the reroofing job, and I have seen no leaks. Summit offers a 10 year workmanship warranty. I highly recommend Stuart and Brian - they were courteous, professional, and pleasant to work with.

Recent Review: The estimator served as the single point of contact for the entire job, including estimation, contract, and final inspection, which I liked. PRC has just one crew of 8-10 men, and they obviously work well together. The entire roof was stripped and most of the replacement shingles installed in one day. Half of a second day was necessary to finish re-roofing and replace plywood, sheathing, and roof vent collars. A third visit was needed to finish the chimney area flashing and shingles (underestimated shingles about 2-1/2 squares and they ran out). A fourth and final visit from the estimator for a final inspection and caulking on window seams finished the job.

Mr. Cooper was very helpful and easy to work with. He is very in touch with his customers. They finished the job within week during an intense heat wave.

AHERNANDEZ ROOFING
They did the entire job in a little over one day. They assured the unfinished part of the roof was protected against possible rain for one night. They replaced two pieces of deck sheathing. They hauled all the old roof materials and the residue from the new roof away. They also did a very good job of cleaning up residue on the ground, including nails. They were quite careful with the new roofing materials. For example they gently sat each bundle of shingles on the deck. The materials were delivered two days ahead of the job and were placed so as not to interfere with our normal traffic patterns and activities. They covered the materials so as to protect them from rain until construction began. They complied with all specifications, such as overlaps, nail placement etc. The workers were all most polite.

After a few bumps along the way, it was great.  The work was not started when they said they would but I understand there was a family emergency with the guy who supervises the metal roofing. Even though there was no hurry on the roof, we would have appreciated a phone call from someone.  My husband called the guy responsible for installing/supervising the metal roof and he said it was his fault , that he dropped the ball by not calling us.  I am not sure they had a foreman that really watched what the roofers were doing.  I sent David several pictures of items that didn't look right.  He had them corrected immediately. I started to give them a "B" in one category strictly because of the lack of communication with the roofing supervisor and the corrections that had to be done. There is not really a category that would fit that description. Plus, David Francis always returned my calls or texts and corrected any problems I had.  We have several other projects and would definitely use them again.

ATAYLOR ROOFING
Having worked in the Construction Industry in excess of 40 years, I was very concerned about finding a quality roofing company.  After several hours of engaging contacts, researching various roofing companies, I came across the company by recommendation. This company has been professional, courteous, and responsive, from initial contact though contract engagement and job completion.   I will note that I was on site to observe the actual work as it was performed and was impressed with the attention to detail, level of quality, timely performance and final clean-up at job completion. One could not tell they had been there except for the new roof itself and it looks great!   In addition, based on my construction experience, my confidence level in the completed product being of good quality is very good.  In Summary, if you are interested in a good quality job at a reasonable price I would highly recommend this company.

FLatham Construction Inc
The whole experience was terrible. They were unprofessional. They pulled off the old rubber on the flat roof section and installed new rubber, without inspecting or fixing any original problems. After they installed the new rubber they pulled the vinyl siding down and discovered the joists underneath the new rubber roof were in bad shape and needed to be replaced. Latham then jacked up the new rubber roof to replace the joists but since they had put on the new rubber roof, they couldn't properly screw the decking to the joists. Latham then quickly put the vinyl siding up and left, hiding all the bad work. Now the flat roof leaks even worse than before Latham had done the work. The asphalt shingles on the front were done alright but the ridge cap isn't straight. I found beer cans on my property after they were done. I can only guess this impacted their ability to lay a professional roof. They also didn't clean up the construction mess. Roofing tacks were left in the driveway and all around the exterior of the house. I had to get a magnet and manually pull up the debris. When I tried contacting Latham to fix the issues they took no accountability and said their work was alright. I simply want others to know of my experience before looking to hire Latham Construction.

I would absolutely recommend David and Cobalt Construction for any future renovation or home repair. Our home sustained significant damage in the tornado's which swept across much of Alabama in April 2011. Repairs included replacement of the roof, most of the drywall, window replacement, some masonry, the HVAC system, flooring, insulation, some electrical work, painting and other interior finishing work, and fencing. David and his crew have completed all work on time, within budget and with an extreme degree of professionalism. Toward the end of work on the interior of the house we came up against a hard deadline for move in; David and the Cobalt team were able to complete all work on time and get our family back into our home. This company will truly go the extra mile to ensure that a customer is satisfied with the conduct of their employees; on several occasions the Cobalt Construction team helped my wife carry in groceries, bring in our trashcans and recycle bins in from the curb and checked to ensure that everything was completed to our satisfaction.
