Recent Review: They go through the garage floor and put it underground. They were very clean and punctual. They were very professional and power washed everything before and after. It was perfect. We have recommended them and would definitely use them again.

Recent Review: Bill was my contact person with Providence. We wanted an above ground safe room with specific options, door placement, etc. And Providence was the only one that could do all that we asked without extra costs/issues. We had a choice of underground and above ground units and we chose the above ground unit because of the comfort factor, ease of access, and that the water heater and water cut-off valve were located in the garage (I was worried about flooding issues). Also, my neighbor shared that the worst of the tornado warning is waiting for the storms to roll through during the night. An underground unit was just too uncomfortable. So, we custom designed our unit to have wall-mounted pull-down bunk beds so we could get some sleep at night while waiting for the storms to move through. Bill and Providence were able to give us exactly what we wanted (door placement, vent placement, TVs, batteries, inverter, charger, antennas, lights) for a very reasonable cost. Also, the delivery time was 2 weeks compared to 6 to 8 weeks quoted by the other companies who had units made out of state. Providence units are made locally so it was a great turnaround time.

Business Description: Southeastern LLS, LLC is the sole provider of the Vortex Vault storm shelter / safe room as seen on Shark Tank in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Our shelters are revolutionary in the storm shelter/safe room market in that they require no loss of space! Our shelters act as your bed frame when not in use. So in fact, they not only save space, they make the best use of the most wasted space in most homes - the space under your bed. Our shelters were tested by Texas Tech and are FEMA certified to withstand the forces of an EF5 tornado. That's winds over 300 mph and debris impacts of over 100 mph. Each unit bolts directly into your home's cement slab with up to 32 5 inch cement lag bolts. It isn't going anywhere!

Recent Review: Q.E. Restoration is the BEST roofing company !!!   I was amazed how easy they made the entire process of getting a new roof on my home. First: The representative Q.E. Restoration sent out to inspect my roof was courteous, arrived on time and provided me with photos of the damages he found on my roof. He then explained to me why he thought my insuranced company would pay for my new roof. Second:  He then explained the process to me: I needed to  call my insurance company and arrange for an adjustor to come view the damages to my roof.  And after that all I needed to do was to call him and tell him the time and date the adjustor was coming to my home  and he would be at my home to meet with the adjustor. Third:  When Iasked him what I should do when the adjustor arrived he told me that .....Nothing...He said he was my advocate and was there to look out for my interest.   I felt so relieved..... He did ask that once the adjustor agreed to replace my roof that I sign an agreement with Q.E. Restoration that authorized Q.E. Restoration to install my roof. Fourth: Sure enough on the day the adjustor was going to arrive my Q.E. Restration representative arrived at my home about 15 minutes before the adjustor and met with me. That really put me at ease  which I greatly appreciated.  When the adjustor arrived my Q.E. Representative was fully prepared and they went onto the roof to inspect the damages.   When they came down the adjustor met with me and my Q.E. Representative and the adjustor agreed to "BUY"me a new roof.  The Q.E. Representative and I looked over the agreement together and he explained what the agreement covered; things like Q.E. only charges what the insurance company will pay for my roof minus my deductible.  And how the roof was to be built:  Things like the types of materials used:  like the felts,15 pound or 30 pound depending on the steepness of the  roof. (I have a steep roof so I had to get tyhe 30 pound felt.  Its amazing what you can learn when you ask!)   Also galvanized nails, the  number of nails per shingle, wind resistance and the guaranteed life on the shingle i chose.  PLUS...... He explained to me that Q.E. Restoration was a Preferred Platinum Installer for Owens Corning Shingles, one of only 6 in Tennessee  and that because I choose Owens Corning shingles I got and additional guarantee on my roof over and above Q.E. Restorations own. Fifth:  After the adjustor left and I had the check in my hand  for my new roof I  asked my Q.E. Reprsentative If he wanted the check....And his reply floored me.  He said "No."  He said "We collect after the job is completed and you are satifisfied with  the new roof we put on your home."  Boy was I glad I choose Q.E.... BOTTOM LINE.... Q.E. RESTORATIONS DID A GREAT JOB ON MY ROOF AND I WAS AND AM TOTALLY SATISFIED WITH THE WORK!

ALifesaver Storm Shelters of North Alabama
They have to dig a hole, put these in, there are different sizes you can pick from, I chose one that would seat 12-15 people. They put it in the ground, they anchor it, then they re level the ground back around it, but of course, they don't cover the top so you can open that and there's stairs to go down in, and just pretty neat. It would have been less if I wanted a smaller one, but I wanted a larger one. We can stand up inside of it, and there are stairs that going up, which go higher than that. It's just one room, there's bench seating all the way around three sides. Then where the stairway is there's places where you can stack water, well we have a baby over here so we keep the formula and things like that, bottles, and blankets, and pillows, and that sort of thing. There's room in there for that plus four people. We have been in it 3 times. The dimensions are 66 inches wide, 9 feet six inches long, and 6 feet 3 inches tall. They were tested by the US military to protect armed forces, they fired two by fours into them at like a hundred miles an hour, and I believe there reinforced fiberglass, and it won't penetrate, there just pretty good deals. I did ask them to come out early to help me pick a location, and they kept putting me off, and they never did, it ended up in a location I'm not, well it's okay, I mean, I'm glad it's there, but it's not ideal. I'm happy with the shelter, I just wanted it closer to the house than it ended up being. They do need to respond to customers and they need to go out early to pick locations, because they have to avoid things like if you have a septic tank, they have to avoid the field, all kinds of issues as far as locating it correctly, and they need to go out ahead the day that it's delivered and get it determined.

They showed up a couple weeks early because they had an opening to install my new storm shelter so I jumped at it.  They worked that Friday but could not finish since a dumpster was not available so they had to come back the next day to finish up which threw my schedule off a little bit. It was not the end of the world though. The shelter looks good and was the best price around I could find.

Rhodes was very flexible on scheduling. He arranged his installation around my work schedule. His men were polite and professional at all times. The work took about two days total. No details were missed- from cutting the garage floor slab, to digging the hole for the shelter, to installing the shelter itself, to pouring the concrete. The only delays were caused by subcontractors- the dumpster company, the concrete company, etc and Rhodes was on top of those. He kept me in the loop at every step.

We had a great experience. Rhodes carefully explained the shelters that were available and showed us examples of two of them. We were able to set up installation dates very quickly. The workmen came when promised, and they were very careful and polite. They cleaned up very well as they went along and then again when they finished.

FLifesaver Storm Shelters of North Alabama
"We were trying to contact the provider by phone and e-mail without success.  The first "form" e-mail we received from the company contained the following information : "Shelter Display - Feel and Experience the Difference   If you are interested in learning more about the Huntsville Tornado Shelter.com difference, we invite you to come by our Huntsville shelter display at Rocket City Trailers on the Northeast corner of Oakwood Avenue and N Memorial Parkway during normal business hours so you can feel and experience the Lifesaver Storm Shelters of North Alabama difference (click image below to open google maps)". We went to the location specified only to learn that there are no shelters to see and the Rocket City Trailers employees don't know anything about Lifesaver Storm Shelters. At this point we gave up on this company and selected different storm shelter provider.

FCHRISTIAN CONTRACTORS INC
Initial work went smoothly. after shell of the new structure was up and old garage was gutted. The contractor requested additional payment of 22,000. We had no reason to believe the work would be any different than before. This was not to be the case though. Contractor started making excuses for letting weeks go by without work. When I threatened to go to the Better Business Bureau, he sent roofers out to roof the new structure. He also sent a plumber out to move water well equipment. This was a disaster. The plumber could not speak english and botched the job so bad, i had to hire a plumbing company to come and redo the work after hours. This cost me over 350 dollars. With the exception of the electricians, all his subcontractors spoke little to no english. I also had trouble getting Mr Arocha back out to the site. When 6 months had gone by and little more had been done to the contract I did contact the BBB and filed a case against Mr. Arocha. Case 31031063 was opened and Mr Arocha failed to respond to two written requests of the BBB. This earned him an F rating which was irrevocable by me even had he responded. By January of 2014 we had tried renegotiating the contract and putting a definite end date for completion. Months went by with no work. Mr Arocha complained the cold weather had impacted the work. Mr Arocha told us on more than one occasion that he could not get the storm shelter door. I contacted several companies and even with the amount of doors being ordered prior to storm season, the lead time was only three weeks to deliver a made to order door. The negotiated finish date had come and gone and my wife and I decided to cut our losses and get another contractor to finish the project. Mr Arocha had planned to send a mason out to move the 365 concrete blocks out of my way when I told him not to return. I have researched the Madison County court records to ascertain if others had the same experience we had. I found two others that had the exact same problem. They had paid him an installment and additional work became slow to non-existent. I have the names and their consent to discuss with authorities if needed but will not disclose them to the public. My original contract was for 45,500. It has cost me an additional 36,000 to get the job completed. Lesson learned. I will never rely solely on Angies List but will use them and the BBB.

AValley Storm Shelters Of Alabama
The Valley Storm Shelters company is excellent. I spent about a year doing my own research on tornado shelters and tornado safe rooms. I even spoke with Texas Tech University, who pioneered the certification process for safe room designs...they even spoke highly of this company. I couldn't feel more safe and have the piece of mind that I do without their product. After living through the monstrous EF-4 tornado in Tuscaloosa, AL during the superoutbreak of 2011, you have to set the bar high for me. What sold me on their above ground model is the Corelock anchoring system. My particular shelter is secured at thirteen different anchoring points; four of which utilize the Corelock system. This anchoring system uses four twenty-four inch Corelock anchor bolts embedded in 2-3 inches of solid concrete. The quality and strength of these shelters is obvious. All of the staff I spoke to when touring the showroom were very informative and answered all of my questions and concerns. I could tell they were committed to selling me safety and not worried about the profits. They were all genuinely vested in my peace of mind, safety, and satisfaction. The installation crew arrived at my home on time, ready to work. They were very friendly and personable, but didn't not stray from the job. They kept the work area very tidy and removed all rubbish from the work site. Overall, the total installation took about 3-4 hours. It was a great experience, and something I cherish having in my home.

Looking at the work six months after completion, I have to say that the tornado shelter and the generator installation were first class. I would hire Lee Builders again for new construction. That work is very high quality and will hold up in times of stressful weather, which is very important.

I contacted Jeff Lee to inquire whether he could finish an external garage, storm shelter, breezeway, and workshop that a previous contractor walked away from. I had limited funds to work with since the previous contractor had been paid but failed to finish. Jeff was able to come up with some design changes that would allow us to finish with what funds we had left. Jeff is an extremely capable builder and is trustworthy. His crew are professionals and we had no qualms about letting him have our home and work with it while we were out. I can't say enough about his work. My previous contractor had designed a garage but failed to measure the size of the doors necessary to fit both my truck and my wife's van through. Jeff saw this and brought it to my attention and was able to re-frame the truck side to fit. He also saw flaws in the storm shelter design and was able to change this without any additional funds needed. Jeff was able to re-purpose some of the leftover materials to build an attic floor with, again without additional funds. The new construction is very nice and we are extremely happy with it. The storm shelter redesign gave us a very strong 12x12 area that is inside the house and easy to get in and quick to secure. I can't say enough about hiring the right company to start with and saving money sometimes means cutting corners when they shouldn't be cut. If I had hired Jeff Lee and Lee Builders to start with I would be $22,000 richer and my construction would have been finished months earlier. Make sure you use Angie's List AND the Better Business Bureau to hire your contractor. You won't ever be sorry you hired Jeff Lee and Lee Builders.
