Recent Review: First of all I want to say I called every contractor on angieslist.com that had a decent rating, I just followed down the list one at a time. The first one was to far away and only wanted to use his plastic bathroom stuff which I was unimpressed with. The Second one was so arrogant and uncooperative he only wanted to design it his way and any suggestion I had he made me feel as if I was stupid. After to many days of waiting he finally called me with his excessive price higher than all the others this was with his coupon he offered on here. I don't know how he even has a business. The fourth one wanted to bring in this person and that person to do things he didn't do and his price was very high almost as high as the second one. I called Sweet Home Remodeling and spoke with Mr. Denton he was my third call. Answered right away, came to visit me the following Saturday and explained everything he could do with his crew. He excepted my few ideas and said he could work with me on what I liked. I signed the contract and he got started when he said he would. Him and his mean were here every day and in three weeks the bathroom was complete minus the vanity's and counter tops which took a additional week. Mr denton and one of his men returned to hook up the sinks that afternoon after they were installed.  Mr Denton and his crew demolished my old bathroom and closet to the frame. They moved the wall in the bathroom into the huge bedroom, 36 inches to give the bathroom more room. Then used a beam and jacks to level my bedroom and bathroom so there was no more dip in the floor. they installed two layers of plywood on the floor and used a product called Ditra that allowed him to tile on that. The tub was a drop in jet and a sturdy frame was built to secure it and the granite top around it. The shower had a new product called Kirby that was used in it to help water proof the area from cracks, tile went over it as well. The cabinetry work was beautiful and exactly what I envisioned. Glass doors on the shower were installed by Hendrix Glass and what a wonderful job they did.too. The entire experience was great, my next projects I will use him again.

Review for Horton Master Bathroom Remodeling

FScott Thomas Construction
Master bathroom renovation began on December 2, 2016. Mr. Thomas told us this was a 3-4 week job. When contractor was released on June 20, 2017, less than half of the promised services were completed. Over the 6 1/2 months of renovation, communication was sporadic. We were told that different providers hired for the job would not work in our home for different reasons. Mr. Thomas would not show up to work on our bathroom for weeks at a time. When we would finally get a text or call returned, we were given excuses for why he hadn't shown up. He also admitted to taking other jobs while we were left waiting. Items were taken from our home. These things ranged from contractor trash can to different tools to electronic devices. Although one item has been returned, the others, some missing for 5 months or more, haven't been returned. The few items that were finally returned were damaged. Mr. Thomas was paid more than half of his fee but did not produce results. He and his crew wasted materials. We purchased almost 20% more tile than he said he needed for the job. However, he has told us that there is no tile left to complete the bathroom floor and shower because one of the crew members was wasteful when cutting. Tile was glued down or even grouted only to be pulled up later. Very little of the clean up was performed by the contractor's crew. I had to carry the old vanity, shower doors, and other items out of my driveway to the curb to be picked up by the city. Many times floors were not covered with cloth, so the crew members who were in and out of the house left debris all over the floors and stains on the carpet. After a long ordeal without any one part of the job totally finished, Mr. Thomas has said he is in the hole for $2500 himself for an incomplete job quoted to cost $7500. We have not seen any receipts. I attempted to get him off this job sooner, but he had been keeping all of our materials that we had purchased in another place and would not return them. We eventually told him we no longer wanted him working on our remodel. Meanwhile, after almost seven months, we are left without a functioning master bathroom. We have found another builder to complete the work on our bathroom. He is having to take up floor and shower tile to make sure the job is done correctly. We just hope that the things Mr. Thomas and his crew did, such as plumbing, were done correctly so that we will not have issues later on. Hiring Scott Thomas to do this job has been a total waste of time and money.

FLOWES HOME IMPROVEMENT CENTER
They messed everything up, it took us months to get the bathrooms completed. It was a nightmare and we had to threaten to call the guy over that part of the company and they finally came around to getting some of the stuff straightened out. The manager never called to ask how it went with this job and they did with the windows we had them do.

Called several contractors for estimate over the course of a year got 8 estimates. Mr Denton was not the cheapest in fact he was more closer to the top. He seem to know more about the process of what work would be done and was able to describe better than any of the other 7 people who came to bid the work. He was also the only installer of Schluter System that was a certified installed trained by Schluter. He and the other man who did the job where very professional, communicated with my wife and I along the two week project. Ran into a few snags but handled every situation very professional. We are very pleased with our new bathroom and will use them again next year with our master bathroom.

Initially I was very pleased with Chris. The stair project went very well......design, execution and price were perfect The bathroom went well until the last day. Chris was not there and sent his father and helper to finish up. The flooring tiles were not laid properly and are now loose. Cleanup was shoddy. But the worst incident involved the bill, which Chris had already prepared. His father asked for additional money to be added to the total to pay his rent! He wanted two checks, one for him, and one for the helper. I stupidly did this but kept very careful records of what I consider illegal practice. I then began looking closely at all of my Lowe receipts. There were additional charges on every one for water, snacks, etc, things I shouldn't have had to pay for. I discussed the situation with Chris concerning overpayment, ie the extra money for his father. I have never had a reply or the money. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Affordable Windows were called to use a TVA program to replace our old windows with new vinyl ones. After he was out we decided to replace the exterior doors as well. It took longer then I expected to get the stuff in (8 working days) but in 3 working days they were all done installing and wrapping the windows and doors. Before he could pack up in conversation I told him we were interested in remodeling our bathroom. As well as he did on the windows and doors I thought I would call a few of his references and find out if he could do a bathroom. Each person I spoke with said volumes of good things about his bathroom remodels. Including on very prominent real estate agent in this area. We worked out the details and with in 10 working days our bathroom looked wonderful. There were no surprises or additional cost and everything was exactly as my wife wished it to be. Next came our kitchen and since he did that well with the bathroom how hard could a kitchen be. It took him 3 weeks to get back to us but he claimed he was busy with other clients and once they were done he would be back. On the day he said he and his man returned and started on our kitchen 4 days later we were done and now our home looks new.We have dealt with other company's over the years but this guy is far better and has the skills to do what he says. If I have anything again I will call him.The only thing I did not like was his responsiveness, I would rather we just went from one job to the next but he had other customers in line and I had to wait my turn again. Other then that Great guy, honest, polite.

FSears Appliance Repair
We live in Calera, Alabama, and we met with sales personnel on July 26, 2014, and signed contract, and paid in full.  Personnel came out two more times of taking measurements.  We were told that it would take 4 to 6 weeks for material to come in.  Four weeks went by and we contacted company to see what the status was.  We were asked, didn't anyone contact you?  When we said no, we were told that our contract had been cancelled three and 1/2 weeks before.  When we asked why, we were told that the material we selected would cover up the bathroom window, as what we ordered was to have the back cut out where the window was, so since this material wouldn't work, the order was cancelled.  We asked why we weren't called, they didn't have an answer.  I asked where do we go from here, and was told that we'd have to upgrade to the higher priced material, and it would be $1600.00 more.  I stated that we didn't have that amount of money, and that if they would have called us before they cancelled the contract, we could have worked something out, but since we prepaid for the instillation, we used the spare money we allotted for the job on other things.  We asked if we could have the upgraded material at no cost, and Sears paying the difference because we did nothing wrong, and since Sears screwed up, we should not be punished because it was their problem.  We were told by Dennis Sorrelle, the project coordinator, that no, we would have to pay the difference.  I proposed that we split the difference, and again, we were told no.  I then asked if we could pay the difference in six payments, and again it was "no"!  I then said that we really didn't want the window blocked, but if we could get our original material, it didn't matter if the window was covered.  Dennis said, that would work, and he would be back in touch with us in a week or two. Two weeks went by, and we called, and were told that the material came in, and the back piece was broken, and they would have to reorder.  We called two more times, and were told each time, a week apart, that again, the back pieces came in broken, and again, they would have to reorder.  On the third call, I told Dennis that we felt that we should be upgraded at no cost to us because, again, none of this was our fault.  Again, we were told, "no"!  I asked for his supervisor, and Dennis told us that it didn't matter who we called, because the decision would come back to him, and he would still say "no"!  So, we again said, ok, order a new back piece.  I tried calling the Florida number, and was told that they were only the scheduling department, and we'd have to call the project manager, Dennis.  We asked for the number of the CEO of Sears Home Improvement, and we were passed on to three different locations, and the last one, we were given the name of Jay Passman, the Director in the Birmingham office.  I placed two calls to his number, left messages, and never received a return call. On Tuesday, Sept. 2, Sears called and said that all the material and parts were received, and that they could come out on Wednesday, Sept 3 to install, I said "ok".  The contractor and plumber came out yesterday, and it took 8 hours for them to complete the job.  We were not satisfied with the results, as the installer did a lousy job of fixing the drywall he cut, and mudded.  There was gaps in several areas between the wall and the top of the back panel, and damage to the bottom of the window, and I have to repair where he messed up. I would advise anyone to steer clear of the Birmingham office, and find someone else to remodel your bathroom.  In all the years we have been using contractors, this is the worst project we've ever had, and the professionalism of Sears in in question.

ACorey Dotson, contractor
Having experience bad service with a previous contractor, we hesitated to comment on any work until we knew the workmanship would hold up.     We can say uncontionally that Mr. Dotson and his crew did superb reliable work which have stood the test of time. We enjoy our home every day because we put our trust in him.     The kitchen: no leaks around the new sink nor any problems with the back splash. We choose an European single pane large window which matches the small window for the bathroom, both looking out onto the back porch, were placed well.     The downstairs bathroom doesn't leak (it was leaking into the wall before) and the fan is now properly vented to the outside. The selving he put up is now our "Safety Room" so we store food, water, and emergency gear, heading there when tornados head out way, thereby helping to protect us.        Our "master" bathroom was so tiny, we thought no one could make it work. But by removing the tub (our second bathroom in the hallway has one), putting in a tiled walk-in and sit-down shower, a smaller sink and designing a cool corner bamboo floor to ceiling enclosed unit, along with the single pane window to make the room feel bigger, we love it.     And the back porch ceiling?  The crew used proper staples and it hasn't budged since.     The improvements make this 16 year old so comfortable that when we decide to sell, I can feel good about the changes.

Our bathroom was a disaster. Poor construction and cheap materials had left us with a rotten floor, inadequate insulation, flaking sheetrock, and a broken exhaust fan.  Erik gave a very reasonable estimate to take out & replace everything, we felt very comfortable with him (especially after reading his reviews), and we were able to book him for a month later to complete the job. From the moment his team arrived until they finished a week later, Erik and his team did an excellent job. They had everything gutted on day 1, and everything was finished within a week. He took the time to walk us through every step of the project, explaining what they were doing and why. The bathroom has been completely transformed and is now a showcase room in our house instead of an embarrassment. Erik and his team were extremely professional, helpful, and thorough. We will definitely call Erik again!

I had found Sweet Home Repairs through a lady I knew from church she said he was the best contractor she had ever used.  After I contacted the company he set up an appointment to see the job. He measured it and a few days later he contacted me so he could drop off the bid.  Sweet Home Repairs came in at 12500 I hired him and his company the next day. I gave a check for 6500 dollars down and got a contract in return.  I had contacted several companies and each bid varied by 1000s of dollars, I had one bid over 20,000 dollars and my lowest bid being 9000. I knew those were just not right and so I entertained a few more. From what I had been told from friends and relitives that material and labor should be 2.5 times the cost of material alone this would make my job around 12 to 13 thousand dollars. Mr Denton and his two helpers came in a gutted the whole bathroom in one day. By the time I got home from work they were gone and the bathroom was too. There was not any mess either, they had cleaned everything. The next morning Mr Denton arrived and asked where I was going to want the pot lights in the bathroom, as I pointed his helpers hung them. As I left I saw them reinsulating my walls with new fiberglass insulation and by the time I got home the bathroom had been redrywalled and covered with cement boards in the place that tile was to go. After a week of watching my bathroom develope into what I dreamed of we finally got to see tile being laid. Mr Denton laid down Hardie cement boards along with a system by Shuluter called Kerdi that went right over the cement boards this waterproof the bathroom from any leakage coming through the floor and runing any part of my house. Nine working days later all was done and my bathroom was ready to be mine again. I wrote Mr Denton a check for the remaining 6500 and we were done. I am so happy with my new bathroom and i cant wait til January cause i am going to have him do our house bathroom down stairs next.
