Reviews for Remodeling Bathrooms in Eoline

AHalo Construction LLC
Our experience with Halo Construction was great. James provided a very fair estimate and was helpful in selecting the tile. He worked with us on adding several decorative features that I would not have thought of on my own, but which has added significantly to the look of the bathroom. He began the project only one day after he planned to, and completed it in a timely manner. We are very pleased with Halo Construction and plan to use them again soon to install a new kitchen floor.

AZef's Construction
Zef was able to start my project sooner than expected and gave me a timetable of how long the entire project would take. All the workers I had contact with were very polite and explained what they were doing that day. Each day the area was cleaned up as much as possible due to the nature of the project some items couldn't be cleared away but nothing was ever a hazard. My basement bathroom was completed several days early but the job wasn't rushed and I am totally satisfied with how everything turned out. Very professional I'd use this company again without hesitation.

OVER ALL THE JOB WENT WELL.  THERE WERE A COUPLE OF ITEMS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN  HANDLED BETTER BUT WERE CLEARED UP TO MY SATISFACTION. OVERALL FROM MY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH CONTRACTORS THIS ONE  WAS A GOOD EXPERIENCE.

They were very unorganized. They advertized a quality experience that they did not provide, especially concerning things like plumbing and electrical items. Some things we even had to help out with and tell them what to do. We had a hard time getting them to do the finishing touches and project touch-ups on the bathroom. Overall, I'm 90% happy with the job and the look of my bathroom but I would not use them again for anything. The tile work is good--it's not great but it's pretty good. There were some things that they didn't check. Also, they wouldn't want to work in the rain even though they were working inside our house. They made a mess on my back porch where they cut and painted stuff. I had to clean Sheetrock mud off my sliding glass door, and they never offered to vacuum. We had bought a really nice cabinet for them to put in there and they kept looking for the hardware for it. They called me and accused my teenagers of moving their hardware for the installation. The next day they found it, one of their own employees had moved it. There were a bunch of little things that added up to be larger things. I'm not totally dissatisfied with the work, the bathroom does look great. I just won't be using them for upcoming projects.

We knew the moment we met Mr. Peffer for the first time that we had found the right person for our project. You don't find craftsmen like Mr. Peffer anymore. He is a one of a kind expert craftsman and his attention to detail is second to none. If you have specific customization expectations for you project he listens and provides a realistic plan for how to complete the project and exceed your expectations. We now have an AMAZING bathroom with all the bells and whistles!!! We also liked all of his Sub-Contractors. He knows who to call on to get things done and he holds them accountable for their work. Of particular importance to me and my daughter (we are both allergic), neither he nor his Electrician smoke. We have someone that we can trust that we can call on to help us and that is very comforting to know!!! Our project included: oversized soaker tub; ceiling mounted rain head; oversized custom tiled niche; custom tiled tub skirt; blue tooth speaker/exhaust fan; mosaic tile wall backsplash; wall mounted faucets x2; elictrical outlets with USB; knee kick with quad electrical plug ; soft closure cabinet hinges; in closet lighting; closet shelving; towel warmer; GFI outlets; multi-switch lighting control & dimmer; extra wide crown molding throughout bathroom; chandelier installation with extra bracing to handle the weight; leveling of the walls(furring them out); moving plumbing for both the tub and toilet and widening and replacing the entry door to the bathroom. (The project also included completely redoing the hallway, crown molding and replacing the attic stairs, as we had an AC leak in the attic the week before our bathroom project started. Mr. Peffer fixed it all better than it was before.)

It was very good. I thought the price was very reasonable. He came when he said he was going to come and got the job done. He was very careful not to break up the tiles because they couldn't be replaced as the house is 50 years old and we're not likely to find tiles with the same color.

I found them helpful with my tile and fixture choices and Dave Kendrick was great. He carefully explained what was going to happen all along the way. Workers showed up when they were supposed to and mess was kept to a minimum. Scott Smith was creative when building a new tiled shower and can do anything with tile. The painters even refinished my cabinets so that I didn’t have to replace them. Dave Kendrick really stayed on top of the work and stayed in contact with me to make sure I was happy. I give this company my highest rating - they are professional, they listened to what I wanted and followed through with everything they promised to do. I love my bathroom now!

Halo was punctual in looking at our house and getting us a price on the work to be done. The problems we encountered included the following: lack of quality work, continued changes to the contract and price of work to be performed, unclean working conditions, communication issues, and damaging new items installed. First of all, my husband was going to be doing all of the painting. After the walls in our nursery were refinished, he was going to paint. James told him that the walls were ready to paint one day, so my husband came home from working on a job out of town to do so. When he arrived, his examination of the walls showed that there were still many imperfections that needed to be fixed before be could paint. James fixed the walls where we asked him to. He also put in hardwood floors in this room. We had no issues with the floor, except that there was a large amount of wood glue left for us to clean up. We have been unsuccessful in removing it. We were quoted a price on several things to be done in our bathroom. The contracts for both bathrooms had to be amended because James forgot items to be done. There were also items that were added due to my husband and father-in-law not finishing the demolition correctly, so we do take responsibility for those issues. My husband had to show James where the shower tile was not trimmed into a straight line. James fixed this issues as well. But, after finishing the first bathroom, we noticed chips on our new tub that James never informed us were there. My husband had to buy a kit to fix this problem himself. After both bathrooms were finished, we had a leak in our house. My husband and father-in-law searched for the cause and could not find the issue. They called James, and he came over quickly to help. But, the entire time he insisted the leak was not due to any of his work. I will admit my father-in-law became quite argumentative with James, but we had a new baby in the house that he was concerned for. We did not need to have mold form in the room next to our newborn's nursery. James insisted that if the problem was due to his work, that he would remedy the issue. When the leak was found, it was in fact due to bad welding of new pipe fittings in the bathroom. We had to knock out some drywall to find the leak ourselves. My husband called James to tell him that the leak was due to his work, and we have not heard from James since. He did not help fix the problem as he had promised. This is the main factor that caused me to give Halo a D rating. My husband and father-in-law fixed the leak, and put in drywall in 3 rooms that had to be removed. Some other issues that we did not communicate with Halo were the cleanliness problems. Our house is older, and we are replacing most everything. But, I still expected the workers to treat my home with respect. They did not do this. Urine was found in my bathroom floor one day. My carpet is now stained with the mudding materials used on the ceiling. Our side door and door knob now have spots of wood glue all over them. And our dresser, which is beside the bathroom door of our bedroom that was remodeled, now has scratches and nicks all over one side. And I was 9 months pregnant while this work was being done, but still had to vacuum up after the crew when I came home from work. They never offered or asked about cleaning their mess off of the floor.
