Palmer French Door Installation

They billed and were paid for two doors.  One door was also paid for by the homeowner.  Once the discrepancy was discovered they refused to refund the overpayment of $800.  The second door was not authorized to be ordered, they don't know what happened to the door and refuse to reimburse for that door $800.  Very difficult to communicate with, refuse to meet in person, say they have financial issues and don't have the money and want to charge more for the labor originally billed.  Would definitely not recommend.  Very unprofessional, lacking honesty and integrity.

They showed up all three days and did the job on time! The 2 brother team worked approx 10 hours each day and did a thoroughly, professional job on installation of windows and trim! I have had no problems with the windows since. Very responsive company when we had questions.

Every step of the process, from my first telephone conversation up through the final inspection and payment, went perfectly! It sounds "over the top", but Neighbors Windows and Doors could give lessons in "Secrets of Contracting Company Success", they are that good. The initial inspection was scheduled promptly, and the estimator patiently answered my questions about the product, installation, scheduling, and a dozen other details. He emailed a comprehensive cost estimate just a couple of days after his inspection, and responded promptly when I contacted him with follow-up questions about the bid. The estimator came back out to re-measure all the windows a second time before placing the order with the local manufacturer, to ensure proper fit in each opening. Once we committed to the project and paid a deposit, I asked for the work to be scheduled for a particular week several months in advance in order to accommodate my family's needs, and Neighbors did this readily. I received a follow-up call several days in advance to confirm the start time, and to give me an idea what to expect as the work progressed (i.e. removing window coverings, making room in the driveway for them to park their equipment trailer, etc.) The installation crew arrived promptly as scheduled, introduced themselves, and walked through the house with me to ensure that everything was ready for the project to begin. It was immediately apparent that the 3-man crew was experienced, and really care about the quality of their work. They were fast, friendly, tidy, and really seemed to enjoy working together as a team. When they encountered a couple of snags in the installation of several windows, due to dry-rot in the original framing that was not visible until the old windows came out, they quickly repaired the damaged framing and continued with the installation instead of making a production out of it. I believe any other contractor would have called for a change order and extra payment, but Neighbors just handled it and moved along. The project was scheduled to take 3 days, and the crew worked an extra-long second day to make sure they would finish on time the following day, which they did. The crew very carefully cleaned up after themselves, even running a magnet over the driveway to make sure no unseen nails were left behind. The company's operations manager stopped by for an inspection, and when he noticed a minor issue with some of the hardware used during manufacture--something I would not even have noticed--he had a technician come out to correct the problem without making a fuss. The lead installer walked through the house with me, giving tips on operating and maintaining the new windows which work quite differently from the clunky old wood windows the house was built with. I could continue, but hopefully I've highlighted enough particulars to help show how Neighbors Windows and Doors conducts its business. Many companies pay lip service to the concept of "We value your business", but these guys have it down. Whether your needs are for the replacement or installation of just one door or window, or (like mine) a whole-house retrofit, look no further than Neighbors Windows and Doors. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this company.

Shawn arrived as agreed and completed the work both quickly and better than I anticipated.  The quality of work is outstanding.  He is courteous and professional.  We are very pleased with his work and would definitely recommend his services to others. We anticipate using him again very soon for more projects.

He was very pleasant. I was at home the day that he did it. I had a couple of issues with it but he came back and fixed it on spot. I had good response from those people. They are generally good. They were professional and I like the way that they operated. I had also an issue with the ground attaches with the side of the wall. He had to come and re drill a couple of times because the ground was shifting. I felt that they were trustworthy.

They did excellent work for us and as far as we are concerned they went the extra mile.  We were replacing ouf sliding door with the french door for two reasons.  One was for the energy savings and the second, which was most important, was to improve access to our house for our wheelchair dependent son who lives with us.  The store where we bought the door said for an additional $450.00 they could have a wheelchair accesible threshold installed on the door.  Because of budget constraints we elected not to do this.  After explaining this do Dave and his son they set to work and fixed the threshold so that it was level with the floor and my son can now go in and out without causing any damage to the door frame.  Needless to say this was done for less then what the store wanted to charge us. We are extremely pleased with our new windows and doors and appreciate the professional quality work they performed for us.  We now know who to call for our next project.

Day one- Came on time, around 9am dropped off tools, went to get supplies, came back after short period of time, went straight to work, installed all three doors and locks in the first day and insulated as well. Left around 4pm. Day Two- Came about 9 exactly. Finished all detail work with doors (trim, molding inside and out). Started on Pantry and desk in closets, asked me where all shelving was to be done ( how many shelves, how much room I needed for certain things). Finished pantry and almost finished the desk with shelves. Left about 4pm. Day 3- Came at 9. Finished desk area, added an outlet in the closet for us. Fixed holes in floor do to pervious shelving. Started new closet next to washer and dryer. Made custom space for vacuums, and a place to hang laundry/coats, and shelves for laundry necessities in the new closet. Fixed old bifold doors on the desk closet. Fixed a lose door on pantry. Looked at everything together, talked about future jobs we would eventually need done. They cleaned up and left around 2.

Down Home Repairs owner and assistant performed work. Both were cordial and agreeable to carrying out multiple small home repair projects that the home seller could not perform. Work was completed as agreed upon. The assistant installed trim in closets but did not do a very good job of cleaning up afterward. Walls that had been freshly painted prior to installing the wall trim had to be repainted after Down Home Repairs assistant completed the work. Clean up to new refurbished kitchen floors also had to be done by the home seller. These concern were mentioned to the owner of Down Home Repairs and he took the feedback in a positive, pro-active manner. They were good guys and were earnest in completing their work within timeline and in a professional manner. They were polite, informative, hard working and easy going; any time conscious. I also like that they had me come and look at their work after completing it so they were sure it was satisfactory. I would hire Down Home Repairs again to perform any work on my home property!

I called House Surgeons to come quote installing a replacement back door. At the time I asked for a sliding glass door quote but told them I was not 100% sure. A few days after the quote I called and talked to Melissa about the difference between sliding and just putting another french door in. She explained that I should go to Timberline Mills on Post Rd as this was their preferred door company and were they would order the door from. She also advise that I should talk to them about the difference in the doors they would help me. While at Timber Mills I call Melissa again and spoke with her about what I and Timberline were talking about. I did decide to go with French door again. John the guy at Timberline also spoke with Melissa while I was there so everyone was on the same page. Timberline asked me to please make a deposit, I call Melissa back to tell her what they were telling me. She said to go ahead and they would remove the deposit from the amount owed to House Surgeons. I told her I did not know what size door i need to order and she said they would give Timberline the measurement they took. So I left Timberline feeling as thou I had a good energy efficient door chosen for me house. Three weeks went by and I called House Surgeons to see where the door was to being built and installed. Melissa said she would call Timberline and call me back. When she called back she said it was not ready yet. Another three weeks goes by and I call Melissa again and she tells me she will call Timberline and let me know. She returns this call and says I have to finish paying for the door. I explain I thought they were and she said well it will be easier if you do. So I called Timberline and pay off the door. Two weeks later House Surgeons comes to install the door. In November they remove my old door and install the new one. When I came home that evening I notice my blinds were off centered and I had ice build up on the new door. I called house Surgeons the next day and spoke to them they call Timberline and they said Ice build up meant there was a good seal. And I told them there was unfinished work on the install. Melissa asked if her and owner could come out the next day to see the work. SO we scheduled an appoint for them to view. I arrived at the home and House Surgeons called 5 minutes after appointment and said they were unable to come out. Two weeks later they came out, I came home on lunch and found them on my back porch unannounced. They reviewed the work and determined that some finishing work need to be done/. They also explain that the door I had order was to big so they cut out a stud. I asked why they didnt call me. They said they did it all the time and figured I would want the door installed instead of a wood board over the door way. I told them that was not ok and I need a different door and the stud back. They told me no I order door and gave wrong measurements to Timberline and that there was nothing they could do. So I called Timberline to confirm the measurements of the door and were the measurements were received. They said they got them from Melissa. Now this is when the finger pointing began. Long story short I had to call the insurance company and two engineers later and a year time. They had to install reinforcements for the stud they removed. Then once that was done they sent me a bill via email. I ask that they please send me a break down of the bill to my mailing address. The same day I received the break down bill they threaten me with a lien on my home if I did not pay with in 5 days. The bill had not even been generated till 5 prior to my receiving it. They did not call me to talk about this but sent me an email threatening me of a lien on my home. Never had I seen any bill during this time. I will never use them again. I will not suggest them again. Nothing.
