Recent Review: They were amazing. They did a good job. I could not believe how quickly they did it. It is hard for us to get to our crawl space because my husband is 70 years old and I am 65 years old and I thought that there was no way they could have had it done that quickly, but they did it in a matter of hours. I was totally blown away with their work. They were polite and especially nice. They do treat older folks nice up here. I would absolutely use their services again in the future.

Recent Review: One of my two smoke alarms failed and it was wired in with backup batteries so I could not fix it, had to disconnect at breaker. He (I would have to look up an e mail for the man's actual name) advised me on the phone that Code was smoke and CO detectors and offered to get them, his preferred ones, and bring them over rather than me picking some out. I had several other things I needed advice about, relating to crawl space insulation and a freezing problem I'd had last year under my sink. Now, just this past week my garbage disposal has leaked for the second time, only a small amount; the first time I just screwed it tighter, cleaned up the drips and left it alone.  Several months later it is dropping rusted pieces and also tho no sign of leaks there is water in the cabinet. I purchased a unit at Costco and have called Down Home twice and e mailed once, but no one has called me back or to my knowledge e mailed, so I am going to have someone else do it; the husband of a friend (they own rentals) is going into the handyman business. He has already emailed me about when to come (from yesterday) So I am disappointed about Down Home; I was planning to use them next time. He had e mail receipts and was very organized about everything and extremely personalble. He was doing a big remodel job I think but took time to do mine; I can't explain his failure to at least tell me he doesn't have time right now other than he is out of town or some big problems, sick etc.  The dollar figure above includes over $100 that was the cost of the two smoke detectors (I had both replaced so they were both to Code)and represents more time than just installing them; we went around and into the crawl space to discuss the other things.

DHENRY'S SERVICES INC
We have a 4plex that had the pressure valve on the furnace leak into the crawl space and cause mold damage. When we called Henrys, they gave us a rough estimate of $6000 and a two week timeline. After 4 weeks the work was still not completed. They had dryers going for 18 days and there was still water RUNNING thru the crawl space. I work on the slope and trusted them to handle the situation appropriately. My wife saw that the streets had been dug up in the last few weeks and noticed water RUNNING thru the crawl space. She called the city. They said that the digging may have diverted the water table towards our property. This unit has never had to have a sump pump but one was obviously needed now due to water moving thru the crawl space. Henrys just kept trying to dry out the space with all their machines not realizing it wasn't going to dry out without a sump pump being installed. At week 4 they finally installed a sump pump for $1450. Henrys did take off 10 days of the equipment charge, but did not offer to pay for the high electric bill due to their machines. It took 6 weeks to complete the work and we had to call them back to clean up stuff when they said they were done. They didn't take down the negative pressure tent or remove the plastic on the carpet. The total bill was over $17,000 and we noticed a double charge on the bill. They took off $1300. The work done was to dry out the space, take out and replace one small wall of sheet rock, replace the visqueen, install a sump pump and sand down the wood and apply a coating. This was not covered by insurance so when we got a bill for $17,000 after being quoted around $6000, we were not happy. We understand that mold remediation can be expensive, but $17,000 not covered by insurance was a shock to us. It was a very disruptive experience for our tenants since the work took so long to complete. They had security cameras in their house that showed the workers coming and goings and we need to go thru them to verify the hours billed.

He replaced the leaky waterheater relief valve no problem. After looking at the leaky hosebib he decided there wasnt anything he could do about it. He spent 2 hours at Home Depot getting parts to replumb the drain line and charged me $60 for the time. When I went into the crawl space to look at the sump pump drain I discovered that he had just added a new drain line but had not capped the old drain. The connection to the new drain line that he had just installed leaked. I had him come back the following week to cap the old line and repair the leak in the new line for which he charged me an additional $32. The work wasnt bad as long as you kept an eye on things and pointed out the flaws.

He charged us $4283.50 for windows that he never ordered and now we are taking him to court. For four months he gave excuses why they weren't here. Finally, when I asked for some kind of proof that the windows were actually ordered, he quit returning my calls, email and texts. He flooded our crawl space and left me to rent a sump pump and deal with the mess. He ran cold water to hot side of the vanity sink. Most of the outlet and switch cutouts in the drywall had to be patched by me after he was done. The list goes on and on. He is good at lies and deceit. Don't believe a word he says. Don't let him blame some former business partner. This was all him.

We returned to the state after a two year absence with less than six weeks to finish remodeling our house and get it on the market. When we arrived we had not yet found a general services contractor to perform the majority of the work. When our initial drywall repair person turned out to be less than stellar I contacted Joshua not knowing anything about the type or quality of work he did. The failure of that original drywall person turned out to be one of the best things that happened to us during this project. Joshua wound up doing much more than repairing sheet rock, he was absolutely instrumental in helping us finish the house on time and on budget. The quality of work he did was excellent. He was friendly, professional, on time, cleaned up after his work and his pricing was very reasonable. He was also flat out fun to work with. I recommend him without hesitation.

I had my Alaska housing energy inspection and the inspector said I needed to insulate and properly cover the crawl space.  I am a DIY kinda guy so I bought everything I thought I would need, but I just didn't really enjoy being down there hunched over and crawling around, dealing with insulation and everything else under there. A friend recommended Sam as a guy he had used for this type of grunt work so after checking in my "I can do it myself" man card,  I called Sam.  He gave me some great ideas that were probably a bit too much for what the inspector wanted so after getting clearer instructions from the inspector, I gave Sam basic instructions based on what the inspector said.  All I needed to do was pass the inspection nothing more.  Just cover the dirt with 6 mil plastic sealed to the bottom of the crawlspace wall.  Then hang R-38 fiberglass batts along the crawlspace walls from top to bottom then roll out R-30 fiberglass along the floor.  I took off with the family so he could work without my kids playing around in that nice fluffy fiberglass.   When I got home the next day the first thing I was surprised to see there was no indication he was even there, no trash, no mess, everything looked like it was when I left minus the fiberglass insulation stacked in my garage.  So down to the crawlspace... Wow... he definitely exceeded my expectations, not only was the job done exactly as I had envisioned, but he also taped each fiberglass batt to the one next to it, so it looks really nice and complete, definitely much better than I would have done myself.  I was not expecting that since I did not even supply or mention taping.   The next week I had my furnace replaced and they had to go down into the crawl space to route some drain tubing for the new furnace.  When the guy went down he was amazed at what he saw and had his partner stop what he was doing to come check it out.  Both were surprised and said they had never seen such a well done job of sealing and insulating a crawlspace.  The guy who said that works for works Moore Heating, he also has the same last name.  Anyways, if you are considering this kind of work and want another opinion of the work that was done I am sure he would confirm what he saw.  I wish there was a way to attach a picture to this review. I would 100% recommend Sam to a close friend as a trustworthy individual who is capable of performing any task you put in front of him.
