Recent Review: Brad was great. He was very accommodating, punctual and easy to work with. He had to replace a split level home staircase down to the stringers to meet the muni code and also finish our kitchen( crown molding and island paneling). He was very detailed and had continuous communication with us. Moreover he let us work on the demo with him to save some money. We would consider him for future projects and and recommend his services.

Recent Review: This is our second time bring Dave and son into our home for work and again they nailed it! We did a full remodel of a bathroom and it turned out so beautiful! There is a lot of uneven and sub-standard work that they had to work around to get things to be done right and look nice and we couldn't be more happy with the outcome. All this for a reasonable price. I also appreciate how Dave pays attention to the little details to make sure everything is done right. We call Jensen Construction for any of our home repair needs, big or small!

Recent Review: We had 2 1/2 baths remodeled. Overall we are happy with how bathrooms turned out. Working with Ted and his son started off very well; but as job progressed there was a definite lack of communication and many misunderstandings. Ted is very much into following installation 'guidelines'; however they are just guidelines and every home is different and poses different challenges. In the end it seemed that we had to point out several little discrepancies with his work and it became very frustrating at times. He prides himself on being very neat and cleaning up after himself. We did not see that in our home. We have gone through interior remodels before in other homes we have owned; and we did not see a lot of 'common sense' when it came to working within the home and creating vapor barriers or even cleaning up areas where he was cutting tile/flooring. A lot of this could have been avoided if planned differently. Also, towards the end, felt like he was 'nickel and diming' costs. Charging costs of changes on us due to lack of communication as well as transporting costs (which he never mentioned). Again, this could have been avoided if communication would have been better. I am thinking Ted's experience would be better suited for outdoor projects like building a deck versus interior remodeling.

Recent Review: JCB Construction provided labor for post earthquake repairs and kitchen remodel February 19-March 21, 2019. The owner, James, and son Ryan did an excellent job. Their work was meticulous, manner reassuring and workmanship exemplary. The project took longer than scheduled but we were not dissatisfied due to circumstances discussed below. We appreciate JCB Construction’s job so much that we are having JCB remodel our master bath in April, 2019. Here is a detailed review. This job was our first major remodel. The 2018 quake caused structural damage to deck supports that were installed improperly when the home was constructed in 1982. We insisted upon municipal permits and inspections for the deck work. A guest bathroom downstairs needed total replacement of floors and shower surround with porcelain tile. Drywall cracks and compromised joints were concentrated downstairs. Drywall work was needed downstairs in two rooms and stairwell in addition to the bathroom. Since we were having these repaired, we decided to have an overdue remodel of the kitchen: modern cabinets installed, over-range microwave with vent through the ceiling, porcelain floors, new porcelain flooring and glass backsplash. We opted not to have minor drywall repairs done upstairs. With the exception of a subcontracted pile driver for deck supports, James and Ryan did all the skilled labor themselves. Their skill and attention to detail were evident throughout the job. We were asked, advised and included in many small decisions regarding details along the way. We attempted to have most materials, fixtures and connections on hand at the job’s start. We made some mistakes in choosing just the right stuff. James and Ryan were very patient in getting us the right stuff. Often the workers would insist on doing some detail work BETTER AND NICER than we expected. They were always right and the result more satisfactory than our way. James and Ryan are very skilled at all aspects of our project: demolition, drywall, plumbing, minor electrical, tile, cabinet installation, finish work and painting. The pile driver James hired for the deck was swift, professional and friendly. In the bidding process, James provided references who attested to skill in more extensive renovation projects. The project DID take longer than planned. Some of our mistakes in ordering supplies resulted in lost time. The granite install started a bit late and fabrication took a week. For a couple of days tile work was stalled waiting for the granite install. Rightly so, the tile installer worked these days at the next job. Workers were on site every day except these two days and weekends. We never felt like we were slighted to accommodate another job. Wisely, James planned a week between our job and the next scheduled job. James was very supportive in assuring us that the finished job would be worth minor delays and snags along the way, Cost listed below is for labor and supplies. We purchased cabinets, appliances, tile and fixtures ahead of time.

Recent Review: Preferred Home Builders are amazing and deserve every great review you see on here. Our project was to convert a detached garage into a guest house on one side and a multipurpose room on the other. We received bids from multiple contractors but Omri won us over for several reasons. He was extremely patient during the planning process which ultimately took several months before we broke ground. This was because everything was being built to code and we need to replace the existing garage with a carport. We had a difficult piece of land to work with but Omri and his engineers came up with a brilliant way to design a carport that could be used as a patio. The design and and dual use of the carport requirement worked perfectly for our needs. Additionally we are adjacent to the LA Metro Orange Line and needed extensive permitting and blueprint design specifications to satisfy the city, DWP, and MTA. The team at Preferred Home builders were amazing at navigating all the different departments. With regards to the construction process, my wife and I could not be happier. We have done several renovations and even had a house built but never in all our experiences have we worked with a better Contractor and team. Michelle, the project coordinator was brilliant. She was aways accessible and kept us up to date with everything all along the way. We received a weekly calendar of work to be done each day. To or amazement, the foreman and his crew were right on track, working everyday, even Saturdays if they need to catch up a day. The foreman and his crew were fantastic. Like I said before, we have had a lot of experiences with contractors, many of them becoming nightmares - going over budget, starting projects and then disappearing, inexperienced workers, and just plain lousy work. Not with Preferred. Doron and his crew were here everyday. And as a side note, it was the same crew everyday, not a revolving door of random workers. The same team built the project from start to finish. The electrical and plumbing contractors used were top notch. They didn't take any shortcuts. Everything was done to the highest quality with amazing attention to detail. The finishing and workmanship was fantastic. As in all construction there were a couple of times where we need to make changes to the existing plans - we decided we wanted a tankless water heater instead of running hot water from the main tank - but PHB were very accommodating and negotiated extremely fair prices for the changes. We also wanted very specific soundproofing technologies worked into the utility room such as a raised floor floating walls and ceiling, green glue applications and a lot more, all of which were factored into the original price from the beginning and PHB stuck to the agree on price even when it clearly became much more work than anticipated. In the end we could not be happier with the completed project. Omri and PHB is the best contractor we have ever worked with hands down. Omri was there for us from the beginning of the project thru to the end. He treated it as if it was his own. Any questions or concerns, Omri was available by text or phone and would come by to personally inspect things. I realise this is a long review, but I can not stress enough how good PHB are. The money and frustration you save by working with one construction company that handles the entire project pays for itself. PHB are conscientious, professional and most of all have integrity.

Recent Review: Dan completed a bathroom remodel for me on a very short timeline.  Work included demo of existing bathroom,  new stone tile floor, replacing wall mount toilet, installing 2 pocket doors, drywall repair, painting and coordination with the cabinet maker / corian installer.  Work was outstanding as usual!  Dan has done a lot of remodel work for me, and continues to be my go-to-guy for all home repairs and upgrades!

Chuck was an excellent contractor. He was always upfront and allowed me to do some demolition to save some money. He also allowed me to buy his materials when he gave me a list so I wouldn't have to pay him an hourly rate to pick up materials that I could pick up. Sometimes he still had to stop at Lowes but he didn't spend much time there. I also did the painting which is easy stuff to save money and move the project along so he could do what he did best--carpentry construction, install the shower pan, tile the shower, install the vanity, and tile the floor. He never assumed anything. He was concerned the way a craftsman should be and he called me when he had a question or a problem. I usually deferred to his judgement. Chuck always had a few ideas or techniques that would actually save time and remind me why I hired a professional, like using certain materials that were better in the long run. He was trustworthy. I was not around during most of his work, because I work, and there was never a problem with it. He was also creative. He helped redesign the bathroom. He figured out how to make the heat vent come out the bottom of the vanity so we didn't have to cut another hole in the floor. He also tiled beautifully in general. He even tiled with tile molding around the bullnose divider wall better than I imagined anyone could. He was not fast and he wasn't slow. He did solid work and is a nice person who got along with my wife and family. I gave him all A's, except one B for price. His hourly rate is within range of the other good ones. But these projects still get expensive. If you want it done right you have to spend the money. I would definitely recommend him to any of my friends.

It was great. We’ve decided to go ahead and get our remodeling job done by them. Overall, our experience with them was good. They were able to layout the practicality of different options that we were considering, so that we could make choices; I thought it was useful. I would like to see how our remodeling job comes out before I really pass judgment. They are going to have the design plan for us next week.
