AM & M ELECTRIC INC
It went very well. M&M was on time, extremely professional, and had everything with them they needed - even replaced a broken doorbell, which wasn't on the original list of items needed/requested to have done.

Tech was on time and polite. He was knowledgeable. First problem was to solve a light that did not work. He found that it had been wired incorrectly at the switch and rewired it so that appropriate current made it to the fixture. Second problem was to separate a bathroom light and outlet which were powered by a switch so that the outlet remained powered at all time. He was able to determine that it was not possible because of the way the house had been wired. Although that wasn't what I hoped for, I had a better understanding of the wiring in the old house we live in.

Christa did a great job, she arrived on time was very professional and in constant communication of what was going on while running wires under the floor in the crawl space. She dealt with unexpected issues such as fishing wires in walls without a problem. Would recommend the team at Redi Electric.

Excellent.  Samir was a consummate professional who took the time to explain to me what was wrong, went the extra mile to look for problems without trying to find or recommend unneeded work.  He didn't accept credit cards but that was fine.  Totally recommend him and will absolutely use him for all future needs. AAUTO ELECTRIC SALES & SVC
This is a business that is known by many Technicians in the Anchorage area to have excellent customer service, very reasonable prices, and a stock of a wide variety of common and even not-so-common electrical parts for Automotive and Industrial applications. Items such as starters, alternators, lights, switches, relays, solenoids, fuses, batteries, chargers, any kind of cold start item under the sun... Their selection is specialized but very comprehensive and in the off chance they don't immediately have something you need, they will absolutely go out of their way to get you the right part in a timely manner. I have done business with them many times and always been impressed.

FRAVEN ELECTRIC INC
Had a scheduled appointment at 1 pm.  At 2 pm, I called the company and they said 2 of their electricians called in sick.  He said they thought they called everyone to reschedule.  They did not call me.  After telling me several more times their electricians called in sick, he offered to reschedule the following week.  After taking over a month in order for someone to come out for a quote (coming out on a different day for the estimate than scheduled), getting the quote and then the appointment (of which, company did not respond to my email and I had to call them to schedule), I told the company I would take my business elsewhere.

FRAVEN ELECTRIC INC
Had a scheduled appointment for 9:30 in the morning. I left work to be at home. At 10:30 am I called them and asked if there was a problem. They told me there was no problem but they only had one guy and he had an emergency that morning. While I appreciate that an "emergency" may take priority over my appointment a phone call advising me would have been nice. I suspect they knew early on that there was an "emergency" and could have called my office so I didn't take time off work to sit at my house. My other question over this was "they only have ONE guy?" At 11:45 they finally showed up.  2 gentlemen.  One older and obviously supervising, the other younger...The gentlemen were nice and fairly professional.  I showed them the closet and told them I was re-configuring it for storage and I wanted lots of light. They said no problem. I told them if they had questions to please ask me and I left them to it and went into another room, same floor.  At 12:45ish  the older gentlemen told me they were done and while he was cleaning up the mess I took a look. They had installed a light fixture with ONE bulb availability!  Stupid me, it had been so long since I had seen just a ONE bulb fixture I hadn't realized I should have been more specific.  I said to the younger gentlemen that I wanted a 2 fixture and he said "too late now"!! and chuckled as he walked out with their ladder. At that moment I was done.  I paid the invoice.  Said thank you and showed them to the door.  I won't be calling back for the remaining electrical work I need done. I don't trust them now.

ATsunami Electrical
Chad and Michael showed up at 8:00 am exactly as I requested. I know that showing up on time is considered half the battle, but these guys were competent professionals in the service provided as well. Chad even had to go up into the attic to retrieve the hot wire because the HVAC installer did not leave it hanging from the new master bath fan he had put in the ceiling. There are two switches in the bath. Chad took the time to make sure he wired it as I wanted -- fan and light from one switch, night light from switch by the door. They also discussed with me exactly where I wanted the humidistat in the crawl space. Chad persuaded me to put it in the center where measurement of humidity would be more reflective of the crawl space humidity than by the light switch at the door. Tsunami's estimate for the work provided was less than half that of M&M Electric's estimate for exactly the same job. Both companies have A+ ratings from Anchorage Better Business Bureau; and so I had no qualms about selecting Tsunami to do the job. I am glad I did. Goes to show the importance of getting more than one estimate for even small jobs.

ACalgreen Electric & Plumbing/JkKI Elec. & Plumbing
Jerry was very professional and he made us feel like the job (which we considered fairly big) was in good hands.  He was at our house with 2 other men for about a day and a half of solid work.  Jerry was also happy to fix a few little electrical probelms we had discovered while he was there.  Jerry was very friendly and we enjoyed giving him our business.  He also came back later to fix a faulty photocell for one of the outdoor fixtures, which we really appreciated.  It has now been a couple months and we absolutely are very happy with all of his work.  It's like we have a new backyard with all the new lighting and we feel safer that the pool light wiring has been updated.  He was very clean and efficient and we felt that we got a lot of work for our money.  We will definitley hire Jerry again next time we need an electrician or plumber!

Recent Review: Through this house remodeling project we had the opportunity to work with many Contractors and what we particularly appreciated with Dragan (and his crew) was his willingness to do our type of remodel work (as opposed to new work), his responsiveness whenever we got to the point where it was time for him to work his electrical magic, his indepth knowledge of electrical code, his professionalism, and his high quality of workmanship. I would often get ideas about what I would like, how I would like the electrical to be done, or a particular lighting product that I was interested in. When I would share them with Dragan he was great at identifying which ideas did not fall in line with codes and requirements and then helped present an alternative plan that got me what I was ultimately wanting but in a way that satisfied code. This is extremely important for passing final inspection, which we did just yesterday! Dragan is also very good working with the inspectors. Additionally, when I had a crazy electrical idea that would make life easier for me living in my house throughout the future, but was a pain in the butt to accomplish, as long as it was within code Dragan and his crew got it done for me. We really appreciate all of their hard work.

Recent Review: CalGreen was very professional and extremely helpful throughout the entire process.  Quotes provided at the beginning of the job were spot on.  I've already had them back to replace a light switch and install a ceiling fan.

Recent Review: When he came to do the quote, I explained to him what I wanted and that keeping costs low was as important to me as having something built to last. He was really patient with explaining all of my options, the pros and cons of each, and price differences. He was creative in coming up with my options and willing to customize things how I wanted, as long as they met code and were structurally sound. He answered all of my questions, even ones I know must have sounded stupid (like what's a piling and if you do a small concrete pad, can you make it a bigger concrete pad later when I have more money). Everywhere he could see to cut costs without reducing quality, he pointed it out. He got me the bid quickly and in the promised time frame. He said he could buy the lumber and I could pay him or, if I have a rewards credit card, I could use that to buy the lumber myself (hello, AK Air Miles!). Either way it was the same cost. He called in the order then I called in to pay and to arrange delivery. He started the project on time and worked very fast (he is very efficient). He built the whole thing in 2 days (after the concrete was dry -- preparing and installing the concrete was done in one morning but then we had to wait days for it to dry). Both he and his assistant were very courteous. He kept me informed of the progress and let me know what to expect at each step (like the need to keep the dog off the wet concrete!). He noticed that my gate sagged a lot and was difficult to open. He offered to fix it while he was there for very little money because it was a quick fix for him. My stairs are still holding strong a year later (just like new) and are exactly what I needed. I could not be more pleased with them. On my indoor projects, he was very clean. He took his boots off at the door, he used drop cloths and the like to minimize mess, and he leaves the area clean. That is SO refreshing. He has attention to detail and makes sure everything is done right, no matter how small. I showed him all the things I needed done, he got all the parts and things he needed, and did almost everything in one day (some things like the drywall mud and tile had to dry before he could finish them). Overall, he was very knowledgeable about materials, building codes, procedures for building and fixing things, and my options. He was very professional. Even though we had met socially before, he really put on his "contractor hat" and was in business mode when he came to do the quote and the work. I have since recommended him to others and one of my coworkers is a repeat customer who is also very pleased with him. Note: I will disclose that I am presently (Oct. 2012) dating the owner of this business. However, at the time I hired him to build my deck stairs, I was not and had only just met him. When I met him, I told him that I needed stairs built, that I had just gotten a quote from a leading deck company in town that had done my neighbor's deck, and asked him for a quote. He came in with a quote lower than the other company. After checking his references and looking at his portfolio of other work, I contracted him to do the work. I am receiving no compensation or other incentive for writing this review. I have only including in this review the projects that I have hired him to do and compensated him for, though all of the things he has done since as part of my "honey-do" list have been excellent! As much as I'd like to think he worked so hard just to impress me, I know from seeing his other work that he is just an excellent contractor.

Recent Review: Repairman removed old fixture and installed the new one, however, they fan didn't work. He said the switch was bad and it was not getting enough power to the unit. While troubleshooting the glass on the new fixture fell and broke. He went and bought a new fixture and replaced it. Fan still wasn't working so he rewired the switch box and the fan still was not working. So it turned out that the fan bad and he replaced the fan with the one he bought. Then told me what it cost ($577.00) and started loading his tools. I asked him for an invoice and he stated his boss would email it to me. Now he hands me his phone and says his boss is on the phone at which time says something to the effect that it should have costed more to do the work but since the repairman told me a price he wouldn't charge me more money which he could and maybe next time i'll call them to do repairs. So I wasn't to keen about those remarks because they broke the glass on the fixture I bought so I can't return it. I provided the wood for the fixture install and the saw to cut it. The switch to the light now controls the fan so i can't leave the fan on without the light being on. I was told to buy a new face plate and put washers to lower glass so there is a space for ventilation. Not to mention at this time, the next day at noon, I have not received the Email with my receipt
