The overall outcome of the projects was amateur. The general theme of their work was continual short cutting. After multiple call backs to fix problems, I have given up and have paid/ will pay other contractors to fix their work. The contractor never specified a total estimated completion time for the projects and they ended up taking over five weeks to complete them, all the while crowding my back porch, yard, and garage with their supplies and tools. They kept pulling off my job to go ?put out fires? at their other projects. They often didn?t work full days and did not show up as Jeff had promised. When I complained about this, Jeff would get defensive (though he never has a bad temper and never raises his voice) and would say he never said that he would be there on that day. My memory is not that bad and I was very clearly paying attention to what I was told by him. The gutters were hanging off the roof loosely, were not pitched correctly, were holding water, were leaking, and were visually unappealing. They attempted to fix them, but there was little improvement. I had to pay another gutter company to remove them and hang them properly. Now I have many extra holes in my fascia and the drip edge looks like it has been bent multiple times. I still need to fill all of the holes. The sidewalks look amateur, have low spots, and there is already slight cracking in one spot. They ran out of concrete for the last section after they spilled it all over my landscaping and never cleaned that up. Jeff claimed that they could pour additional concrete on top and it would not crack because it would be fine if they poured at least 2 inches. The problem was that there was only an inch left to pour in most places. He insisted there was 2 inches. I measured it. It was like talking to a wall. The color of that section also does not match the others. The fence end product looks fine. However, they attempted to use my 10 plus year old posts. They had to redo their work after I refused to allow that. They also cut off the old posts at the ground and I had to have them go back and dig them out. My contract says they were to put lattice at the top of the front section of fence. When they were nearly finished with the front section, there was no lattice. I agreed they could put it at the top of the gate only. They made multiple attempts at adding lattice to the top of a premade gate. It looks terrible and it is already falling apart and the gate does not work properly when it rains. Jeff also claimed he did not include the cost of the gate latch in his estimate, so he asked me to add additional money for that. For the French drain connections, they used duct tape which became exposed as the water washed away the new dirt. It will eventually fall off and it looks ridiculous. Jeff?s crews asked if they could put the dirt they removed from the sidewalk installation around my yard (it contains a lot of river gravel). If I hadn?t spoken up multiple times, they would have put it all over in ridiculous places. The gravel has left a complete mess for me to fix. Jeff and his crews drank my bottled water in my garage without permission, but let me know they did this and hoped I didn?t mind. As far as cleanup, they did pick up their trash every day, but in the end, left a general mess of extra dirt, gravel, concrete, and damaged landscaping. I expected some landscape destruction, but this was much more than expected. There is not enough room to list all of the strange experiences and problems with this contractor.
