Reviews in Tampa Bay to Replace Ductwork

AAirMedics
Professional and courteous, friendly on phone.  Answered all my questions.  I'd already researched air duct cleaning, and he met all the expectations of what a good cleaning entailed.  (My allergies and sinus problems were getting worse, so I narrowed it down to the ductwork in the house.) Called to say he was running late.  Friendly upon arrival.  Removed 9 grilles and cleaned them out on the driveway.  Brought in the vacuum and cleaned all ductwork while I was outside with the pets.  Very noisy!  Re-installed all the grilles.  Cleaned the inside unit and replaced filter with one I had available.  Sprayed an organic mold inhibitor into the air unit, which circulated inside all the ductwork.  The smell was minimal and dissipated quickly.  Explained his 9 month guarantee, but also suggested some mold inhibitor sprays which i could use myself.

Service was excellent from start to finish.  The estimate and sale was handled professionally by Linda.  The installation went very smoothly and the team, Ray and Antonio, got the job done on time and on budget.  They were excellent communicators and worked very cleanly keeping my home spotless despite the potential for mess.  I am very satisfied and feel confident in recommending Air Masters of Tampa Bay.

Not well. The initial installation went OK. One of the installers dropped a piece from our attic and broke through the ceiling in the hallway - but he did come back and patch it up. The real problems happened when the pump that they installed failed(they installed an old pump). Once F&S's came out to see it, they did not notice that my tennant had bypassed the pump to get the unit working(nor did they realize the pump had failed), and that resulted in a puddle forming around the AC unit the next day. Then, we had some issues with water leaking from the AC vents they installed, as it was starting to drip down our walls. After realizing this issue, we tried calling Father Sons out, but they were never able to 'get a hold of us' to schedule a time to come out and fix it. After waiting for them to 'catch me' on the phone, we had a survey of the unit done, and have come to realize that there were far more issues than we realized; - There is no mastic sealing the plenum - The registers arent insulated properly - The ducts arent sealed to the plenum - There is a huge gap allowing how attic air into the air intake on the aid handler - An old condensate pump was used instead of a new one with the install which is failing. No pressure is being produced. It has been two weeks since I initially reached out to Father and Sons to remedy this...I still have not been able to get on the phone with someone who can give me a resolution. I would not reccomend F&S

AJTF AIR LLC
Scotty was prompt and professional. He was recommended by my realtor and this wasn't the first time he had worked on the A/C at the house. He corrected some errors from the installation done 2 years ago by another company that wasn't familiar with the training on this particular series of TRANE units. No matter what the issue, I've been able to call Scotty and he makes it out ASAP to get the job done. The cost has been affordable. I'm not saying he's trustworthy, I'm just saying I leave a key for him and he takes care of the issue and bills me. I would recommend JTF to anyone.

I had my A/C system serviced by Vincent of Veteran Air.  He was prompt, thorough, professional and informative.  I learned a lot about my 1957 home's A/C system and its issues from Vincent and appreciated that he took the time to come up with a good plan to address the old ductwork and to increase the efficiency of my A/C unit in the old house; and likely upgrade the A/C at some point in the next year or two.  I plan to hire Veteran to design the new replacement ductwork and vents this  winter.  Veteran Air (and Vincent) are staying in my "go to" list when I need HVAC help.

It was very good. Mr Love, a project foreman, came out looked at the house, gave us several options, prices and explained good, better and best.  We chose like a mid range.  The gentleman who installed were excellent and worked nonstop from the time they got there until the evening.  There was no AC in the house so they had to install ductwork and cut into the attic.  My neighbors saw them working and came and got a quote.  The price they gave us was almost $3000 cheaper then anyone else.

Every staff member that I interacted with from my initial call to the installers were extremely professional. Joe, their ductwork engineer, was early for our initial assessment. He provided me with the insight on how bad our system was with disrupted connections, torn insulation, contaminated ductwork and poor design. He was able to give us his recommendations and quote immediately. He was not a salesman and did not try and sell us more then what was needed. Due to the large job he expected the job to take at least 2 days and was considerate enough to have a portable A/C unit delivered to accommodate our family which includes 2 small children. Alan and Kyle the mechanical installers were very professional as well. They were early for the appointment and reviewed the design with me prior to starting. They made sure to lay down drop cloths over their work area and maintained a clean environment. They consulted me on the placement of every return and supply to make sure I was satisfied. Once finished they did a thorough clean up and ran the system to assure it was working properly. Our air condition is working much better and is cooling every room equally. I'm sure this will be a huge savings onmy energy bill especially in the up coming summer months. I was extremely happy with the professionalism of Bayside Heating and Air and would highly recommend them to anyone.

FTony Howard
Tony Howard is NOT licensed and has been reported to the PCCLB. He was fined $500 for operating without a license. He turned a simple request to replace ductwork into a domino effect to replace the entire a/c system and did not complete the job correctly. We had to call in a second a/c company to correct the problem and have spent three times the amount of money we should have to fix Tony's shoddy workmanship.

Recent Review: The house had been a smokers house for 30 years, and had just been cleaned and repainted, but the air ducts still had that smokers smell. ACR came and cleaned the air ducts, and now the house smells clean, and smoke free . Amazing job, very happy with the results.

Recent Review: The original visit for an evaluation was provided by Jim Heinz, the owner.  He was the only company out of 6 that actually looked at the outside and inside unit and the ducts in the attic to determine if the system could be repaired instead of immediately replaced.  An estimate was provided after it was determined that the unit could not be repaired,  for the Heat Pump and the air ducts in the attic.  The company was able to provide financing options for the entire system and came out when requested to replace the entire system.  There were a few minor problems with the installation, the technicians realized that they brought the wrong outside air conditioning unit and had to go back to the company to bring the correct one, then they put putty over the old box that connects the inside furnace unit to the entire air duct system instead of replacing it with a new box, and they forgot to install the inside power switch needed for building code requirements. (There was a breaker next to the outside unit and in the garage already, but the code required a switch next to the inside unit.) When I called to notify Jim Heinz of the problems with the box and the power switch, he immediately apologized and took care of all of the problems courteously and without additional cost. Installation took 2 days to complete, but the technicians were professional. I picked this company because of the ratings of the company on Angie's List and the BBB and the honesty of the owner. Despite the problems that I encountered the company proved that they deserve their reputation of excellence and honesty. The Bryant system works wonderfully and quietly and the house cools down very quickly. I will only use Heinz for all of my maintenance and heating and cooling needs.
