Recent Review: Steve is very professional and very reliable. The house was vacant and I have to work with him through my agent. His repair price is very competitive, job is well done. The original house's under gravel retaining walls were not waterproofed and had some under water getting into the crawl space under the house. He did waterproof on both sides of retaining walls. He removed the outside planters dirt for around 8 ft depth and applied waterproof seal on outside first and then inside of the crawl space under the house. The job was done less than 6 working days. He also fixed the patio deck for my house, the deck had few rotten plywood areas and had soft spots when you step on it. He cut out the area and replace with new plywood, textured and resealed the cracks then applied deck coating. Through out the entire project, Steve took pictures and sent to me daily for progress update. He is someone you can trust for his words and jobs. I certainly will use his services when next project come along.

Recent Review: Russ was very professional and detailed in his approach.  The estimate he provided was 10 pages with photos, explanation of the issues and the proposed solution.  He was bidding against another contractor, and although Acuterra's estimate was slightly more, we are very happy we chose Acuterra.  All work was performed by highly qualified and well-trained technicians.  Russ visited the job site several times.  We changed the work plan several times during implementation, and Russ was very accommodating.  I highly recommend Acuterra for their quality of service and professionalism.

Recent Review: Really enjoyed doing business with these guys. Chris, Carlos, and Francis did and excellent job on the project and excelled above all expectations. The company was responsive, flexible, and affordable and, while the job was only recently completed, I have zero expectation that I will experience any problems or complications and even if I do, I suspect Anthony/Chris will be extremely responsive.

Recent Review: We met with Dana and I was immediately impressed with his promptness. His knowledge was even more impressive. He took the time to explain all of the issues that we were having due to the lack of adequate water proofing. He could have easily talked us into a very high priced solution to our water proof problem but instead, he gave us ideas to make our home ?water resistant?. Thank you Dana for all of your information!

Recent Review: On time, very neat work, without having been asked, Franco installed waterproof shelf-liner paper.  It was a job that I had considered doing, but was frankly overwhelmed by the carpentry required. The center post of the cabinetry would not permit a single piece replacement.  Franco even laughed at my plumber's jokes.   We will be using him again soon.

RENEW EXTERIORS INC
Recent Review: I am very pleased with all aspects of their work from prompt initial response to professional and detailed written estimate (the others just wrote a price on the back of their business card) to the completed job. From the outset, it was clear that Dave was interested in doing the job properly, including addressing waterproofing issues. They maintained contact, showed up when promised, did an excellent, careful and professional job, and cleaned up and hauled away their mess. This was a detailed job with a lot of corners (which are neat, even and square). The texture matches existing stucco perfectly.

Cabrillo Craftsman
Recent Review: I originally hired Cabrillo for the excavation, concrete and framing work for our two story add-on. Derricks communication and service was always top-notch. Every other day he was giving us cost saving ideas...conscious of our budget. He does excellent quality, and has a good idea for detail. The framing and concrete were spot-on. This was a big project too involving a slab basement, 17x19 master bedroom...etc. It wasn't the plan but I ended up hiring him and his team for many other projects to get the add-on complete including waterproofing, plumbing, shower installation, windows, trim.... I already had others lined up for stucco and roofing, otherwise I'm sure he could have done it. I already have hired him again, so yes I would do it again.

R&M Construction
Recent Review: We've heard horror stories about contractors and projects being left or taking forever. We are so ecstatic that we went with R&M Construction for an immediate need to renovate a portion of our home. I found them on Angie's List with great reviews as well as the Better Business Bureau high rating. We interviewed them for a bid, along with other General Contractors. We were impressed with our initial R&M meeting (3 came, including the head of the company, Randy) and after talking to a few of their customers for references, we were convinced to use them. They weren't the cheapest or the most expensive, but well worth it from our experience and interviews/bids from others. Randy (President) and his staff,  including Project Mgr. Derrick, were very professional, prompt, polite, accommodating, thorough, reachable, communicative, and patient. They answered all of our questions, were on track with communication, scheduling, and Derrick always checked on the crew daily...in person as well as by phone. The crew were great too...very polite, respectful, covered everything with plastic very well, created barriers to not affect the rest of the home, careful with moving our belongings, cleaned up every time, protected surfaces/property, and professional. These guys know what they are doing and do it well.  Randy (owner/Pres.) was also very available, even by his cell phone, whenever we needed him for any question, or additional meetings for more quotes, etc. Any request was met and they went above and beyond for us. Even when it came to Randy speaking to our insurance company to help us out. We are very happy with the way it all turned out and looks like nothing ever happened. Actually, it all looks better with fresh coats of paint they put, also in adjacent rooms and ceiling to blend in perfectly along the same wall. Nothing is left looking like a patch job. They also used better materials. These guys are meticulous and pros. I was lucky to have Jody as one of the crew the entire time since he's very experienced, polite, friendly, and takes pride in his work. Les and Guerra were great guys too...all very good and hard workers. Additionally, we are pleased with the time it took to complete the project. We highly recommend R&M and would definitely use them again!

Tafoya Construction
Recent Review: I brought in three contractors for bids on this project.  The bids ranged from $13,400 (Tafoya) to $26,000 dollars. These guys are great.  They show up when they say they will, start work promptly, work hard all day, and clean up before they end the day.  This job involved moving plants, sprinkler piping, mulch, and dirt away from the house so they could hand-dig the trench beside the foundation.  They kept the moved plants watered and in good shape for the two-plus weeks it took to do the job.  When they finished, everything was back in its place. Jorge and his team are very professional and know what they're doing.  There were no cost over-runs or hidden expenses.  As one would expect with an old house, once they dug down they found out there was no footing under the front porch steps, so they had to pour some concrete to support it and put up the waterproofing, this added $500 to the overall cost; which I thought was reasonable and acceptable. Not only do I recommend Jorge, this is who I will turn to for all future construction/repair of my home.

Reviews in San Diego to Waterproof Crawl Space

ABasement Detective
Basement Detective was extremely flexible during the estimation and repair process.  The property where the work was performed is currently a rental property, but I do intend on moving back into the home.  A poor initial design on the basement walkout drainage system meant every hard rain there was a significant risk of flooding the basement.  Basement Detective provided an effective solution to the problem and there have been several hard rain events, including Hurricane Sandy, to know that the solution works.  Nobody ever wants to spend money on basement waterproofing, but this fix was well worth the money.  I would definitely use them again for any drainage challenges in or around a home.

I wasn’t able to go through with his recommendations. He was thorough in his analysis. He said that I should dig away from the outside and it was just too big of a project for right now.
