POND CREW
Recent Review: He ended up asking for money because it involved more labor. He quoted $750 and wanted $950, but I refused and we stuck to the price he initially quoted. A few months ago my pump stopped working and this is essential for the filtration and the whole cycle of the water. I had a hard time getting in touch with him to come out and help me remove the pump from the tubing. He had to apply several different attachments to fit the tubing to the opening of the pump. he actually glued the pieces. I had to remove the pump to take it back to the store to get a replacement. He said they never put glue when they attach the pump to the tubing. He told me to try pulling it and I did, my husband even tried. I am still trying to get people to disconnect it so I can return the pump. I wasn't able to get in touch with him, he wasn't returning my calls, at one point his message box was full. he has two phone numbers and neither of them were accepting calls, it is frustrating. I have a 1,300 gallon pond and for two days the water wasn't running and I had 25 fish and I had to take care of the matter myself. he wasn't available for me when I needed him period. He collected the money and he didn't follow up or follow through with problems that later came up. This is my complaint and for some people it may be insignificant but when you hire somebody they should be available to fix any problems that come up later on. His company is very famous for building water features for businesses all around San Antonio and near by counties. His company does volunteer work for pets, but when it comes to a small residential job, he most likely takes up a larger project that pays a larger amount of money instead of the no job is too small. He did show up for the job on time but on the other hand when a problem came up I wasn't able to get him to help me.

A SPRINKLER DOCTOR
Recent Review: We purchased a pond kit several years ago and finally installed it last year. The upper and lower ponds were hard plastic. First the upper pond sprung a leak and then the lower. All of our fish died in the heat this summer. Dwight came in and lined both the upper and lower ponds. Before that he shored up the foundation of both ponds. Everything has been functioning well and our new fish are thriving after about a month.

They came on time day following a consultation.  Finished everything in one day.  Thoruoughly cleaned the pond, left everything in good order when they were finished.  Appeared to be very knowledgeable about ponds, plants, fish, and equipment.

In my backyard i have a 40 foot stream and pond that was installed in 2006.  Over time, the waterfall box had sunk in the rear and was losing water over the back and sides.  I knew I wasn't going to have any time to try and repair this myself, so I contacted Pond Care of San Antonio via their website on Friday night, and by Saturday morning I had received a call from Karl Stewart.  Karl came out that same afternoon to look at my situation further and provide an estimate.  It was clear from the beginning that Karl was very knowledgeable on ponds and pond construction.  In looking at my setup, he noticed that the original installer had taken some shortcuts in installing the system, and that since he would be pulling the waterfall box out anyway to reposition it, he would try to go ahead and replumb it the right way (the original installer had simply laid the recirculating water line over and into the box, rather than running the line lower underground and connecting it right into the box).  Karl indicated he had availability on Tuesday and his estimate was very reasonable, so we made arrangements for him to come out on Tuesday to do the work. On Tuesday, Karl arrived in the morning and spent most of the day on the project.  He completely pulled out the waterfall box, sanded and compacted a new base layer, re-angled the waterfall box to the right position so that it would flow correctly without losing water out of the rear or sides, addressed all of the plumbing opportunities by reinstalling the proper way, improved the layout of the rocks and waterfall, and did some fine tuning of the 40' stream that leads to the pond.  He then took time to explain everything he had done to my wife.  When I came home to see the repairs, I was totally thrilled with the outcome.  Karl showed that he is a true professional when it comes to water features and really knows this space.  I will definitely use him again should any other issues arrive with my pond and highly recommend his services.
