A & E Ultimate Design
Recent Review: We started construction in mid December. Everything went well for the demolition except we weren't sure where the load bearing beam for that part of the house was and it wasn't clear without getting into the walls / ceiling. That was the only complication which we found that one of the walls we wanted torn down was load bearing and the beam went right down the middle of the kitchen. Thanks to some creative thought though, we put in a support which took place of the wall which we covered in a very nice archway that looked better than we had planned with just leaving it open. Construction continued with little difficulty other than some nasty snow storms which halted work for a little bit. Everything went well except for the appliances we ordered from our appliance guy got delayed. Long story short, the shop we bought appliances through couldn't deliver them and couldn't get the dimensions of the appliances figured out, so that basically put a two month delay on finishing up until we canceled our order and went online to get similar appliances shipped and sizing specifications worked out. Thankfully A&E coped with the delay on our end very well and was patient through that until we finally got the last appliance in mid March which allowed them to finish up the rest of the job in record time. The cabinets we went with was a modern mission style and we were so pleased with the results and look of it we had a custom carved door for the pantry commissioned to give the kitchen a completely one of a kind and unique look with a matching mantel for our fireplace (work on that is about to start) at a great rate. With the lighter colored off white / yellow granite counter top and dark stained wood with stainless steel appliances, our kitchen both looks amazing and is incredibly functional with double ovens (one convection one combi-steam oven) and 36" range top. The best part about the job was the quality of work done on all of it. The second best part about it all was the price. He was priced more aggressively than any others beating out custom cabinets from Costco in both price and quality, worked with us to take a rough idea for a kitchen and give us something far nicer and functional than we had hoped for. We are just finishing up the final touches (paint and a little bit of crown molding which they made themselves, again, completely unique and one of a kind look) and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The only negative part of the whole thing was our original source for appliances which A&E was very patient in the delays they caused and were quick to get the job wrapped up once we had it figured out.

To finish off our cabinets with crown molding on top and install 3-tiered shelving on the outside of two cabinets we had Gary perform the work.  With Gary's help we picked out the stain, molding and wood for the the pieces we wanted and Gary did the rest.  He did the work onsite so the work went quickly.  After installing the crown molding he was not happy with the way the spliced sections fitted together, so he redid his work so it looked more natural.  His woodwork and attention to detail on molding and  end pieces was exceptional, staining and matching the golden oak finish closely.  I have used Gary on a couple of other honey-do projects around the house and will continue to use him for his exceptional attention to detail and cost.  I have referred him to both neighbors and friends and they have been pleased with his professionalism and cost.  On other comment, he will always return your call promptly and courteously.

Showed up every morning on time and was very respectful of our home. Kept us informed along the way. Finished the job when he said he would and it turned out better than I imagined. The price was very reasonable. I plan to have them come back to remodel my kitchen. I absolutely love their work and highly recommend this Company to everyone I know!!!

I had received a prior quote from another Angie's List provider for new quartz countertops, undermount sink, and cabinet modification that I considered excessive.  I went back to Angie's List and contacted Mr. Shumway.  He was able to find the same quartz for approx. $3,000 less and suggested I might be able to get granite at a lesser price.  Great suggestion.  I found the granite that is perfect for my kitchen.  In addition, he also gave me a quote for crown molding and installation of the tile backsplash.  Even with providing my own plumber I saved approx. $3,500 from the first quote while getting the additional crown molding and backsplash installation.  Mr Shumway is very professional and easy to work with.  With his scheduling my kitchen downtime was minimal.  He and his subs were prompt, did their work quickly and well, and cleaned up before they left.  I now have a kitchen I love.

ABryant Construction, Inc.
Bryant was hired to add a kitchenette in our basement. He painted, added crown molding, and hired out the cabinetry, tile and granite counter tops. We were very happy with all the work that was performed, so happy, in fact, that we asked Bryant to tear down our worn-down back patio deck and rebuild a nicer one. He was done in two days! Always on time, or earlier than scheduled. He is easy to get in touch with via text or phone calls. Professional, polite, doesn't smoke, no loud music, honest. Oh! I almost forgot. He just replaced our wood front door of 14 years. It was weathered beyond repair. Bryant found an almost identical door. He sanded, stained, and installed for so much cheaper than we could've done on our own.

ACAULFORD CONTRACTING & GLASS
We had a great experience with Caulford Contracting during a large job they did for us, and have since used them to do other work on our home. We have nothing but positive things to say about their work. They replaced 40+ windows in our house, and were very professional during the entire job. We feel the work was performed on time according to their estimate, and they even went above and beyond what was required in many cases. I had no idea how they were going to be able to replace our large, curved, bay window designed in the 40's, but they figured it out and did a magnificent job. We also had them remodel two rooms, a bedroom and a den, including electrical and finish work. Later, we had them install two pair of french doors. We felt they were honest with us in every regard, and hope to be able to hire them to do more in the future.

AProfessional Building Group
Both closets originally had low grade finish work and the layout did not maximize the use of space. I had seen another home David Schroder had done the finish work on (custom closets, custom stair railings, baseboards, crown molding, etc.) and was very impressed with the evident meticulousness. He also did incredible finish work for a home in the SLC parade of homes. It's so rare to find someone who does perfect work,  so we hired him to tear out the existing interior of our closets and rebuild them.  David not only advised us on the best use of space, but also made excellent recommendations for structure and materials that we hadn't thought of.  He also turned our once useless faux drawer fronts in our bathroom (under the sinks) into tilt out drawers adding even more storage space. He was very professional, respectful and clean. The job was finished quickly and to our exact specifications. There were no surprises and our expectations were exceeded by the quality of work. We now have high-end custom closets with ample storage space and have the peace of mind that we received the highest quality of work.

AHolladay Handyman
Everything Keith painted he carefully prepared in advance first. It looked fantastic! The basement bedroom had a terribly ugly ceiling. Large globs of old plaster dotted the entire surface. It would have taken a great deal of work to smooth out and was not worth the expense. Keith suggested adding a subtle texture--which corrected the issue in no time. In addition to the work which I hired him to do, Keith was willing to offer advice on the smaller tasks which I planned to do myself. His suggestions saved me many steps and helped me make the house look more attractive without additional expense.  Keith was surprisingly accurate at estimating how long each project would take to complete. There were a few times when I thought perhaps he could have completed a project faster--but then I would look at the finished work. Quality work takes time.  I plan to hire Keith again--this time to finish the repairs on my new home while I can still enjoy them.
