A Better Choice Painting
Recent Review: Painted exterior of house, scraped popcorn ceiling, removed wallpaper from 1 wall, textures and painted two |Bedrooms.  They were great the house looks brand new. Update 5/6/2014 Two weeks after the original job was complete we notified them that there was an issue with the exterior paint on the hose with the paint cracking. They said they would come do needed touch ups the week after Christmas 2014. We purchased the extra paint and waited... But they didn't come and didn't perform the warranty work. In April we ended up hiring another painter to repaint two of our exterior walls. When I contacted them to ask them to pay for a portion of the painter I had hired they did say they were still willing to come do the touch up, but it was too late we had already given them a A long time to perform and had lost confidence that they would really come do the work - and we had already hired another painter.

Munoz Handyman Service
Recent Review: He is a general all round handyman and is outstanding. We had an issue with the roof and we had water damage in the house. They had to replace a wall and redo everything on both sides. He brought in a sheet rock man to help. The room was 50 years old and they matched the texture where it needed to be matched. You couldn't get any better. I was very, very pleased. He put on security doors and put on a couple doors. Repainted some of the outside. He said he could have done the roof too, but I didn't know that at the time. He just does everything. His price is very fair. He looks at the job and gives you a bid. Four years ago I had him redo the living room. Crown mouldings and took down the popcorn ceiling. He always has people waiting for him because he is that good. If you can get him, hire him.

Mike's Handyman Service & Drywall Repair
Award 2018Super Service Award
Recent Review: In summary, Mike was skilled and efficient. First, his bid for the work came in substantially lower the the two other bids I obtained. Second, he has tremendous skill floating walls. It is NOT easy to create a level and smooth surface in an old house with plaster walls. Did I mention that this job was 600 sq ft of floating?:) It usally takes a lot of time, which is why the other bids came in so much higher. I also want to say that the other two companies I had bid the job recommended installing thin drywall board over the entirety of the room. This was not my preference as the ceiling was already low and I didn't want to lose any more space. Mike was able to float a very thin surface over the texture and rough patches to my exact preferences. Third, the grinding/smoothing the concrete was also a bear of a job, and Mike was willing and able. Finally, Mike was constantly offering me great advice to improve the overall finish of the room. He suggested base boards and crown molding around the windows, which I had originally not wanted as I wanted a more 'roughed in' look. He advice turned out to be great and I am very happy with the end result. He even threw in the cutting of the base boards/molding and painting of the room at no addtional cost. Overall, Mike seemed very invested in this project. That type of investment means Mike will go the extra mile to make your finshed results look great.

Recent Review: I recently decided to redecorate my upstairs loft space into a den with a combination of beadboard paneling and wallpaper on the walls, topped with crown molding. After scraping the popcorn ceiling off myself, I had wallpaper installed on the upper 54" of the walls. Among the several handymen I called for estimates for the beadboard and crown installation, Manuel was clearly the most responsive. He arrived at my house on time and gave me an estimate based on what I had in mind, but he also offered a key suggestion to improve the aethetics of my project that I hadn't considered. He noted that it might look better to sheathe with plywood/trim and paint the back of a large dark wooden beam adjacent to my den to match the ceiling and crown molding color. After the contract was signed, Manuel and his son arrived on time on the scheduled day to begin work. They first installed the beadboard paneling I had pre-painted and consulted me at various points for my preference on small stylistic details. The crown molding I had purchased at first seemed as though it would be problematic to install, but they found a solution. They had to come back another day to install the plywood sheathing. The sheathing, it turns out, had some minor defects, so Manuel returned it for new pieces. This is another example of attention to detail and quality control that Manuel exhibited, something I really appreciated. On that second day I added two additional tasks to the work to be done: skimming and smoothing out some rough spots on the ceiling I had scraped; and rewiring the ceiling junction to work on a dimmer switch and installing the fixture I had purchased. It took another half day of work to get everything completed, but now that I've finished up the painting, I couldn't be happier with the outcome. It was the positive profile of Manuel in the Angie's List Magazine earlier this year that prompted me to include him in getting estimates, and I'm glad I did. This was one of the best experiences I've had with Angie's List and I would highly recommend him to others.

CRick's Handyman Service
I have been working on my house for 12 years..I have done everything from electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and landscaping. But I hit the point where I cannot do anymore. So I decided to hire a do-all small project handyman. He spent more time telling me of his experience of 34 years building homes from scratch than listening to me and deciding on projects together. Who comes to a home when I told him I have lots of projects to do without a pad to take notes. I had to provide a pad of paper. By the 2nd to last day, he had not even started the main projects I wanted to do. He said he didn't paint from the beginning. It took 6 hours to install a ceiling fan, to provide more stability from the ceiling bracket that I installed. Spent 3 hours trying to change out an outlet in the kitchen...I told him to end it and move on and I was not paying for trial and error work. Installed baseboards with no regard that he knew I had people coming to remove popcorn ceilings and remud and paint all ceilings, and the carpet needed to be installed. So now I have to cut away all the older carpet and paint all the baseboards before the carpet is installed. It's a 1200 sq ft home. including all closets, etc. The first project started at the front door. I asked him to measure everything I needed to order 2 new glass doors...He said we would order the doors together. I never received those measurements. He was to install a window sill in the kitchen but gave me no visual of what he was going to do...He was just going to slap on a piece of oak wood, not routered not stained and no clear direction of what he wanted to do..So he avoided that project. I asked for a new door to the laundry room...He thought it was best to get a door with all the outer framing...that meant he was going to pull out the perfectly good door framing I already had...I believe this was just to extend the simple project to something much bigger and longer. So I did not have him install that door or attempt to add the window sill. The last repair was patching a couple of holes. Who works on drywall and puts nothing under it to catch all the stuff. I knew he had a painters canvass in his truck, but he never put anything on the floor of the wall he worked on...he then spent hours spraying texture without covering the floors or carpet. The final straw was when he said he would be back in the morning to knock it down, it was scraping to me. He did not show up in the morning when I knew my neighbor would be there. He showed up 2 minutes before I got home from work. My neighbor at this point was in my home watching him ..he knew I was so done with this handyman. So because I was distracted talking projects with my neighbor, I wasn't watching the handman as closely as I should have...He never covered anything in my house while knocking down this texture. My whole house, floors, furniture, all the contents of closets removed and in the middle of rooms, including my shoes and clothes and new TV and electronics, everything including my f ish tank are covered in a fine white powder....What a mess I have to clean up. He also mixed his wall mud on the porch and got it all over my landscaping, bricks, doors, floors, bath towel, carpet everywhere but never cleaned it up...He did rinse off the porch area but all it did was move to the other side of my pillar...It is everywhere. I also was not comfortable when one day his front zipper was not up and last but not least had to see his butt crack while I am facing the TV to the point I needed to leave my house. I lost a week of hiring a painter, carpet layer and electrician because he said he had all these contacts. He called them but they never got back to him. Then on the last day, he states that he would paint. So I lost another week of project time. I feel he chose to do projects that gave him more hourly time. I do not want him on my property ever again. He did great work but at a cost of labor intensive cleanup for me. Would you want him in a 2-million dollar home leaving the same mess? I think he cares only about the $$ because for 30 years of building, there was always someone else behind him to finish the house, carpet, paint, clean, etc. so he has no idea that he is leaving a big mess. I think he needs an education of what customer service is, not just do a good job on the project. UPDATE: To add to the scathing review I already presented, I wanted you to know what I remembered this man telling me in many of his comments to me. Because he had only 2 reviews, he contacted Angie's List , it seems a salesman for your company said if he paid $286, he would receive an ad in the October 2013 magazine....This is just a marketing gimmick to catch the eye of a prospective customer, as it caught my eye. This add gives the impression that this handyman is far above any other handyman in the area. I find this is false advertising because the one of the only 2 reviews is printed on page 9 of this magazine. If I had done my homework to read the reviews of only 2, I would never have chosen this person. Now I know why he has so many customers now that he has to book them 30 days in advance. He also told me that he was a and quot;5-Star Handymanand quot; . I think the Better Business Bureau should know that it only takes $$ to market anyone, not proving themselves to the Angie's List program and that this does not put Angie's list in a good light. The mess he left me is far more than I explained on the 1st review. Reviews are everything, but as I see it, as long as he continues to receive and quot;newand quot; customers, he will never have to worry about not having any previous customers. I have already spread the word to my co-workers who live in the same area, what a mess he left me.
