Recent Review: "Sony" is a true craftsman & professional. He tackled a "started project" for us and had great ideas about how to finish it. He has great attention to detail. He showed up everyday. He is quiet & works alone, though hired help when needed. He is very down to earth & collaborated with us to get best value. Wasn't afraid to tell us if an idea we had was "dollar foolish".

Recent Review: Rich and his company did a exceptional job from start to finish, he taped off entire area to insure no dust or debris found its way into my home during demo faze.  He kept me in the loop regarding any problems that arose electrical, plumbing. Rich and crew were very punctual and neat, they cleaned up after themselves everyday before leaving. Rich was very responsive to my concerns regarding time frame from start to finish, was there every day that he said he would be and gave me every bit of his attention when needed.  Installed new cabinets and counter tops as well as 2 kitchen windows and replaced trim where needed, would strongly recommend him to any new clients that may ask for a reliable contractor.

DWestport Handy Guy
Not good. Nice guy but kind of on his own island. Everyone's experience is different by mine was Jim was unreliable. Met on July 26, he told me to powerwash the shed and wait 3 weeks for him to start. I p-washed it a week later and told him he could book a date from there. It was a hot summer but he could have said "sorry I can't do it, or I don't have time." After about 10 weeks and repeated attempts to reach him, he came over on the Friday before Columbus Day. He worked a solid full day, then left with the shed doors off the structure. Said he'd be back Monday and was a no show. Called him and he told me "have commitments" I'll come Thurs. Thur was supposed to rain so I offered to have him get paid for the job to just come back and put the doors and trim on and I would paint it. He never replaced the trim over the door. So while I'm never trying to appear to be out of line - you be the judge. Again, nice guy but I wouldn't hire him again for the total lack of effort to even schedule the job he said he'd do. Paid 70% of the cost, and have to do the painting myself.

AHerb Travis Handyman Services
I called Herb on a Tuesday, he came around the next day to assess the work. The following day he returned with a list of the work to be done and a price. He started work the next Monday and completed most of it by Tuesday. We had to wait until the following week for the new shed doors to arrive. Herb returned on Wednesday and completed the job. Herb and his partner are very courteous and professional. They always call before they arrive to do any work. They clean up after themselves and take away unwanted debris. A very good experience all round. We had asked Herb to quote us on another project.

STEVE IS AWESOME!!!! He worked on our house for 5 full weeks. Before I continue, please know I was reluctant to give my praise of Steve because my wife and I want his work all to ourselves. That said, Steve, is honest, personable, professional, always on time, on budget and meticulous. His finish woodworking is amazing. I cannot say enough about his work and his person. He gets our highest recommendation.

BNeighborhood Renovations Inc
Overall, we were very satisfied with the work. It was up and down though. Steve was late for the estimate. He was leaving his house when he was supposed to be at ours. It seemed like he might have forgotten and was covering his tracks when we called wondering where he was. Once he arrived-it was Saturday, so we had no other plans-he was all apologies and attributed his lateness to having young children (which we also have). He was neatly dressed and other than being an hour late, he made a good first impression. We initially had him there for a simple replacement window job, but once he saw the condition of our windows he informed us we needed to have the opening re-framed (much more intensive work than we expected) due to some water damage. He also offered to do the finish work, the moldings and trim, since he would have to cut back some of the drywall we just installed. Surprisingly, his estimate was VERY reasonable-considering he was doing MORE work than the other two guys we had estimates from, his price wasn't much more. We decided to hire him. We arranged for a start date-he said he needed three full days at least-that appeared to give him plenty of time to finish by the date we wanted the work to be complete (it was our guest room and we expecting company) and considering we were due for some nasty weather. We arranged to have someone at the house to let the guys in since we work. Day one Steve and his crew were late. They "had to stop and pick up materials" which apparently took all morning. They did get a good amount of work done though. The next day the crew was on time (well-they got there before noon) but Steve was no where to be found. Eventually he must have come or they started without him, because most of the work was done. Every day I would inspect the work, and it was very well done, so these little scheduling glitches were tolerable. Then, the weather got in the way. He still had to finish the trim outside and in. Inside was no big deal, but the trim outside he was having trouble procuring. I told him not to worry about an exact match because I understood that it might be difficult to find 50's style ticky-tacky trim these days. I just wanted the work to be done. Our deadline was approaching. At this point Steve needed more money to pay for materials. He produced receipts, so I have no doubts it was legitimate, but I would have preferred these costs (which were also within his estimated budget) to be paid by him from our deposit money or from the final payment. I wasn't expecting to write three checks for this job. The job was on hold for a few days-days which the weather was fine-and I called to get him to nail down a completion date. I explained that I was going to be home for a few days in anticipation of our company arriving from out of town. That got him over here. He had started another job and was I guess intending on having his crew come by my house to finish some day when they couldn't work over there. I was unhappy with this. Steve was very apologetic and promptly got the work done. Well, his crew did, I should say. Once the boss left, they did everything I asked-some things that I asked Steve to ask them to do and he danced around the subject giving me the distinct impression he had no intention of doing them. Little things, like painting the newly installed exterior trim above the window since I had no ladder and couldn't reach it. I knew it wasn't in the estimate-I was responsible for painting-but I didn't feel as though I was being unreasonable. I had already painted 5/6 of the way up. But, I'm only 5'4" and I don't have a ladder so I handed the worker the brush. No problem he said and was very happy to do it. He then came inside and painted the tops of the trim there too (which I had asked Steve to do and he did a very shoddy job of) with out my having to ask! One of the brand new screens was jammed up and one guy spent an hour on it unjamming it and then checking to make sure it wouldn't happen again. The crew was hard working, honest, and polite. Once everything was done, we were extremely pleased with the results. The finish work-the moldings and the baseboards-and the new windows are outstanding. And the price was within budget. The scheduling/time management was not stellar, but it was worth the hassle for the quality and the price. We might be being a little harsh-my husband and I both hold punctuality very near and dear to our hearts-but we realize there are others out there like us who would probably like to know this little detail before they hire someone. Oh, one more thing-we did have to practically BEG for a written receipt. We needed it for our accountant and I had to ask Steve SEVERAL times. He basically sent me an email with a breakdown of the labor and materials. It was sufficient, but not ideal.
