TOTAL ENERGY CONCEPTS INC
Recent Review: Although their bid seemed high, our interest in high quality and the laudatory comments from past customers made them an obvious choice for us. We are not disappointed. The company consistently demonstrated a concern for quality in the installation process. They were also very accommodating to our concerns and preferences and willing to make modifications to meet these concerns. Their attention to detail at times went beyond our expectations. Our system is new, seems to meet our expectations, but its real test will be its efficiency and durability over the years. However, based on their record with previous geothermal heat system customers, we expect little trouble. They are very nice people to deal with. Geothermal heat systems are reputed to provide heat at one-fifth the cost of conventional electric heat systems. We are excited by the prospect.

Recent Review: We constructed a new home and wanted to install a geothermal system.  We have acreage and were placing the lines around the property rather than going down.  Wilfert Heating was recommended to us by our excavator.  We were pleased with their knowledge and expertice when discussing the system.  Their price was fair and reasonable.  They performed all tasks punctually and as contracted.  We highly recommend them and would definitely use them for futurer heating needs.

Oregon Geothermal
Recent Review: I spoke with a number of companies about installing a geothermal heat pump and by far, Ed Olin and Rick Sticka of Oregon Geothermal were the most technically adept. They had excellent references and even gave us a tour of several projects in-progress while we were trying to decide on how to proceed. Once we decided to go with them, the scheduling was a bit tricky with lots of working happening on weekends. In once instance, they were using a drilling machine on a Sunday and my neighbors threatened to report us for violating a noise ordinance (it isn't clear whether that was true or not). Overall, the work was done in a high quality manner and much attention was paid to getting the details right. However, it was clear a number of times that Rick and Ed had over-committed their time. They were not returning phone calls or emails for several days and would have to reschedule work from one week to the next. From the date we signed the contract, it was four months until completion.

TEMP-A-CURE INC
Recent Review: We used Temp-A-Cure because of our home maintenance insurance contract. We had an inoperable geothermal unit. Temp-A-Cure eventually fixed it but it took a period of six months. Three years later (2014) we contacted them for routine service check. My wife stayed home to wait for them. They did not show up or call. When she called them, they explained that clients with inoperable furnaces get first priority and because we were ok , we were not prioritized. We rescheduled the visit the second time; again they did not show up or call. My wife called them and explained her frustration of waiting all day for a company that doesn't come. Again the story about non functioning furnaces taking priority. We scheduled a third time (today December 19). I stayed home and waited for the arrival time between 12 and 2 pm. At 3 PM, no call and No tempaCure. I called their office number and got an answering service that said office is closed but she did not know if they had service agents out. I waited until 4 pm and then called Fire and Ice Heating to schedule a visit. In contrast, the person at Fire and Ice (George) asked me if I wanted him to come out today. fyi, Fire and Ice requires you to go through a group called Home Advisor in Golden Colorado which attempts to line the caller up with other contractors they might need.  I cannot find a single positive review for temp-a-cure on Yelp or Angie's list, what is the purpose of these postings? FYI....I missed the opportunity to accompany my family and grandchildren to the airport to see them off for their holiday trip just waiting for these rude, unprofessional people to show up. Where is Kramer with his cable man vendetta when I need him?

Green Hammer
Recent Review: Green Hammer took what is normally a very complicated and stressful process and made it easy and fun. We loved the individuals we worked with who were pleasant, punctual and cleaned up after themselves. They recycled most all of the construction debris and were mindful of existing vegetation. They did a lot of research on how to construct our home which is made out of unusual materials with a geothermal heat pump and radiant heating system and kept us informed of the options and associated costs. The quality of the construction is excellent. They have returned to do small projects since the initial construction of our home with the same great results.  I wish we had the money to build another house because working with them was a rewarding experiance.

Recent Review: This company is excellent. We've owned our home for 5 years. It has two central air conditioning units - one for most of the house and a smaller system for a finished attic and one other room. The larger system has never worked all that well, and, as we suspected, it was nearly out of coolant. Since it was an old system, it used freon, which is now very expensive as well as bad for the environment. So we decided to replace it. The cost of the initial service call to evaluate the system was credited against the replacement cost - nice. And the bid by Pedro was very fair, considering that the installation took an entire day and also involved the brief services of an electrician since the location of the power box needed to be moved to meet code. But what was really amazing is that we asked Paul to return to see if he could fix our smaller A/C system which suddenly quit. It's a very strange geothermal combo A/C furnace unit and he spent 2 hours trying to fix it. When he wasn't successful he didn't charge us anything for that visit - saying he spent all that time because he wanted to give it his best shot. All in all, the best HVAC company I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with and they will be our go-to company for service from now on.

I found Jack's attitude very off-putting and he was quite condescending. Either b/c my home is not a mansion on 5+ acres on Bull Mtn or Cooper Mtn, or b/c I'm a woman, but he REALLY didn't want to be bothered. I know GT costs more, but I'm still very interested, have done a ton of research, and am willing to pay a premium to reduce energy consumption. I'd love to get off the grid someday. Jack wasn't interested in finding out any details. He was telling me it was a bad idea before even asking me how big my house was or what my needs were, what my priorities are or budget. And the numbers he was throwing around were greatly out of sync with everything else I've read; on the order of $40,000 - $50,000.

Came out to see the property, took a bunch of our time because he talked his head off. Weeks rolled by and NO estimate, in spite of a couple messages left for him!! Ridiculous. Nothing ever came. We later found him through another avenue and didn't realize it was the same company, so we requested an appointment. They DID take the time to let the service company know that we had already booked! If they would only follow through on estimating!!

From the very start John presented as a very knowledgeable, friendly, and experienced HVAC technician. They sold me on the "Ferrari of heating and cooling". The price they quoted was higher than the other quotes that we received, but not excessively. We chose them because of their experience and longevity in the field. As we started excavating our house, we tried coordinating our efforts with TEC to try and save on our overall excavating bill. They told us that they normally do their own excavating but we could do our own if we chose to. My contractor had never done a geothermal system before and was relying on their instructions(poor communication). Long story short, we ended up with a 5 foot deep 80'x50' pit instead of a trenched line to lay the loops. Functional it works just the same, but fiscally it was an extra $2500. Good bye savings. We chalked it up to custom building pains. That was the first of many communication issues. Over the course of installation, I had to referee several disagreements between my contractor and TEC. At that time I was critical of my contractor, as it was his responsibility to manage the subs and work out the problems. It got to the point where I just put myself in the middle for the remainder of the project. At this point, I found them argumentative but fairly timely in their work (that has not been the case long term). Given my inexperience with geothermal, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. After completion and living in the house we ran into a few problems with the system. One was a defective board that was warrantied by ClimateMaster. The others were installation and calibration errors that needed to be corrected. I wasn't thrilled with the problems as they always seemed to manifest themselves when we needed the system the most. At one point we had to use our wood stove for heat for about a week. Each time we called for service, we could never get in contact with TEC. I had three phone numbers for TEC and would call each and get no response. I would leave messages that were never returned. Emails would go unanswered. They would text me, and then never respond to my returned texts. It was almost as if they were willfully ignoring my attempts to contact them. In the cases they did respond it was usually argumentative and as if I were a general pain in their a**. They had their money and we were a nuisance. I expressed my displeasure with them thinking it might generate some increase in their responsiveness, but that did not happen. I have never dealt with a more unresponsive and argumentative service provider. The last example of how poor this company is to work with has been a 8 month saga that would seem to be simple to resolve. In the spring of this year (2016) I noticed that we had water leaking in our crawl space. I found that it was a small leak coming from a brass ball valve that is plumbed off our geo-heat pump. I put a bucket under the leak and spent weeks trying to contact TEC to get this addressed. Over the course of several months I was continuously strung along. They told me several times that someone would be out to get it fixed. If I ever received reasons for why they didn't show up, it was crap excuses. Most of the time they wouldn't even respond. So frustrating. I persisted trying to get them to service their installed system because this was their work they needed to stand behind. This was the "Ferrari" system they sold me on. It certainly hasn't been "Ferrari" service. Far from it. It is December and I still have a small leak. We love the geothermal heat pump. It is ultra efficient, ultra comfortable and makes the biggest difference when conditions are at their worst. We had some system shake down issues that, with most service providers would have been an annoyance at best. With TEC it has become much more than that. I have wasted enormous amounts of time dealing with this terrible service provider. Especially when I consider the premium nature of the product and the amount of money it cost, it mystifies me how they can be so bad at communication and service. I would never recommend this company to anyone in the future.

I paid $170 for a report which they indicated that my damper motors on my system had worn out - great. When I asked them to repair, they told me that someone would reach out to me to schedule a time to repair the system. No one called me. I called and left messages for their geothermal manager a number of times, but she has yet to call me back. They are completely disorganized and unprofessional. I get a sense they only want easy jobs and do not want to do anything too labor-intensive. I would not recommend them.

They were upbeat and professional, in not so nice conditions. The respect they showed my property was very much appreciated. Every question was answered. They where there when they said they would be, and always did an excellent job of cleaning up. I have confidence and respect for this company, and will continue to refer them to others.
