Reviews in Pittsburgh for Window Insulation
Mr. Cratsa and his crew were a pleasure to work with. He was on-time for all appointments that he set. His estimate was quickly returned and he explained all questions that we had, and even gave us advice on small projects that we were working on ourselves. He began the work a day before they were scheduled to arrive (and called ahead of time to let us know they would be starting early). The crew was polite, professional, and paid close attention to detail. We could not have been happier with our experience with Mr. Cratsa, and will definitely hire him again.

His Angie's List page offered a discount on the work at the time I made my choice of which contractor to use for window replacement and insulation. My home no longer has that chill thanks to the great insulation provided. The sliders installed (Vinylmax company) are wonderful, energy efficient, and really add beauty to my home. There was a slight difference of the tan color between the trim/caulking and the windows, but Jim Gales promptly corrected it. The trim, caulking, and windows all now flows together in one color. I highly recommend JD Gales!

Window installation went very well. I had requested they fix the crumbling and rotting under bay and was told it could be done for $80, which I agreed to. I wanted him to tear the old covering out, insulate up inside the bay, and then recover and seal. All he did was cover up the existing with insulation and cover and seal. Probably more of a miscommunication that anything else.

ADan's Handyman Svcs
I'm a repeat customer. My expectations of Dan are high - and once again he met them. He understood what was required, made sensible suggestions, and came up with good choices. The inevitable surprises when dealing with an old house were dealt with fairly and expeditiously. Dan was also very accommodating of scheduling quirks and shifting priorities. The work was performed meticulously. Highly recommended.

They did a very thorough job, I had the new windows for a year and a half already and they are still working great. It was a well done job. The workers were very good, easy to work with and does a very thorough job. I did get a lot of pricing but for the quality that you get is really worth it.

After American Insulation failed to do even half the job I had hired them for, I called JD Gales (which American had snidely commented was "twice as expensive"). John Gales came for the estimate, was punctual, professional, and sympathetic. He gave an estimate and followed up with a relatively detailed mailing (which I lost, and he replaced). His workers arrived in good time despite a storm that morning, and went right to work. They explained what they would do, and answered all my questions. They cut into the plaster walls of the finished attic, and also cut a hole in the ceiling. They went inside the ceiling to blow in cellulose insulation, and inside the walls to put fiberglass and to blow cellulose into the floor so that I could close off the attic from the rest of the house, and not have to heat it when I wasn't using it. They didn't complain when I followed them around, took pictures, and checked everything they did (after my bad experience with American). They made a big mess but cleaned everything quite well, even though the job lasted well into the evening and there is no working light in the attic (they used a worklight). They put drywall over the holes in the plaster, and it looked great. John Gales came and checked on the job, and while he was there I asked him for an estimate on new attic windows. He did the estimate and also checked out a broken clip on one of my bedroom windows, and was patient and helpful.

The workman were polite and careful in their work. They answered my questions and kept me informed as to what they were doing and how it was going. The job took 2 days to complete and at the end of the second day they used a shop vac to clean up all of the debris and insulation they could find.

AW M Prescott Roofing & Remodeling
I used Prescott last year for some roof work and was satisfied with them, so I decided to use them again for a small remodeling project. The quote, contract, and scheduling process was straightforward. I was on a tight schedule with a rigid time frame and Prescott started their part of the project as promised and scheduled. All the workers were courteous and respectful of my property. They did a great job and I am very pleased with the outcome.

The owners from Nest Expressions came out exactly on schedule to give us options for the curtain material and hardware. They couldn't have been nicer or more professional. The work was done on the time line they gave us and the installation went smoothly. We are very pleased with the result. The consistently high scores they get on Angie's list are earned.

BMINCIN INSULATION SERVICE INC
The work was done quickly. Mincin Insulation observed that the only problem with the existing insulation (all brand new in 2005) was not nearly enough. And on top of that the insufficient insulation material from 2005 was not even evenly distributed, and at least one corner of the attic had almost none of it. So Mincin Insulation added enough cellulose to give us a minimum of 49 R value all around. They took before/after photos for us, since we do not have direct access tot he attic from inside the house. In this hot 2010 summer, the floor below the attic feels better, although it is also probably due to the fact that we had new windows put in last fall.
Recent Review: Responded quickly to our initial contact for a quote. Ty came to the house within days and spent time answering all our questions and making suggestions of what might work for us. He was very nice and knowledgeable. He suggested a larger gutter over our back door area and we rerouted the downspout to the back of our house. Had samples with him to show us the siding choices and shingles and suggested ones he thought would look best. We received his quote the next day. He also followed up with a phone call to make sure we had received his quote. Of the 4 companies we call, Meredith was 1 of the 2 that responded, they had the best price and responded the quickest. The other company took a week to get the quote to us after telling us a day. We had work done with Meredith before and were satisfied. The day the materials were delivered we had a problem with the delivery truck getting up our driveway. Ty came immediately helped move the materials into his pickup truck and drove them up the driveway and unloaded them. Dumpster was delivered and work started a day or two after. They gave us a day notice of the work starting. The roofing crew was very good. Arrived at 7 am worked till about 4, it took 2 days to complete the roof. First day they replaced the back part of the roof and installed the solar roof fan. They are not licensed electricians, so let us know upfront they could not wire the fan if we wanted that option. Second day completed the front of the roof, along with the porch. They found rotted wood on our porch roof, but got approval for the additional cost before purchasing the wood. Flashed the chimneys but let us know they need repaired and repointed so as not to have continuing water problems. (They don't do brick repair work.) Cleanup was good, found only a couple nails. Very efficient team. And as a added bonus, the father of the roofer gave me some plants from his garden, hosta and sedum! There was about a week in between the roof job and the siding & gutters. Mainly due to weather, but Ty kept us posted on the schedule. He always responded quickly to any phone calls or emails. The crew doing the siding and insulation arrived around 9, worked until 3 and it took two days. Did a great job on the siding and gutters. Covered the back dormer completely, the sides of the front dormer and the back exterior wall. Placed a wood grid on the back exterior wall with contact cement and anchors, insulation then the siding. Gutters were them put on, made on site. The whole job looks great. Finished very nice; corners, edges, etc. Cleanup was good. Talked to us before they left to let us know how they did the job and answered any of our questions.
Recent Review: Excellent from start to finish. No fancy sales pitch, no b.s. They quoted the lowest price out of 3 contractors. The install was great. Windows were fit within a quarter of an inch. They fit thick insulation around the entire window, didn't use the useless paper thin foam window world and other large companies use. Casement was fit neat and tight, no 45 cuts. Caulking was neat. They cleaned up after installation. Took over 3 hours for the two guys to complete the job. I appreciated that the took their time to do it right. We had Polaris windows installed which are so much nicer than what window world put in our house previously. Could not be more satisfied.
Recent Review: After signing the contract and making the initial payment, the project started slightly behind schedule. However, during this period we stayed in constant contact with our salesman discussing and finalizing product and other fine details of the project. A project foreman was assigned who did measurements, delivered materials, and scheduled work crews for the various phases of the project. He was knowledgeable and did a good job of communicating with us throughout the entire project. During the demolition phase of the project an unforeseen problem was encountered with an existing support beam. There was a known leak in our roof that was to be fixed as part of the project. However, the extensive damage to the existing beam was not expected and needed replaced adding additional cost and time to the project. We felt that the additional cost was fair and that the replacement beam was installed properly. The existing leak in the roof was fixed. However, some of the existing plywood (under the roofing tiles) and fascia showing signs of dampness and deterioration was left in place. We later agreed that the work to make these repairs would be completed in the spring. Another problem was encountered when the township inspector required additional support for the roof due to the cathedral ceiling. A ridge bean had to be installed which was not in the original plans adding more time to the project. The project foreman did a good job of working with us and the inspector to satisfy both parties. The finished ceiling with the ridge beam and ceiling fan look great. We love the wall system with all the glass. And, we are glad we added the electric radiant heat in the floor under the ceramic tile although this took longer than expected to install and added time to the project. The finished room is the perfect upgrade that we can use year round. The Betterliving crew was professional, punctual, and did quality work. They arrived on the job site when they said they would. This was important to us since we were coordinating our work schedules. We would use Betterliving again and recommend them to anyone for their sunroom project.
Recent Review: A great family-owned small business. The entire job took 4 days. I was especially impressed with how clean they kept my yard. They picked up all the debris every night. Excellent quality of work. I cannot find a single thing wrong with what they did. I could tell Brad really cares about doing the job right. My neighbor watched them work on my house every day and was so impressed, she hired them to do her siding next year.
Recent Review: WISP delivered as promised. They arrived on April 9, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. and removed and installed all but two of the windows on the first day. The workmen were very neat and cleaned everything as they moved from window to window. The second day included completeting the last two windows and installing new shutters on the six front windows. The owners had promised that if we purchased the shutters, they would remove the old and replace with the new. We did that by purchasing all of the shutters from Home Depot for $345 and had them delivered to our home. WISP removed the old shutters and expertly installed the new ones. Overall, the windows and trim were installed perfectly. The workers, and Bill Kish, an owner, worked thoughout each day without breaking in their work routine. One set of workers removed while another set installed while their finish carpenter completed the interior trim and casings. My wife and I marveled at the efficiency with which they moved and cleaned. They completed the job and left our house spotless on the second day at about Noon. Overall, it took a day and a half to install the windows and trim as promised, and we could not have been more pleased. This is an exceptional company, and the owners, Melissa and Bill Kish are to be commended for the way in which they present and sell the product and install to the satisfaction of the customer. In all of the home repairs and installations we have had over many years, we have never been more pleased with a product and its installations. Well done WISP, and thank you Melissa and Bill.

Recent Review: Went very good. He cleaned up so that there was little evidence outside the attic that he had even been there. I have noticed that the A/C did not kick on nearly as much afterwards. He came back another time at no charge and replaced a cord on our dryer.
