Reviews in Pittsburgh for Pool Installation

FPOOL NATION
This place now goes by "Swimming Pool Discounters" (3 locations). I purchased an above ground pool here from Dale Kleiner the owner. The pool was purchased because Dale "guaranteed" me he could have it installed by the following week. When the day came, no installer, no phone call. I reached out to Dale a total of 4 or 5 times, even speaking to his daughter once and explaining I needed to schedule time off work etc. Dale not only refused to return my phone call but never even bothered scheduling my pool installation. His employee ws told to give me the name of a 3rd party installer and to schedule it myself. I eventually got my pool put in much later and had to make all the arrangements myself. Dale was great at the time of the sale, but once he had my money he could care less. If you do some research online or ask around, apparently this is how he does business. I wouls spend a little extra money and go to a relaible pool dealer with some level of professionalism.

I needed a new pool liner installed. They showed up to take measurements and give me an estimate. Within two weeks the liner was installed and the job finished. There was one small problem with the liner coming loose at an edge when water was being pumped in. I called immediately and they were out promptly the very next work day to fix the problem. They were very professional and handled everything to my satisfaction.

I CAN'T TELL YOU ENOUGH WHAT A PLEASURABLE EXPERIENCE THIS HAS BEEN. ART, THE OWNER IS WONDERFUL. THEY HAD THE POOL 90% COMPLETE IN THREE DAYS. THEY BUILD ONE POOL AT A TIME, SO YOU ARE THEIR SOLE CONCERN. IF YOU DON'T GO WITH THEM FOR YOUR POOL YOUR A FOOL.

The project was a disaster. I relied on the expertise of a so called professional to design the pool. The lights were placed in a poor location along with the returns. These are errors that can never be changed. Water keeps collecting behind my liner. I was told to massage it out, this is "normal." The french drains were installed improperly and I'm now spending a lot of money to get this fixed.

Left three messages for this company to request information and rates on pool opening and closing. They never returned my phone calls. I find this very unprofessional, therefore I would not recommend them.

Ken and his band of merry men were excellent to work with. They are all very pleasant, worked extremely hard, had all work done and cleaned up in the time frame stated. We love our pool and hope to enjoy it for many years to come. I would HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

We couldn't be happier with our in-ground pool by Paradise Pools.  There were issues the first day with the pool dig, but Randy came out himself and found a good option for the pool location.  All of his references for sub-contractors were excellent (although we have yet to complete the fencing).  It was such a big job with many glitches, but all of the workers explained our options and delivered good results.

I hired Paradise because we were on a tight schedule and the only other provider who said he could meet our schedule was slow to respond and vague about pricing/process.  Our schedule was tight because the house was new construction, and several things needed to be done post-pool installation to get a final occupancy permit.  Our job was quickly complicated by the fact that our pool had to be chipped out of the stone that was just a foot or so under the dirt in our yard.  So Randy's excavators (Coll-Kev) had to bring in a hoe-ram to dig the hole, causing a delay of about 1.5 weeks.  Once this was done, we thought that we'd be back on our 10 day schedule that Randy promised, but no such luck.  Some of the problems were certainly beyond the company's control (the pool manfuacturer needed to send replacement parts); however, because the crew just didn't show up most days, it took too long to identify the problem.  Once that was fixed, they didn't show up to complete the installation.  After a few weeks of this, I started calling Randy daily to yell at him and finally started to make some progress.  In all, it took a little over six weeks to do what was described as a 10 day process.  I can excuse a couple of those weeks due to the rock in our yard and the manufacturing mishap, but even with that, they were weeks behind schedule.  The good news is that the pool looks great and we are happy with the end result even if the process was awful.  As it was finished in the cold (fall 2014) the liner still needs to be adjusted and the heater, filter...etc. hooked up, so we'll see how it goes in the spring, but it sure looks good.  At some point, someone suggested to me that the fall is the worst time to install a pool, because the workers have been working so hard all summer and are tired and looking forward to the winter.  This seems reasonable, so if you're installing in the fall, I'd stay on top of the crew from day one.  One other caution with Randy as opposed to some other pool companies, I felt like I was the general contractor, not a position I'm used to being in.  Had to deal separately with plumber, electrician, excavators..etc and pay them separately.  Randy was upfront about this, but in the end, it was more work than I wanted.  If it wasn't for Kevin at Coll-Kev excavating, I don't think this would be done.  He helped me a lot, and I even hired him to do some extra work for us that we might not have been able to do if the installation had been on time.

Recent Review: We recently purchased an in-ground pool from this company and have spent roughly $36,000 on it. They came and opened my pool within the week of calling. The service was prompt, but not professional. Technicians are young and seem somewhat careless. The owner of the company is the selling point.

Recent Review: I have used this service for the past two years. They installed our above ground swimming pool two summers ago (the only company we found that would install a used swimming pool). We have continued to use their expertise for water testing service, chemical adjustments and supplies. They tend to be a little expensive, but their advice is well worth it. They test water for free and make recommendations for what chemicals are needed. The staff are terrific! They are friendly and professional. As a first time pool owner, they provided a 45 minute one on one training about the chemicals as well as a free DVD to help with the task associated with pool maintenance. The staff answer questions on the phone all the time and always have good tips and ideas for problems associated with the pool/water. I prefer this location over other stores, but it is not convenient to my house. I often make a special trip to open and close the pool because I trust their consultations and advice.
