Recent Review: Spectacular job from beginning to end. Let me start by saying I was approached by a very nice young lady who knocked on my door named Diana. I NEVER entertain door knockers but this young lady was very friendly and professional so I allowed her in. She set me up with an appointment to have an estimate. The salesperson Mr. ****** showed up and was knowledgeable and seemed to be interested in helping me with what I could afford to do instead of pushing me into work that I could not afford. The gentleman that did the work was efficient and very good at what he does although his name escapes me. Mr. ****** kept me informed of the schedule changes due to materials being ordered and coming in at different times. If you want a professional company at a fair price and excellent customer service call the folks at Quality Built Exteriors.

Recent Review: THI was very professional and a pleasure to work with. The Project Manager was always available when needed, very responsive, and personally ensured the quality of all work performed. I did have a slight issue with the initial installation of the new porch railings (THI subcontracted Atlantic Railing for this work). However, THI was very sensitive to my concerns and quickly resolved the issue with Atlantic Railing. The railings were taken down and new railings were fabricated/ installed. Very satisfied. (I attached before and after photos to this review.)

Recent Review: Jerry came out and met with me, and he took measurments for the fabrication. He had several suggestions as to how to match the handrails with the house, where to place the handrails, and a color. He drew a small picture of how the handrails would look, and he later called me to let me know that one part could not be matched to his specifications. Since he was designing the handrails from stratch, I pretty much left the artistry of the job up to him and his design team. When my slot finally opened up in the schedule, the work proceeded smartly. The two man crew used a special drill to remove four small cylindes of brick and mortar from my steps at the exact locations where the handrail was to be placed. Once the holes were preppped and the mortar mixed, the handrails were placed and checked for level. The mortar sets quickly, and the cure is full in one day.

Recent Review: Called the first week of November to request estimate. Estimate was in hand by November 10th. I went to the office on November 12th to sign the contract and make initial payment. Once there I saw a huge whiteboard with all the jobs ahead of me. Sandy advised me that it most likely would be December before they would be able to get to my job. Actually seeing all the jobs ahead of me provided two things: (1) it reinforced the rating I saw on Angie's list because surely they would not be busy if their work and reputation was lousy, and (2) allowed me to be more patient in waiting for my job to commence. The repairman, Warren, called on December 9th to set up an appointment the next day to come out to see what supplies he would actually need to purchase prior to starting the work. He stated his job was to make sure I was happy with his work during the entire process. During the job, he would constantly seek feedback as to how I thought it was looking and if I was "happy". I liked that Warren made use of as much of my good railing that he could possibly use. Many other contractors would have simply purchased new wood which may have run the price of the project higher. He always explained what he was doing and why he was doing it. He also made some suggestions to increased the odds that the railing and posts would last another 30 years. The next day the painter arrived to seal and paint all the front porch railing and posts. He also did an excellent job and sought feedback to ensure I was satisfied with his work. Warren came back the next day to take care of some finishing work and to re-install the gutter downspout. Bottom line: I was extremely pleased with the work and more importantly the cost. It had taken me several months to fine someone willing to do the work at a price that was acceptable to me. I would definitely call on them again and recommend them as well.

FAce Home Improvements
We needed our porch rails, columns, and handrails replaced due to age and rotting. I searched on Angie’s list and found Ace Home Improvement. After reading the reviews the majority of them were positive. So, we chose them. I called and they returned the call promptly. A guy came to the house, looked everything over, and gave his price for the repairs. We agreed on the price and signed their contract. We had to pay them half advance. ( $2000). At the time the guy said he would start on Monday and have it finished by Tuesday evening . ( He said this on a Friday night). What should have been a two day job turned into a week and a half calamity. They never showed on Monday or Tuesday until the afternoon because I called to find out what the holdup was. Excuses, excuses. I asked if no one was coming next time, please call and let me know. I had taken time off from work to be there. Well, it happened again and no one called.( I had taken another day off). More excuses. They showed up the next day and got down to business. The following day was just a finish-up day. When they were”finished”, they came looking for the check for the balance of payment. My wife asked why the columns weren’t done and they told her they were told to only do hand rails and porch rails!! What?? My wife showed them the contract which clearly stated handrails. porch rails, and 8 columns. The guy got the owner on the phone where the owner told my wife that was not what we agreed on and he would never have agreed to that because he would have to take a loss, etc. He went round and round with her and made no sense. The bottom line was it was clearly stated in the contract and that he should be shouting at this employee -not my wife. I have never heard of any reputable business owner arguing against what was so blatantly wrong on his end and so ridiculously obvious. He just didn’t want to honor the contract. He wanted my wife to feel sorry for him. He also told her he tried to call me and left a message but he never did!!! I tried calling him and left a message. My wife withheld the check for the balance and told the worker that she would be speaking to a lawyer if things were not handled properly. The owner finally called me way later and said he would honor the contract. I found out later that the worker confided in my wife and told her that the owner had called him and asked him “what should I do”? Really?? How about doing the right thing ?!!! By then I had looked at the work that was done and found the slats in the handrails were at a hideous angle-completely incorrect!!!! Also one of the handrails was loose and wiggling quite a bit!! The guy had broken the brick it was attached to and left it like that!!!!!! Really????? Where is the pride in workmanship??? So the owner was called again and after more excuses, calls, etc., they finally came out and finished the columns and fixed handrails. Unbelievable.!!!!! Also I saw on my security camera that one of the workers had been bringing his dog with him and letting him relieve himself in our yard!! Who brings a dog on the job without at least asking? He had also been walking through our flower bed-using it as a shortcut!!! My wife was not happy. There are foot prints imbedded in the flower bed too because the soil was soft after raining!! >:( I hired this company because I really didn’t have the time to do the work myself and wanted to spare myself the stress involved considering I full time. Let me tell you, this whole incident was so stressful for my wife and myself!!! I will never, ever, hire this company again! Please heed my words! I’m not one who comments on sites, but this was reason enough to let others know

I was scheduled a week from when I contacted them for just an estimate. I waited the week and the representative shows. He takes measurements and says he will get me a quote by the end of the week. Well it's nearing a month later and I haven't received a quote, phone call, email, NOTHING! I guess if the job isn't for $$$$$ on their end they aren't interested. If that's the case tell me upfront and not string along someone for this mythical quote you're gonna send.

I bought the $1,499 for a General Contractor for a Week (40 hours) for repairing outside trim work, rebuilt the front porch railing and trim painting.   They accomplished the work, but I spent too much of my time keeping track of their hours and their workers.

AD L HARTMANN INC
Excellent.  Used highest quality vinyl handrails to replace old deteriorated wooden ones.  Anchored them solidly in the brick porch.  Significantly improved the appearance of the front of the house and provided super stability in the solid handrails that support users extremely well.  Could not have done a better job.

AASAP CONSTRUCTION LLC
My experiences with ASAP have been excellent. They respond promptly and are extremely punctual when performing work. I used them on two separate occasions and the work was outstanding. Jack realigned three doors at my home which immediately reduced the amount of air coming into our home, it was extremely noticeable this winter as we no longer felt cold air blowing in around the doors. ASAP also built me a handrail for a rental home giving us additional safety and peace of mind to our tenants. I highly recommend ASAP Construction and will DEFINITELY use them in the future.
