SERVPRO of Cottage Grove/Woodbury
Recent Review: Servpro was great. The water damage occurred over the weekend and we called Servpro on Monday. They were there later in the week to remove all of the water damaged materials and to set up the equipment to dry out the kitchen. All of the staff were professional and worked well with our insurance (State Farm). They were late for the appointment on the final day due to an emergency at another location but we were able to reschedule to later that day. There were a few charges on the final invoice for projected work that they didn't end up doing. When I called the office manager she was very polite, apologetic, and worked with me and the technician who did the work to get the story and invoice straight. Hopefully, I never have water damage again, but if I do I will definitely be calling Servpro for the cleanup.

Recent Review: These guys helped me by removing the damaged parts of the basement room that had water leakage and drying it out.  They were very professional on the phone and projected an air of confidence that they know what they are doing.   I point that out because I was contacting them during May/June 2014 when storms had deluged the Twin Cities with rain and basement flooding was a plague that spread all across the metro area.  I must have called 10 or more companies for help and I'll be blunt, the first contact at many of those companies left me wondering if they were competent as a company.  Anyway... They made two visits to my house, the first guy that came identified the stuff that was damaged and gave me a quote for removal and drying the area out.  I thought it was fair and pulled the trigger.   The guy was patient with me, a noob homeowner, and answered all my questions and I'm pretty sure a few were stupid because I sure felt dumb asking them. Very professional conduct and I appreciated it. The second guy that came out was really nice and after packing up his gear he answered my questions also and took a look at the house on the outside and helped identify what he thought might be causing the leak.  I never would have seen it on my own.  I ran right over to home depot and patched up the area in question and its rained a few times since and we've had no problems so hopefully it solved the issue.  These guys did a great job and were very kind and professional in the process.  I would absolutely hire them again.

Recent Review: After spring thaw, we ended up with water in the basement. Unfortunately didn't notice the water in the finished part of basement until carpet and carpet pad started to smell like mildew/mold. Loyear squeezed us in for a quick service call. A crew came all the way down from Duluth to assist. Was smaller job than they were used to ... no fire damage or mold taking over every wall. They removed wet carpet pad, got fans under the rolled up carpet and put down mold inhibitor in multiple spots. Took a team of 3 about an hour. I used my own fans to save money and avoid a return visit. They weren't able to give me a solid estimate or pricing up front. Sounds like most of their work is insurance claims. But I was pleasantly surprised to come out with a bill under $500. Would recommend.

Talked to Joe (could be wrong on the name), he was quick to respond and professional during the call. However, because this was an insurance claim he refused to come out and give a quote or even learn anything about what needed to be done unless I told the insurance company I selected him to do the work. He tried to explain the reason for this, but he didn't succeed. I suspect he may be frequently asked to give bids on insurance and then is not awarded the work for some reason. Given this was my first (and last) contact with him regarding I certainly didn't feel comfortable working with him. I don't recommend contacting him for insurance work unless you have worked with him in the past and know in advance you want him to do the work.

Talked to Mike today and he was quick to respond and professional during the call. I explained that this was an insurance claim and that I would like a quote for the repairs. He told me he required $1000 down payment and then he would come out and give me a quote. He asked me to pay $1000 and commit to a completely unknown amount of work within the first 3 minutes of starting our first conversation. No attempt to build a relationship or establish trust. He said the reason for this is because he might spend time negotiating with the insurance company to cover all repairs and then I might run off with the money. This is the second time that I have encountered this practice, so maybe this is just the way some companies operate. I find the practice disturbing and unprofessional so I won't work with companies that operate this way. I don't recommend contacting this company for insurance work unless you have worked with him in the past and know in advance you want him to do the work.

Total ripoff. No expertise. Company was hired in my absence by a caretaker who caused a basement flood, ruining thousands of books. Would have been better off leaving the whole thing alone and letting it dry by itself than hiring this ripoff artist.
