Ty Anderson is a good salesperson, seems personable and sincere. Despite a somewhat higher quote than other vendors we had considered, he "sold" us on his bid and his ability to provide the exact luxury vinyl plank product we wanted and once that was installed, the carpet we thought we wanted on our 4 sets of stairs. He promised to be personally involved in overseeing our flooring project, on being able to accommodate our time frame, and on communicating regularly throughout the project. Things started out fairly well. However, unlike his promise of providing experienced and highly competent flooring installers, the flooring crew consisted of 1 very experienced and competent installer, 1 man that had worked for the crew for 7 months and was also good, but slower, 1 man who was being trained and had worked on the crew for 7 weeks (he made a number of mistakes requiring removing and redoing planks) and 1 man who spoke no English and had been there 1 month (he basically did some simple tasks as directed). It became evident that the plan for transitions from plank flooring to carpeting at the stairs was not going to work well, was unusual and would create trip hazards. Then we waited for the carpeting to be installed (originally promised to be done as soon as the plank flooring was completed). We heard from Ty Anderson that he was unable to locate the carpeting and that it "might have been thrown out." We were then left in limbo for several weeks while Ty was "waiting for the carpet to arrive." Subsequently, as other reviewers have commented, communications ended. Multiple calls to Floor Coverings International Southwest Metro were unanswered, messages not responded to, phone calls and texts and emails to Ty Anderson unanswered or ignored. We finally contacted other vendors and had some highly experience (30+ years) carpet and flooring installers come review our situation. We were told by all that the plan Ty Anderson agreed to did not make sense, created trip hazards, and should not have been considered from the beginning. We cancelled the carpeting portion of our contract with Floor Coverings International SW Metro and emailed that to Ty Anderson. At that point he finally did respond, arranged to stop by our home to receive final payment for the work that had been completed. He still had not received the carpeting, reasons unclear as everyone else told us it was easily available. He did deduct the portion of our contract that involved the carpet and carpet installation. In summary, sorry for the long review, but in 40+ years of hiring contractors for all kinds of home projects, we have never had such a frustrating, awful experience. We have never had to cancel any agreements with any other contractor. I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere for a flooring/carpeting contractor. We subsequently had our plank flooring corrected and the carpeting installed by Bloomington Carpet One. It was a pleasure working with them due to highly experienced workmen and a well organized business that was able to complete our project in about 3 weeks from when we selected the carpet and signed their agreement!
