Recent Review: Ernie handled the entire project from start to finish and it looks and works great! First Ernie came over to look at what needed to be done and give me some recommendations. He explained to me what needed to be done for the installation of the outlet according to code, and how the microwave would be installed above my range. He explained to me the materials he would need for the project and the estimated cost of materials and his labor. He then gave me a timeline of what he would do when and approximately how long it would take for each step of the process.  I told Ernie to get the best, not the cheapest materials, and allowed him the flexibility to use his own judgement. I was not disappointed. He bought the materials, did the job in a timely manner, and performed high quality work. He really puts all of his effort into his work. I have hired Ernie to do several more jobs for me since then. He does a great job.

Recent Review: Our experience was wonderful!  The company is a father and son who work very well together.  They are both very knowledgeable!!!! The son did a beveled tile back splash for us which included a decorative strip.  The decorative strip was a chevron design, which was extremely hard to get right, but I told him he was a real artist, because he was so meticulous.  The result was so beautiful that I wish I could attach a picture!   We decided to keep our old cabinets but we wanted the refrigerator moved to a different wall.  So they had to move cabinets and build one matching cabinet to cover the space between where the fridge had been and where they moved the pantry to in order to fill in the 10" difference.  The shelves were removed from the old pantry and replaced with pull-outs.  They made the pull out shelves from scratch and they are great!  They then had to basically build a fake wooden cabinet around our new refrigerator to make it look like it was recessed.  They also removed the old spindle molding from the top of the cabinets and replaced it with beautiful crown molding.  This made our 25 year old cabinets look brand new!  We also had 2 of the cabinets moved up 5 inches and moved forward about the same amount just to break up the looks of the cabinets and that turned out beautiful as well.   They removed the old Formica tile floor that we had and installed a new vinyl planking floor.  We got a new microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and gas stove and they installed all of those.   They had to remove two old door facings and install new ones because the new flooring was much thinner than the previous floor so the old door facings did not come down to where the new floors were.  They put down new baseboards, quarter round and transition strips for 3 doors.  They replaced 8 new electrical outlets and face plates, which included 3 GFI's, because the old outlets were almond and we needed white.  Several days they were both here for 11 hours. They were punctual.  I really can't think of a negative thing to say about them.  I told them they could use us as a reference any time!!

The job went very well. We were very pleased with the results of the supports he installed under the house. Our floors and walls are now level! The kitchen looks great with the modification of the wall and the adjustment of the cabinet to accommodate the microwave. Jeremy is very professional and meticulous about his work. He is personable and easy to work with. He leaves the site cleaner than when he arrived. This is the second time Jeremy has done work for us and we look forward to working with him again.

Showed up slightly late but not badly - no problem.  Installed toilet mechanism, tightened tank down, installed downspout, bottom piece and vent cover.  Worked efficiently and spent about two hours to do work.  That's all I needed so even though deal was for four hours I said fine, good work and goodbye.  Johnathan said to text if anything needed tending to.  This all happened on Monday, 8/17. Within 15 minutes of his leaving, I texted him to let him know toilet was leaking badly.  He replied immediately that he realized that problem was that I had purchased a kit that came for a standard two bolt  toilet but mine required three bolts and he would need one more new bolt with bushings.  Since he had other engagements and couldn't come back until the next morning (Tuesday 8/18).  I said no problem and could he pick up needed parts and come at 2PM the next day, which he said was fine. I texted him the next day just before noon and asked if we could push appointment back one hour till 3PM.  His text back was "Well sir I can try".  I'm writing this 4 days later and never heard another word from him until Saturday morning (8/22) when he called and matter-of-factly said he had some time and wanted to come out.  I told him I had waited a couple days to hear back and hired a plumber when I never did hear.  I told him I would never hire him again. I would never entertain the thought of recommending Jonathan Katz and Handy Helpers of Clarksville, IN.

DMr Handyman of Louisville Northeast
I called handyman to fix a leak. Water was getting into my microwave through the vent. They were unable to fix it but charged me around $200 anyway for the attempt. Before the work was started, they said if it wasn't fixed they'd come back out. After getting paid, they said their work was not guaranteed. They compared themselves to doctors who get paid regardless of whether or not they solve the issue. They said they would come back and look but never showed. Later, I diagnosed the problem myself and had a contractor come out and repair the issue. While it is true they charge similar to doctor's rates, the similarities end there. Understand that if you hire Mr Handyman, you are hiring unskilled labor to work by the hour. If you know exactly what needs to be done and you need someone to shovel a ditch for me instance, they would probably do ok but expect to pay a lot for a ditch digger. #mrhandyman is not so handy.

FCreative Tile LLC
I am so disappointed in the lack of professionalism from Creative Tile and specifically Greg the owner. I met with Greg back in February to get an estimate to do an entire kitchen back splash and remove the old grout from and re-grout a marble master bath shower. He came out at the agreed upon time and we discussed what I wanted for the back splash and for the shower. He gave an estimate that I thought was a reasonable and customary amount.  Based on the "glowing" reviews on Angie's List I thought I had found the right person to do the work.  Never at that time or any time subsequent did he indicate he would only work with specific grout, never. I explained to Greg that I was waiting on getting a new range and microwave installed and the tile ordered and that would take some time to get in. He didn't seem to have a problem with that since he was very busy. At the same time we ordered Bostik Tru-color premixed grout since we didn't want to have to seal it over and over and the reviews on that grout have been really good, we couldn't even fathom it would be a problem since it's considered quality grout.  We really wanted to use only the best materials. So all we had to do was wait until everything arrived and then we could set a firm date for installation. I even contacted Greg when I learned our range was back-ordered and told him it would be a couple more weeks.   When the appliances where finally installed and the tile delivered, I called Greg to let him know we were ready to move ahead. We set up a date for April 18th. Today I just got a call from Greg and he pulls the rug out from under me by telling me he has decided he won't do the job. When asked why, he said he doesn't want to use the Bostik grout because, and I quote, "I just tried using it today on a kitchen floor and it's a pain in the butt".  So now he's just decided he won't do the job, and that's that. I could not believe what was happening. We have done so much to prepare for this and just like that, he decides he's not going to do the work. What horrible business acumen.  I cannot believe that he has such high ratings on Angie's List. Now I am beginning to believe what I've heard about how some businesses have their family members beef up the ratings. I can assure you that any reputable, professional tile installation company would want to use the best products for their clients. If they don't then you need to find another contractor. I know I am.  We have so much more tile work to do in this house. But I wouldn't use this contractor if it meant I had to have dirt floors instead. He's dishonest, unreliable and completely unprofessional. A huge F for fail goes to Creative Tile.
