Reviews for Installing Decomposed Granite in Los Angeles

AGreenerz. Inc.
Extremely well. Work was done on time and to my satisfaction. The job site was kept clean, the workers showed on time, and the communication with the company representative who made himself available throughout the job was top notch.

AGreen Vision Inc
Green Vision transformed our yard over the course of 3 days helping us to remove old and unwanted trees and planing a diverse new collection of beautiful plants in their place. They also helped us to install Decomposed Granite in various locations around the property improving the appearance and functionality of our yard. We are pleased with the high-quality work they performed.

Here are some reasons why we give them a TOP-rating of 5 stars!! 1) Professional Service. We had a terrific project manager; Rumaldo, who "kept the ball rolling" always with a smile on a labor-intensive project. 2) Excellent Staff. We were assigned a hard-working & friendly team (Antonio and Jose) who followed directions perfectly and made helpful suggestions. 3) Flexible and Fair. You can't foresee and plan everything ahead of time on any job involving creativity and problem solving. FLORES was willing to work with us on changes and even met us at the Nursery to help us pick out appropriate plants considering the different daylight around our property and the irrigation they installed. 4) 90-day warranty upon completion. This is invaluable and hard to find these days with any company, but FLORES made sure we were very happy with all the results. It doesn't get better than that folks! W & D

ADavid's Landscaping
Our driveway has two cement strips for car tires and used to have grass on either side and down the middle. The grass didn't have irrigation and we park our cars in the driveway which covered the grass it looked pretty shabby. Don and his guys came, ripped out the (mostly dead) grass and installed dg in it's place. They also did 5 half round circles with stones and planted some drought tolerant plants and one mandarine tree we had picked bought. They also planted two agaves and some fescues in the dg for us. The plants form a nice line parallel to our neighbor's fence. I'm sure Don would be helpful choosing plants, but we enjoyed doing it ourselves. This is the second time we've used Don, previously he installed new sprinklers, fixed existing sprinklers and installed other DG paths around the outside of our house. He is a very nice guy and the guys he has working for him are extremely friendly, professional and do really good work. The DG in the driveway has held up well so far and the DG paths from about a year earlier still look very good. Don was good about listening to what we wanted and was flexible about not using roundup when we asked him not to. His prices were in line or below estimates we got from other landscapers.

ADavid's Landscaping
This review is long overdue... but since I'll be calling David's to do more landscaping work I felt like I needed to put it in. I had some decomposed granite installed by another landscaper as part of a major yard overhaul and the DG just wasn't done well - their people didn't have enough expertise in hardscaping. I needed the surface to be totally flat and level because I was installing a grid system over it for a sports court (works great, btw!). I hired David's to come in and fix my DG and they did beautiful work - the surface was perfect when they were done and my court went in and has been trouble free for two years. Their fee was really reasonable, they came quickly, worked fast and I couldn't have been happier with the result.

BC Perez Sprinkler & Landscape
Let me preface this by saying this company is timely and willing to please.  Unfortunately I had disappointing results, yet they handled it appropriately. I contacted them for an estimate because of their good reviews on Angie?s List. I wanted them to remove 50% of old decomposed granite and replace it with new granite. They suggested that prior to hiring them that I go to see a newly completed decomposed granite project in Woodland Hills as an example of their work, which I did.  I liked the results very much, telling them that I wanted the same finish and firmness of that project, especially since that family had an active dog and I do as well.  I specifically requested that they use the gas operated tampering machine for my job as they did for that job in Woodland Hills.  They understood and agreed to what I wanted and I hired them.       Sadly the results were not the same as Woodland Hills. There were/are issues with little loose decomposed rocks throughout my yard.  I have to sweep the little rocks with a broom every few days.  I certainly did not expect perfection by any means, but I did expect that the results would be very close to Woodland Hills. They?d used a grass roller to tamp the decomposed granite as opposed to the gas operated tampering machine that they used in Woodland Hills.  I was home; the machine was not used.   I heard it for a few minutes in the beginning of the day, then saw them working on it. I think it was having problems.  In speaking with the company where they purchased the granite, I was told that issues such as mine are because the grass roller is not enough to do the correct job, that the tampering machine should have been used. I'm left to wonder why if there were problems with the machine, did they not go out and rent one for the day. The owner, Cipriano, agreed that the decomposed granite was not right and offered to re-do the job, promising to use the tampering machine this time.   I was also offered the option of a refund.  I chose to accept the refund, which I did receive within a few days.

ASUNSHINE GROWERS
We always go here. My wife likes it here. They are really friendly and knowledgeable. They carry different kinds of plants that other companies don't have. They supply a lot of the local stores with plants. The price is not the best, but everything is there, so I don't have to run around town looking for things. If they can't find an answer, they will call someone who will explain it to you. They will deliver.

AIsmael Hernandez Gardening
Ismael came out to give me an estimate and I was very excited after meeting him. He seemed to understand exactly what we wanted to do. (It was a total of about 5 smaller jobs.) He said he would get back to me with a cost in the next day or so, though it ended up taking almost a week! I guess he was having trouble matching the pebbles and hence was late with the estimate. Ultimately, his price was a few hundred dollars lower then the other 2 landscapers we talked to, and he was available to do the work that Saturday. Because he was so highly recommended on Angie's List, we decided to give him the go ahead. He worked with 2 other guys, and they worked hard. The guys were very pleasant, and one even helped us move a heavy cabinet when he saw me struggling to move it with my husband. They did a great job, though I noticed them packing down the DG over black plastic even though we talked about it going down over landscape fabric that would allow for drainage.  But he had them pull it up and do it the way we discussed. It looks great and is really solid, too. What I liked most about Ismael is that he worked with his guys - the whole time. And they were all working hard. He didn't just show up to get them started and take off.  I would have really liked some better communication upfront, but the job was done to our satisfaction and his price was best, too. Overall we are very happy with Ismael and look forward to using his team again in the future!

AAnthony's Quality Landscaping
Anthony is working on both the front and backyard. In the backyard, he will lay down decomposed granite to form a path around the perimeter of the lawn so we can install an outdoor kitchen. In the front, he removed the old lawn to get it ready for xeriscaping. He is friendly, professional and easy to work with. I changed the project several times, he never got frustrated nor upset (If he did, he never showed it). He is still working on the project ,but from what I can see, it is going to come out perfect.

ARainbow Landscaping
Fernando is my hero. He worked on transforming our barren, weed-ridden backyard into the family oasis of my dreams. He was a pleasure to work with from his initial visit for a quote to the completion of the job, approximately 10-12 days later. He assisted me in choices at the vendors I selected for materials, is reliable, and has a great crew of guys working with him. I can't actually express how grateful I am to have found him, especially since he completed our work just weeks before COVID had us housebound. His quote fit our budget, and his work was exceptional. I highly recommend Rainbow Landscaping to anyone in need of yard beautification.

Recent Review: Fernando does great work. He is professional, prompt, and knowledgeable. His team remove a tire size tree stump, and concrete rubble from behind our garage. He cleared the space and laid decomposed granite to prevent anything from growing in the space. The price for the job was what i expected. We will continue to call Fernando for future jobs.
