RED CARPET PLUMBING Plumbing Repair
Recent Review: The kitchen faucet was old and leaking to the point that it could not be used without water collecting under the sink.  I purchased a new kitchen faucet and had every intention of installing it myself, but soon realized that the hot and cold water shutoff valves had corroded open and could not be budged.  The next appointment available was the next day.  Clint called while on his way from his last appointment, and arrived on time.  He was professional and polite -- and somehow managed to keep his white shirt spotless while working!   He first removed the water filtration system that we had not been using.  Then he set to removing the old 3-way shutoff valves to replace them with the new 2-way valves.  Using tools (that I was glad I did not have to buy for a one-time job) and a great deal of muscle, he was able to replace them.  Installing the new faucet was tricky and not really a job for one person (some faucets are easier to hold steady and fasten at the same time, but this was not one of them).  Fortunately, Clint was able to manage this on his own as well.    Lacking the specialized tools, strength, and dexterity required to complete this job, hiring Red Carpet Plumbing was a no-brainer.  I have used them once before and were pleased with the results, as well as with the $40 gift card sent in a thank-you card from this previous job.  Clint was also understanding of the fact that cats are curious creatures -- both of my cats had to inspect his work while he was under the sink.  All debris/junk from removal/installation was disposed of by Clint, and the inside of the cabinet under the sink was dry and spotless when he left (definitely not the case when he arrived!).   Later that evening, we discovered that there was a leak somewhere in the new installation, as water had collected under the sink again.  We called Clint the next morning, and he came over immediately.  He quickly discovered that one of the metal hoses that went from the shutoff valve to the faucet connector had a small breach.  He replaced it, cleaned up the water from the leak, and did not charge for the additional service call.   I would not hesitate to use Red Carpet Plumbing again for any plumbing needs.  They do indeed send out a $40 gift card after every service visit, toward your next call.  Also, their pricing is standardized and by task, not by time spent!  You will pay the same whether your job takes 30 minutes or 3 hours.

Constant dripping under the kitchen sink, had to call a plumbing company to find the source and repair as soon as possible. Called Larkin Plumbing because they had fairly good rating with Angie's List and Yelp. By mid afternoon, the plumber (not a technician) arrived and determined that the adjustable spray faucet needed to be replaced and could not be repaired. I asked for an estimate and was given a quote of $600 for parts and labor, which I thought was still outrageous. That is what I was expecting, but since I had to leave, my wife paid the invoice that included a new faucet ($367), valve/parts ($49), tax ($36), and trip charge ($7). The final total was $787! The next day I complained to the manager and he explained that the going rate for a plumber is $164 per hour and that is what determined the total labor cost. When asked why a plumber and not a lower priced technician had to do this somewhat simple job, he had no answer other than he would elevate my complaint to the ownership. No follow up or response from either side. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Good experience. They installed a new faucet I bought, and also replaced the angle stop which was leaking. Additional cost for that was very reasonable. Pd $99 for faucet install & $95 for angle stop stuff.

AHalf Price Plumber
I was in a bind because I needed my new kitchen sink and faucet installed during a very specific window on a Saturday, because it was meant as a surprise Christmas gift for my husband and that was the day I'd arranged for a friend to take him out and distract him for long enough for the installation to happen. Another plumber I liked and had used before simply wouldn't come on a Saturday, Home Depot initially said Saturday would work but then the plumber they contracted with also said Saturdays were a no, then the next few places I called would do it, but their prices were much too steep (as in, I'd rather install it myself steep, and I'm almost 7 months pregnant). Then I called Half Price Plumber! The process was painless start to finish. I called him, he answered right away, I told him the details and he gave me a quote right over the phone, including a small discount for being on Angie's List. We were able to schedule a day and time right away, Saturday wasn't a problem, and his price was competitive with the first plumber I wanted and cheaper than Home Depot's quote. I needed to change the time slightly a few days before the install, and that was also painless. He arrived as promised on time--actually, early--but he called me first to make sure the coast was clear! The installation itself went off without a hitch, and the new sink and faucet were beautiful (a single basin matte white Swanstone sink and a "spotless" stainless steel Moen pull-out/pull-down faucet with soap dispenser). Incidentally, he was also good-natured about listening to Christmas music with me (as I wrapped presents) and was nice to my nosy dog, who greeted him at the door. At the end of the day, my husband LOVED the sink. Washing dishes is sort of his "zen" activity, he really enjoys it, but our old sink was ugly, scratched, cramped, and the faucet leaked to the point of occasionally spraying water out of the handle. After his initial shock, the first thing he said after he unwrapped his gift (as in, lifted the gift-wrapped box I'd capped it with) was, "We can wash our baby in this!" The whole surprise was worth it just for that. :)

CLas Vegas Handyman & HVAC
We purchased a shower faucet, but needed it installed. My Brother in Law tried to install the faucet, but had some difficulties. Since we found Las Vegas Handyman on Angie's List and read the reviews, I decided to give them a call. An appointment was scheduled and one of their techs came out. Can't remember his name. Pretty straight forward. Stated that we needed a "new cartridge" and needed some "clip". Had the cartridge with him, but not the clip. He offered to run to Home Depot and get the clip, but the labor charge increased. OK, fine. It needs to be done. Did the job. However, what happened after really turned me off with this company. When the tech finished, he accused my brother in law of "losing" the clip. Whether he did or not doesn't matter to you. I still paid you for the time you took to go to Home Depot. Also, when I gave him the 10% off coupon from Angie's List, he reluctantly took it, after rolling his eyes at me. Then, I needed some repairs on one of our toilets. But I was only looking for a quote. He almost left before giving me the quote. I had to remind him. He promised that the office would e-mail me the quote. Guess what, I never received it. Even checked the spam mail several days after. What he said before he left really takes the cake. As he was leaving, he turns to me and states, "Next time you need to do repairs, leave it to the professionals." WHAT!!!!!! What nerve. A professional would never make a comment like that. I'm not going to stroke your ego! In conclusion, was the work done, yes. However, because of the unprofessional treatment and comments that were made, I would not hire them again. Don't bother.

He gave us an extremely high estimate. Ended up just paying the $149 service call. Hired someone else and work was done for a lot less money and satisfactorily.
