California Chimney Sweep
Recent Review: Clean, professional, and a lot of information for us to consider about how we build a fire, and maintain our fireplace. They recommended a new cap. Since the work was done in spring, we haven't had another fire yet. but their service was on point. (on time, in scope, on budget)

A Pane in the Glass
Recent Review: Chad and his partner came to my home and they both start right in washing. Chad has the experience and background for cleaning the 2 sided gas fireplace chimney and glass. Chad started dismantling the fireplace glass on both sides and than brought in the the dry vac and attached to opening inside the fireplace that is the bottom of the chimney opening. Chad placed a large drop cloth on the floor next to the fireplace and extended out to the floor where my area rug is located. He turned on the dry vac and than went on the roof with the chimney sweep brushes to clean the walls of the chimney. When done with the chimney, Chad took the two panes of glass to the fireplace outside for cleaning. In the meantime, his partner has finished the windows in the front of the Casita and the front and back of the house working on the final side where the family room and kitchen are located. They checked their work for any streaking and asked if I was satisfied with the work done. I than gave Chad a check for the work done and he said he would be in touch with me in December but if I needed his services before that time to give him a call. Having my windows cleaned and the fireplace is a real treat and a service that I really do appreciate and look forward to having done. The Nevada heat is too much for me and having A Pane in the Glass handle this chore puts a smile on my face. In addition, it allows me to enjoy the view of my backyard from several rooms. The windows stay clean looking for several months, so I don't have this service done monthly. These guys don't waste any time and use a generous amount of cleaning solution on the glass and screens. I did not have the inside of the windows cleaned as I will be having remodeling work done to my kitchen. I have had A Pane in the Glass clean both inside and out in the past and will have it done on their next visit in December or January.

My Italian Greyhound has no fat and little hair, so he spends most of the winter months in front of the fireplace. Several days ago, I noticed that the tiles surrounding the fireplace were black with soot. Upon closer examination, I found that the mantle was also sooty, and there were large black spots on the curtains next to the fireplace, and decorative candles on TOP of the mantle were melting! Something was definitely wrong. I checked (actually joined) Angie's List and found that this contractor was the only chimney sweep recommended, so I called. My heart sank when the line was busy the first time I called - I figured they were so busy this time of year (it had been incredibly cold and even snowed!) that I would have to wait weeks. I called again, though, and got right through. The gentleman (it was the same guy who showed up at my house) answered, got my address and said he'd call back when he was near his scheduling book. He called back several hours later and told me he might be able to make it later that afternoon, but if not, definitely the next morning. Either way, expecting weeks, I was thrilled. He came at 10 the next morning and, after saying hello to my dogs, assessed the situation and immediately got to work. He couldn't really figure out why everything was so dirty, but just proceeded to clean it all - probably cleaner than it has ever been! He was initially concerned about a carbon monoxide problem and even took his ladder up on my deck to access the outside of the chimney. He said he gave it more breathing room. By the time he was done, I fully expected the price to be higher than the estimate he had given me over the phone (and rightfully so; he had done much more work than either of us expected). I was shocked but quite pleased that the final price was not one penny more than the price he had initially quoted - AND he had even cleaned my dirty tiles!

Ron was prompt, professional, thorough and courteous. He explained in detail what had happened to the fireplace and how it got that way (the fireplace can and we do burn wood). After asking us a few questions about our usage, he suggested to be sure the fireplace would work properly and no longer be a safety hazard, we have the chimney cleaned prior to his working on the fireplace (something we had never done in the 20 years we have lived in our home, shame on us). Ron does not clean chimneys but when we asked, was able to recommend someone to us. Ron even made the call to the Chimney Sweep himself on our behalf. Once this was done, Ron called to make an appointment to come back out and repair the fireplace. He arrived when he said he would, quickly and efficiently made the repairs being careful of personal possessions and cleanliness, he even repaired the log fire grate that had been damaged as well which was really only a cosmetic issue . Once done, Ron showed us what he had done and how we could even use the log lighter on 2 different settings if we wanted to. We were extremely impressed with the overall experience, would use Ron again and feel confident referring him to anyone.
