I interviewed five different contractors, and picked Land View based on Mike's presentation, his schematic drawing and reviews on Angie's List. His drawing was exactly what I was looking for and what I had described to him in more general terms. Price was higher than what I had budgeted, but I quickly realized that my budget was too low for what I wanted, after talking to all of the contractors. (I might add that one of the contractors tried to get me to spend $1,500 up front, on what he called a 3-D video, which would be credited towards the contract price if he was picked. Ridiculous! I told him to give me a schematic drawing to put him on the same sheet of music as the other contractors. He brought his partner to our lot, did some measurements, all the while still trying to sell his 3-D video. That was the last I saw of him. He never came back or called or gave me a drawing. And he has 5-star reviews on Angie's List!) Mike started the job in early November and finished essentially everything by New Year's. Workers showed up every work day and promptly went to work, only stopping for lunch. Everyone knew exactly what to do, with no wasted time or motion. All of my questions and concerns presented to Mike were answered and addressed the same or next day. All explanations were thorough and easy to understand, especially technical questions about the construction of the pond. The one thing I liked about Mike was that if he said he would do something, he did it. There was no "I forgot", whether unintentional or by design. Really refreshing attribute after my experience with contractors in the past. That is the way I have done business all my life, but I know it is a rare trait in people. So I appreciate it when I see it in others. Also, if my wife or myself did not like a certain plant or wanted to change certain aspects of the construction, all was done willingly and promptly, unless there was a good reason not to do so. And it there was, it was explained clearly and politely. I would not hesitate at all in recommending Land View to anyone. My experience working with Mike and Anne was pleasant and actually fun. They are professionals and obviously take a lot of pride in their work. (For example, Mike had his workmen reconstruct the waterfall because he was not satisfied with the way the water was falling.) I am thoroughly enjoying my back yard today because of what they did.
