Indianapolis Contracting
Recent Review: Overall, the work went very well. Mr. Gros arranged for the special removal and disposition of the old roof. He explained things well. The Indianapolis Contracting roofers worked, as I wrote above, hard and well (they had to deal with, among other things, thousands of pieces of DaVinci rought-cut slate put up in a staggered style). Several structural problems were detected along the way (after the old roof was removed) and fixed, within the original budget. They accommodated special electrical work in the roof. Mr. Gros found perfectly designed old-style copper-work. We are delighted with the the work of Mr. Gros and the Indianapolis Contracting slate-roof team.

STEWART ROOFING
Recent Review: My husband and I are very pleased with the results of all the work that Stewart Roof and Sheet Metal has done for us! This is the second time we have used this company for slate/ copper roofing work. Previously, they installed slate roofing and copper gutters on a new detached garage we built in 2010. This time, the projects were on our old two story 1920's 2-car garage/ garage studio. The team consisted of three men. We had a delayed start date due to the wet weather in May/June. Since we were not in a major rush... they started our projects in July. Just as soon as they started, the weather was in the 90's and very humid. It took two weeks to complete everything. Had the weather not been so hot [creating unsafe hot working conditions]... I would say it would have taken them a week. The task to build up the flat roof to have pitch/ slope, along with, working around two in-use AC units did create some challenges. The team built a hoist contraption to raise the AC units a few inches off the roof while they worked. They did cleaned up after themselves daily. The materials, tools, ladders they left on site daily were neatly organized. I understand that Jim and his team are the fourth generation in this family roofing company. Most of their work is done in the Meridian Kessler and surrounding neighborhoods on homes ranging from $200K to well over $1M. Start/during/finish: We contacted the company for an initial meeting. We presented Jim with a rough drawing of the old garage noting what we knew needed repaired/replaced/ added....along with our desire to have the flat roof section built up to have a slight slope for better drainage. Within a few days..... we received an email estimate of the cost for all projects and got on their work list schedule. During the project... we would touch base almost daily with the team on the progress. Upon completion, we paid exactly what the estimate was. They went beyond requirements/ expectations! We'll be using Stewart Roofing and Sheet Metal Company again for additional slate roof maintenance and copper gutter work on the main parts of the house. We highly recommend them. They stand behind their work. Final note: The other bid we got from a large company based out of Ohio was for $29, 600. That company wanted us to have the AC units removed prior to the project and then re-installed afterwards. Temporary removal of the AC units was going to be over $3K ....bringing their overall cost at over $30k. We paid 1/2 that amount, not compromising on quality of workmanship, materials used nor our use of the AC units during such hot weather.

Reviews in Indianapolis to Replace Flat Roof

CBone Dry Roofing Inc
They replaced the roof and my husband saw that the nails were not in the holes that were provided. My husband asked them about it and they said it was okay. Then it rained and soaked everything underneath the new flat roof. So the emergency Bone Dry people came out immediately and did get it right after a few visits.

CA&W Exterior Restoration
The proposal was in mid-September, 2011.  We had several proposals and 10 days ago, we asked them to do the job.  We also asked them in doing the job, if they could have it finished it this past Wednesday, they said yes, but we haven’t heard from them since and went with another company.  We didn’t have any doubts that they could do a good job.  It’s a small company which we understand and they are kind of weather related i.e. when the weather is bad, they do not work, but the problem is that there was just no communication.  We told them that, we will leave it open, you don’t have to have us at home, but we need to have it done in a week, because we are having some company and we do not want you to be there in the middle of that.  They agreed to that and we asked them to call a day ahead, so that we knew they were coming, but we haven’t heard from them and it’s been 10 days now.  I truly believe their workmanship will be great, but their communication is awful.  When they were here they answered all our questions thoroughly and addressed my concerns, so they were willing to work with us.  I would rate them C on punctuality as getting them here was a difficult proposition.  If I had unlimited time, I would be safe to have him do the job, because he seemed like a very knowledgeable person.  It’s just a matter that, with the winter coming in, we wanted it to be done.  We have been working on this since August and it’s been our fault ragging in between different companies, but it’s been a week’s rag, every time we called them, before we heard from them.  I will call them again if I have unlimited time.  With regards to responsiveness it was just a lengthy time for their follow up.

FCMR CONSTRUCTION & ROOFING
Eric Hunter the original salesman and contact was virtually impossible to contact and never returned phone calls. The salesmen were misleading in the product they purchased for the clay tile replacement. The tile was removed while I was not at home with no call to let me know that they were to do that. The flat roof portion of my home leaked while being replaced. A shingle covered porch leaked after done, despite being repaired twice. I am still without tile to place on the major portion of my home, and am still without gutters that are to be replaced. My project has been going on for approximately two months since the initial removal of the tile. I sustained approximately $6500 in damages and am still awaiting reimbursement for $600. I am still awaiting reimbursement for the purchase of the salvaged tile that was removed from the roof which i expect to be between $500 and $1000.

CABC Roofing Company, Inc.
The game that they played with me went like this--they promise something over the phone, put the bare minimum in writing, come out and deliver less than what they promised, then explain they don't recall what they promised. I'm really not sure what happened here. ABC has a tremendous reputation, I think they just got too busy for my little flat roof. I'd only consider hiring them again if I had a large enough project to get their attention, like a complete tear-off and re-shingle. It took me over an hour to properly set the gutter guards and seal the exposed wood. I would have been on the phone with ABC at least twice that long before they would have come out to do it. I have a feeling I'll continue to discover cut corners like these.
