Recent Review: Ralph did the job when he said he would and seemed to be a very nice and honest man but the quality of his work is questionable. For example: 1. Some of the braces holding up the middle part of the wood were not nailed down; they were just shoved under it. 2. The railing on one set of stairs does not match the other side. 3. Some of the pieces of wood are nailed in crooked. On some pieces where it should be aligned, it sticks out by 1and quot; on one side and is indented one inch on the other. 4. On one of the handrails in the front, he put a piece of wood with a big gouge with splintery edges on the top whereas the bottom of it is smooth. Why wouldn't he just turn it over and put the nice side up? 5. I asked him to replace a piece of rotten wood on one of the stairs. He replaced the wrong one. 6. The wood does not butt up against each other. There are small spaces between them. 7. One of the cross pieces is cracked where a nail was hammered. I don't think he would do this quality of work at his own house. His attention to detail is severely lacking. I have not been able to get him back out now that he has been paid in full and knows that I am not happy with some of his work. This work was done on a small weekend place so I was not there to supervise.

Recent Review: The work that was done was perfect both in terms of appearance and price. The initial bid was reviewed carefully and the estimated time was spot on. Not only did we get what we asked to have done but we also got suggestions on how to do it better which were most appreciated and accepted. Quick, quiet and trustworthy. I wish we had more to do!

Recent Review: Victors did an excellent job.  The price was right on the money, the crew was very professional.  We had some weather issues around Christmas and work was delayed a bit but absolutely no problem for me.   The crews were friendly, knew their job well, cleaned up the mess every day and when it was finished it looks like a new house !   I have referred them already to a couple of people and highly recommend Victors for siding and outside work !

Recent Review: We have an old Ryland home with an upstairs kitchen.  The original builder's design only had an 8' X 16' deck outside the kitchen door.  We had this deck replaced several years ago to add an additional 12' X 12' area and also stairs down to the backyard.  I began to mistrust this replacement deck recently, as I could feel it wobble a bit, especially if more than a couple people were on it. We got three bids to replace this deck, and went with Decks for Less.  The owner, Jimmy, was very personable and competent, pointing out things on our old deck that were questionable and explaining how he would do them differently to make the deck stronger.  He suggested improvements to our old design and also ways to save a little money (having the stairs go straight down to the yard instead of turning halfway at a landing). A big crew of seven or eight guys showed up on the first day to tear down the old deck, and everything was gone by the middle of the day.  Big 6" X 6" supports were concreted in. The second day a smaller three-man crew showed up to begin framing.  The joists were complete and part of the high deck had flooring by the end of the day.  While his crew was working on the high deck, Jimmy built the lower 12' X 12' deck himself. The third day a two-man crew finished out the high deck with the rest of the flooring and rails.  Jimmy tore out and rebuilt our front porch railing. The fourth (last) day, a two-man crew built the stairs from the high deck down to the back yard, complete with handrails.  The last part of the day they cleaned everything up. The deck looks great and seems to be very well built.  All the lumber except the joists and supports was routered on the corners to make it look nicer.  All boards were fastened with wood screws.  Small details, like mismatches where the new deck didn't align with the house where the old deck was fastened, were trimmed out to look nice.  Deck corners were trimmed with mitered boards and look really good. It was as hot as the surface of the sun and these guys showed up promptly at 8:00 every morning and didn't leave until around 6:00, with only a lunch break.  Jimmy made sure to provide his crew with whatever they'd need for the day so there were no delays running to the builder's supply to get something.  These guys did great work, I would definitely recommend them.

Recent Review: This was the second time we used Wood Customs. As with the first time Cesar's crew did a great job. They were friendly and worked quickly and cleanly. Cesar came by frequently to check in progress, and everything was done in the time and for the price estimated. Cesar also beat the other quote I received. I will always check with Cesar before having any work done at my house. He's friendly and I trust him to make sure good work is done.

Recent Review: Budget Right called with notice of (slight) delay in arrival time. Had purchased two hours of "handyman" time on Angie's special offer. Had selected B.R. from location (and Angie's reports). Mark was polight and considerate, reviewed situation (a handrail mounting had split). Studs had to be located for successful repair. BR shopped for molding, added extra bracket for safety, purchased rail supports, remounted molding on wall into studs as necessary, mounted three supports, then filled plaster holes where necessary, painted and cleaned up. BR added $20. for cost of materials, and left remainder of fill material for continued maintenance.Work was performed on 115-year-old historical building.

Recent Review: What a fantastic job Houston Deck and Shade did for us! We found this company on Angieslist and contacted for an estimate. Loren came out and listened to what we wanted in a deck, and made great suggestions. Work was scheduled for 3 weeks later, and was done in one day. We also needed a wooden frame built for a sun screen that we were going to install, and it was not a problem for Loren to build that in, also. In fact, he made it even "prettier" than I expected! We love our new deck and HIGHLY recommend Houston Deck and Shade for prompt, professional and quality workmanship.

Recent Review: Ron is honest, fair, and a good listener. He understood exactly what I wanted and made it happen. He added a lot of practical extras, such as moving the ceiling light to the new center of the room and putting in a handrail and some flooring in my attic to make access easier. He supervised the work and his crew did the work. Everyone on the crew was capable, polite, and followed my wishes. I can't say enough about how happy I am with the job.

I totally wasted several weeks waiting for promised email & phone call replies that never came.  Left numerous voice mail messages  for them & only after repeated attempts did someone actually answer the phone.  Then, all I got were lame excuses & empty promises to get back to me.   I wasted my time; don't waste yours!

My new staircase looks fabulous! I am super impressed with the quality of the work, and how clean and respectful Edson and his crew were. They taped and covered everything. They even had a guy vacuuming behind the guy drilling the wood, like a dental assistant would. I was very impressed. I sent Edson a picture of what I wanted my stairs to look like, and he matched it perfectly. He also sent a very detailed and itemized estimate. There were no additional costs for anything, and he even did more than was quoted to make the job look right. I was a little confused when I got emails and calls from Luis (the salesman who came to get information for the estimate) and Edson, and from more than one email account/business name. But it all worked out in the end. I love my new staircase.

FFOUR SEASONS SUNROOMS
Horrible service--a complete waste of $10K. Their sales guy (from Isle of Man) assured us of a top notch job--complete customer satisfaction. We were in a hurry to get this done and plunked down 1/3 of the cost.....then no one got back to us for 3.5 months. We had originally asked for a screened-in second floor back porch and just replacement rails/posts on second story front porch (the originals were 40+ yrs old and showing signs of wood rot). We showed them the house down the street and asked if they could give us similar posts/railings. They said they could. When they finally sent a crew, they demanded the next 1/3 payment to buy supplies, which they did. The crew, however, had no drawings or plans, and could not do simple math. An 8th grade wood shop student could have done a better job. The crew was some guy named Scooter and his son, along with the construction supervisor, Rick Stutes. Once we saw what they were doing on the back porch we asked him to stop work, forget the screens, just replace the railings and posts with new wood--an extremely simple assignment. They could have purchased the pieces at Home Depot or Lowes! Instead, they fabricated posts out of a Hardy-plank substance and never finished the job. Left big gaps where the posts meet the porch roof and holes in our siding. It looks horrible now, and we need to hire someone else to come in, tear the old work out, and redo it. Expensive lesson learned--these guys are nothing but crooks and liars. I would be glad to provide photos to show you their workmanship.   Some time in spring of 2015, I contacted them and asked when they would finish.  A guy named Jason Rose emailed me and said all of the former people had been fired, and that he had been brought in from CA to clean up their messes.  He came and saw the work, promised to fix it, and never came back.  Last contact was August 2015, when he promised that it would be done by October.......crickets.  We have an older house and have had lots of repair work done over the years--pool resurfacing, new roof, hardwood floor refinishing, painting, kitchen and bath remodeling.  We have never written a bad review.  Stay far away from these nitwits.
