Recent Review: I'm in Palmdale CA, 15th Street W. and Avenue O. Sure glad I found United Carports! Great customer service, Diane promptly answered my many questions. We communicated mostly by email with a few phone calls. She promptly adjusted price based on my several changes to specifications and options. Price was VERY good compared to others after much online shopping and estimates from local contractors. I got the certified plans from United Carports and used those plans to get the permit for LA County (a "learning experience"). I was quite nervous about the down payment and $500 for the plans as I didn't know if plans would be approved. After a couple of mods to the plans and about $3500 to the County, they were approved much to my relief. It took about 3 months for County to approve them. After finally getting approved plans, I got a local contractor for the concrete floor, he just followed the plans and did an excellent job. Then United Carports sent out a team to put up the building. It took about 2 1/2 days. It was obviously an experienced installation team with 2 to 6 installers working on it at any given time. I'm VERY happy with the results, it is rated for 110 mph winds per County requirements for Antelope Valley so it is a little more sturdy than the standard frame. The building isn't perfect but I didn't expect perfection for the price. The building is sound and was wind/rain tested a couple of days after the install. I got some drafts and blow-in around the bottom base rail. I asked United Carports about methods for better sealing . I was just looking for some tips on getting a better seal and fully expected to do it myself. But the next day one of the owners made the 4-hour round trip to my house to help with sealing! Awesome customer support after the install! The standard roll-up doors are a bit "cheesy" but quite serviceable. I ordered optional seals around them but they still won't be sealed well around the sides. For the price, I didn't expect any better. If I decide better roll-up doors are needed in the future, then it appears it won't be difficult to replace them. Windows and walk-in doors were good quality. Overall, a great experience working with United Carports customer service and the installation team. I am quite impressed with the final product, it exceeds my expectations. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

My husband and I had a house built by Fresno Management dba Western Homes. The quality of the my new house is not the same as what is displayed in the model house. We are now over 8 weeks past the home walk-through. We have not moved into our new house yet because the builder says they need their final payment before we can move in and we don't want to give them their final payment until everything is fixed. They are okay with their subcontractors doing crappy work and when you call them out on it they do not want to make things right. I was told today that the owners do not want to meet with me to discuss the issues that my husband and I are unhappy with and they are not going to do anything else. Here are the issues: First the cabinets were stained (by Everlast Painting in Clovis) the wrong color and we agreed to a "fix", the cabinets were finished and had bubbles in the finished and scratches/chips in the wood were not sanded down or filled prior to the stain application, contractor came back out and was supposed to fix the scratches, bubbles, and unstained strips on the hinge side of the cabinet doors but only half way sanded out some scratches and applied another clear coat and left the bubbles. contractor came back out a 3rd time to only sanded down bubbles in the finish and did NOTHING to remedy the scratches/chips in the wood or the unstained strips on the hinge side of the cabinet doors. the owners of the Western Homes said they are doing nothing else with regards to the cabinets and to me that is UNACCEPTABLE. The quality of my cabinets is NOT the same as what is displayed in their model house and that is what I am asking for. Others issues are the stucco'd eves. They are sloppily done and gaps where you can stick your fingers through. A subcontractor dented our metal water heater closet door and instead of replacing it they bondo?d and painted it. Linoleum in the dining room is already lifting. I was told by western homes that they can not warranty this because this is along an expansion joint. At NO time did anyone ever tell me this and now I have a huge lifted piece of linoluem in the middle of my dining room that no one wants to fix. The flashing around the chaise and pipe was not installed properly, the roof leaked after the insulation and drywall were installed. This leak was there prior to the insulation and drywall and I was told that everything was okay but that was not the case and went we went in the house on Christmas Day 2012 we saw stained drywall. We have been assured that no water touched the insulation or drywall but I don?t understand how that can be the case when water stains showed up at the bottom of the drywall. It is a HUGE concern that we will be seeing mold and/or mildew issues the near future. All we are asking is for is the same quality of work that is displayed in the model house and if other issues arise within the next year (which is the warranty period) I am afraid that they won't fix anything. We have got nothing but the run around while we continue to accure interest at 7.5% on our new construction loan and have had to pay loan extension fees and the builder doesn't want to reimburse us for the extra fees we incurred because they say it isn't their fault... Since they are the construction management company and hire the subcontractors they should be on the hook if problems don't get fixed.

We have fund that he always does an excellent job remodeling our older home. The quality of his work is wonderful and the price he charges is very fair. The sub contractors he hires are professional, do the same quality of work and are always on time. He is wonderful at working with us to make sure that the projects are exactly what we want and need rather than trying to force something that won't fit with our home. We never have to worry about delays or having a project drag on, he gives us realistic time frames and lets us know what to expect for work in our home. We don't have to worry about any surprises.

I have been very pleased with both the fairness of the cost and quality of the work. Just as important, I was happy with the timely manner in which the work was completed. The workers showed up when they were supposed to and the work was done when Steven said it was going to be done. I have had rental propertied in the Fresno/Clovis area for several years. I can't tell you how much frustration I have had with people in the past not showing up to work on the house and nothing being done. In addition to this was the frustration of not being able to get a hold of someone to find out what was causing the delay. I have NEVER had this problem with Steve. He always informed me of any possible delays and always gave me a reason why. He always returned my calls promptly. For these reason, I will definitively use Steve in the future. It was good to have someone I could count on.

ACeasar Briones Construction
When I discovered that I had a major problem with my house and that it was in jeopardy of collapsing, I had to act quickly to get temporary shoring in place and also get a structural engineer and architect on board to get the designs moving. I met Ceaser Briones, of Briones Construction, and walked him through the requirement to shore up the ceiling to prevent the house from collapsing. Briones Construction jumped in and went to work immediately and helped me save my house. They didn't take advantage of my situation by trying to overcharge me. I know because I build facilities and maintain them for a living, and know how much it should cost to do the work. Once all of the shoring was in place, we focused on the structural and architectural designs to make the necessary structural repairs and to remodel the house. Briones Construction was instrumental in helping the architect and structural engineer with field measurements and confirming as-built conditions. Once the designs were finished and permits pulled, Briones Construction didn't hesitate a moment to get started with the work. They coordinated every aspect of the job, including moving my furniture, fencing the site, bringing in a roll off trash bin, etc. They knew what they were doing and were very professional. Briones Construction's work was meticulous and every detail was addressed. Their quality was outstanding in every respect.

My husband and I were looking into remodeling our home and decided to start in entry room and kitchen. We heard about Marc through a co-worker who had him build her house. He came in the next day after we called. It was was a fairly large job and he did a great job with time and budget management. He checked the house out and we told him our ideas and he gave us an estimate on price and length of job. Marc came in two days later and began work. He handled everything himself, the demo and cleaning up too. Marc delivered what he promised. He really has some great ideas and wonderful taste. He knows his stuff but he listened to exactly what we wanted. My husband and I are hoping to have him begin on our office and spare bedroom within the next couple of months.

FSIERRA CUSTOM HOMES
It's a LONG story, but let me state that this contractor had to be constantly monitored. Workmanship was substandard in many areas, but also did just enough to pass County inspections. I had to constantly monitor his work and that of his subcontractors. He would provide or accept substandard work unless he was called on it. The absolute worst part of this entire project was that it took Sierra Custom Homes 1 1/2 years to build a 800 square foot structure and install replacement windows. Contractor would continually provide project completion dates which he did not keep and he was not honest, e.g. he'd say the supplier lost the order when it had never been placed, etc. It was very frustrating and stressful. It was the longest 1 1/2 years of my life. I finally had to file a complaint with the State Contractor's Board and the Better Business Bureau in order for job to be finished.

When the first rain came, the patio roof leaked. It leaked substantially in the areas they had supposedly repaired, and also the new roof section they had installed. I called the office and was told they'd get around to it, they were very busy. At no time did Mike or anyone else from the company ever return my calls. After getting the run around for over a week, I was told, "You're on the list, but it won't be right away, it'll be a week or so." There were no return calls. By now, it was November - the job was done in August. I called again - they said to call back in a couple of weeks, the holidays were coming, it was a short week, they were busy. When I mentioned filing a complaint against his license, Mike came on the phone and told me it was an existing leak. I reminded him he had been hired to troubleshoot and repair the leak. He then said it was caused by a build-up of leaves on the roof. They had supposedly cleaned the leaves off the roof when they were there. This did not explain why the new section leaked. It was a significant distance from any tree. He eventually came out, took pictures, said it was caused by problems with the house roof - he badmouthed the contractor who had installed the last roof and said the contractor didn't know what he was doing and had done a sloppy job. It was obvious he had no intention of accepting any responsibility or taking care of the leaks. He said he would have his roofer come out and give me a quote to fix the roof. No one ever showed up and I have not heard from them again. I would not, under any circumstances, ever recommend or use this company.
