Recent Review: Came out and measured and provided quote. Due to delays on my end from holidays, travel, and then husband's injury, we did not start job until months later. April 25, he came out and we reviewed quote, and I paid first half. Two cabinet doors taken with advice that they would be back in about two weeks for me to pick the stain color between the two. After four weeks and no response, I contacted. We agreed they would come on May 29, and take cabinet fronts and doors to get started at shop. They started work, and because my husband asked questions, the owner, Jimmy, was saying he needed to back out of this job or "he could be here 6 months" as we wanted too much. We talked this through as it was misunderstanding. So, we proceeded. We were told job would take probably three or four days. Now, Sunday, June 24, almost four weeks later, he came for final repairs/touch up as he had started another job 2 weeks ago, and not had time for us. His guys did come one and a half day during that time. He showed up and it appeared they were done, so I made the mistake of paying the other half. There were a couple of small things that he promised they would be back to finish. My mistake as I did not thoroughly inspect and find all the other issues. There were multiple problems when they got ready to reinstall. The guys told us that they do not normally hang doors and hinges. Said the "carpenter" does that, but he is in hospital, so the boss told them to go ahead. I was readily apparent, they did not know what they were doing, and door and hinges ended up all unlevel. Boss came out and was instructing them to measure where to put things. Most got straightened, by drilling more holes slightly off center of the others, which weakens the stability of the doors. He told us he had fired the other guy, so he would not be back. They did not pull out the oven to strip and stain around edges so husband told them he wanted that done. Did not know they would not put it back right. They could not even put drawers back in correctly. Owner finally came to make corrections, and fixed some, but others including doors that now look warped and gap away from frame due to way they were installed, he just said it is not their fault, and you have to "give and take". He would not do anything about that. I found that they just tightened in top hinges tighter than lower making doors kick out at bottom. He would also not straighten gaps between doors that were further apart at bottom than top. Would not repair drawer glides that they damaged. He worked on it and got it better, but I have to "give and take". They also refinished my front door. They did not take off the hardware and grinded against my new door hardware less than 6 months old - he did pay to replace that. But door came out much darker than requested, and he blamed it on the existing wood. But they did not even properly sand out crack was repaired and it still shows. Although the owner may know his business, his workers do not seem to know so much and don't speak good English making it hard to communicate issues. And when they do communicate, boss gets onto them for agreeing to do things to correct problems. This turned out to be a nightmare from which I do not get to wake up as my cabinets do look better, but have new problems that did not exist before, and it cost me over $4,000 which was a good price if everything had turned out right.
