After taking some time to think things through, here is my honest and truthful review and analysis of the job performed by the provider, Denver Davis: * Drywall repair in washroom, replaced baseboard molding, painted walls and inside of two doors, and added a trap door to a back wall where pipes were exposed. --------------- = Paint job was good (some overlapping of paint on door frame and a few areas missed including a section of a wall mounted shelf; but otherwise, paint job was good). Only one side of the doors were painted which was stated on the work order. The drywall was replaced but only the immediate area that showed damage, and none of the surrounding wall was touched. Insurance agent and floor cleaners had suggested that additional area of the dry wall near the main source of damage should be looked at and considered for repair. Trap door was a cut out portion of dry wall, and nothing special. I have a trap door in another room which was nicely constructed using wood. Baseboard molding didn't exactly match and was a lesser quality than the original. ================== * Drywall repair in living room, replaced baseboard molding on 2 walls, and painted the entire living room including the ceiling. ------------------ = Again, the drywall replaced was limited to a small cut out of wall that was damaged by water. The drywall surrounding the damaged area on the wall was untouched and not replaced, even though it was suggested by the insurance adjuster that it be replaced. Baseboard molding was poor quality and did not match what was in place originally. Does not match the baseboard molding in place throughout the house. Paint job of the living room was quite good. ------------------- Note** - The provider requested half of the monies upfront for supplies and partial labor. I priced the materials, and the dry wall cost about $12.00 and some change; baseboard molding priced at $3.00 and some change, so I am calculating that the materials used had to of cost a total of $50 with a maximum of $100 total. Again, he requested half upfront. I purchased all the paint and at no time was the provider asked to purchase additional materials for painting. I incurred the expense for the paint 100% and the amount was not part of the provider's upfront deposit. ====================== * Paint exterior drip edge, shutters, gates and misc., as well as replace 2 light fixtures outdoors. ---------------------- = Painting of the exterior drip edge was at best, good and satisfactory.. The paint job of the shutters was fair, and the framing along the bay window was absolutely horrible. The job was sloppy and poorly done. The frame had old paint which was peeling, and coming undone. The provider simply painted over the old paint, and now, when the frame is touched, it flakes and crumples, leaving the frame exposed and unpainted. In addition, the provider did not use any painter's tape which resulted in stained window panes with streaks of paint along the sides. The bay window look absolutely horrendous. Terrible job painting this particular area. Furthermore, the outdoor gates were poorly painted. The main entrance gate has gobs of paint that was just slapped on and looks cheap and unprofessional. Clearly, the old paint was not stripped off, nor was the gate wiped down because you can see remnants of dirt and cobwebs that were painted over. The side gates are so badly done, that it is evident that only one coat of paint was used. There are areas that were never painted, and / or areas with streaks that did not cover the old paint. You can see two different shades of blue visible to the naked eye. This job is so embarrassing that it kills me to know that I paid this man to do this job which looks like the work of a 10 year old. Shameful and pathetic. Tree limbs were clipped in order to get to the drip edge. The tree limbs were left on the ground, and never picked up. The provider did not pick up after himself, and also left heavy and large paint stains in areas where he must have poured the paint in preparation of the job. ===================== * The replacing of outdoor light fixtures ------------------- = The two fixtures were replaced, and this job was done very well. ===================== * The provider was also hired to complete a few additional jobs which did not appear on the original work order, but the provider was paid for the work. These jobs include: Repairing a leaking evaporative air conditioner outdoor; repairing a ceiling fan that was not working; and mowing of the backyard lawn. ---------------------- = The repairing of the ceiling fan was completed. The fan originally ran three different speeds, and now, the fan only runs at one speed. The completion of the job was good. ---------------------- = The provider applied silicon on the leaking air conditioner, and stated that it will last the entire year, and possibly a lifetime. The air conditioner began to leak again a few days later. The problem remains, and the patch up solution using silicon by the provider did not work. Not happy knowing I paid the provider and the A/C continues to leak. ---------------------- = The provider was paid to mow the backyard lawn. The job was poorly done. The lawn was not evenly mowed. There were areas where clearly the grass was taller than in other areas. Trimming of edges was badly done, and the provider did not even pick up after himself, nor did he empty the clipping bag on the lawn mower which was part of the job he as hired to do. Unhappy. ========================== Overall, this provider deserves a C / D for the work he was hired to do, and the amount he was paid versus the end result. Absolutely displeased and disappointed. I will never again hire Denver Davis.
