Texas Tornado Storm Shelters
Recent Review: After having received a rebate offer from the North Texas Council of Governments, we decided to have an underground tornado shelter installed at our home in Plano. We researched the different types of shelters available, and settled on the concrete type. We were attracted to Texas Tornado Storm Shelters in McKinney due to their sale price on a 6'x8' shelter. Texas Tornado Storm Shelters is a division of Septic Solutions of McKinney. When Chris came out to do the measurements to make sure the shelter would fit on our small lot, we discovered that it would not. We then opted for the 5'x7' flat top shelter, and in hindsight we are glad to have chosen this shelter even though it is more expensive than the larger shelter due to the fact that it is installed deeper underground and the top is basically flush with ground level. A permit is required to install a shelter in Plano, and Chris spent countless hours preparing the papers which helped us obtain the necessary permit and HOA approval. After a couple of false starts due to a delivery problem and the weather, we now have our shelter installed. Chris is amazing with his Bobcat machinery which has multiple attachments, including a high powered jack hammer which was needed when he hit rock a few feet down. The installation went smoothly, and we were all amazed at how the shelter was shoehorned into our small area. There was no room for error, and none was made. Tiffany, the office manager was extremely helpful throughout the process as well. I know that many other companies would have dropped our project because it was too difficult and time consuming, but Texas Tornado Storm Shelters stuck with us, and we couldn't be happier with our shelter. I am confident that they bring this same work ethic and professionalism to their Septic Solutions business as well.

American Tornado Master
Recent Review: We decided to put in an above ground tornado shelter because of all the tornadoes in the area last year. We had one within 5 miles of our home the other year. I did a lot of research on-line and American Tornado Master was the only local area dealer that had all of their designs tested at Texas Tech Wind Science Engineering Center and engineered to meet or exceed the FEMA 320/361 and the ICC-500 Building codes. The shelter is also well constructed with heavier gauge materials than most of their competitors and they also powder coat the shelter instead of just using paint (more durable). We found the price to be higher than some other competitor's standard prices that I found on-line, but felt the quality and testing of their product was worth the extra cost. I know that they were really busy since it took almost a month and a half to get a salesman to even come out to give us a quote and go over our options. The only thing that I found disappointing was the lack of a firm delivery and installation date. I was told they normally would get the installation done in 3 to 4 weeks, but due to the amount of business they had, they could not be certain. I did not hear anything from the company after 3 weeks and called the office to check on the installation date. They did respond to my calls, but still could not give me a definite delivery date. They did schedule the garage foundation check for cables and plumbing (install prerequisite) during the 4th week. I then received a call on Thursday (4th week) and they asked if an installation on Saturday was OK. I put some of my weekend plans on hold and told them to go ahead since we wanted to get this done. The installers did a good job and were very careful. It took about three and a half hours to have the shelter unloaded and installed. Overall I am very pleased with the quality and workmanship of the tornado shelter. It is also an excellent safe room as well.

Texas Tornado Safe Rooms & Storm Shelters
Recent Review: The team over at Texas tornado was extremely helpful.  In explaining our options and installation process we were confident in our purchase.  There was a bit of a back up due to increased orders due to demand after the OK storms - but our sales rep was great in keeping us in the loop.  Installation was thorough and the process was explained to us.  Flashing had to be removed to get unit in garage but the crews advised us - fixed all back in original shape.  They took the time to review the unit with us and ensure we were happy with the unit.

Storm Dorms LLC
Recent Review: John Wingfield came to our home for a description and estimate for the storm shelter. He showed us photos of the effectiveness of their still-standing shelters amid the total devastation of houses hit by a tornado . We had seen some of the same photos in the newspaper and television, along with interviews of people affected by the storms. Many of these people stressed the necessity of having a safe place to go and that a storm shelter is the best choice. I researched and compared prices, and Storm Dorms met or surpassed their competition, Mr. Wingfield showed us pictures of the shelter itself and recommended sizes (he suggested the smallest one for us). He helped us choose  where to put it, and told  us how the shelter works and provided pictures of it inside and outside. His son and a helper put the shelter together, and I was amazed that the process was less than 2 hours with very little noise or  mess, but they cleaned and touched up any little soiled surface. I am so impressed with the quality of the product and the excellence of its installment. I highly recommend Storm Dorms. Peace of mind is priceless!

Gimme Shelter
Recent Review: After years of researching storm shelters and waiting on the long list for a state rebate that never would be a reality, I could no longer place a price on my piece of mind. There were many factors affecting my decision to purchase from Gimme Shelter: -These shelters are F5 certified, exceeding FEMA 320, 361, and ICC 500 protocols (these are the shelters that we see featured on the news/weather stations undergoing rigorous testing at Texas A&M) -Taylor (the owner) was obviously passionate about not only providing shelter, but doing so with integrity. No gimmicky add-ons, and no extra charges for placing the door with a bullet-proof window on the long side of my unit. -Gimme Shelter is the ONLY co. that includes a 20 yr. transferrable warranty for full replacement of any shelter that is damaged by a storm/tornado. -Due to the fact that it is now "off-season", installation could be scheduled within the week. -After determining placement in my garage and measuring for fit, Taylor saw that I would have to move a large shelf and various items to make space for the shelter. He rolled up his sleeves (in 100 degree temps) and helped me move everything (even taking several items to the attic). YES, this is a lengthy review, but it was an important decision. I cannot express the relief that comes with knowing that I no longer need to crouch in a closet, hoping for the best. I HAVE the best!

FamilySAFE of Texas
Recent Review: Although there was a little bit of a delay in getting the shelter due to increased business from all the tornadoes last year, when we received our shelter it was installed in a couple of hours.  It is bolted securely to our foundation and is solid. What's nice is that this shelter can be removed and relocated to our next home should we ever decide to move.   Very pleased with the transaction and the overall professionalism demonstrated by this company.

From start to finish, Storm Dorms was great to work with. Truly a family run business, John and his team worked with me every step of the way. Very pleased. His install team was fabulous, and the entire shelter was installed in less than two hours. Highly recommend if you're in the market for a storm shelter.

we lost our previous home in the tornado that hit Rowlett, TX on Dec 26, 2015. John Wingfield, at StormDorms was very supportive during this time and helped us to work out what type shelter we needed. We looked at several different companies and Storm Dorms had the sturdiest type of shelter. The building inspector said he has seen may storm shelters, but this was the best made he'd seen.
