Reviews in Chicago to Repair Drywall

AMr. Handyman of Wheaton-Hinsdale
We had a water leak in the basement. To be able to repair it, we needed to open up the wall. Pete came and neatly cut away the drywall to expose the crack. After we had the crack sealed, he came back and replaced and repaired the drywall. He did a great job and was friendly, neat, and professional.

The job went very well. Luis arrived on time.  He worked well with all involved.  He needed to make repairs in 3 separate apartments, moving from one to the next, for each step of the process.  I was not on site; when he had questions he attempted to reach me, and at the end of the day, gave me a report of all that he had done. I would use them again and would ask for Luis in particular.

I have used this company before for painting and they did a great job, so I contacted them about a drywall fix and painting.  They were easy to schedule.  They confirmed the night before.  They showed up on time.  The worker who arrived was very nice and professional.  The job he did was fantastic.   I wasn't sure if a painting company could do a good job on a drywall repair, but the owner Jim assured me they would do a good job.  And they did.  I will continue to use this company.  They have grown over the past few years, but the level of service still seems excellent.  Good job Chicago Painters!

Very prompt to respond to purchase.  Called and I explained that we had a plumbing repair that required a piece of drywall to be removed from the ceiling and needed the hole/space repaired.  Scheduled time. Individual showed up promptly, but without any materials to fix the drywall.  Asked if we had drywall.  Next issue he came up with..... were the dogs. Since this individual was obviously dog unfriendly, they were put in their crates.  He then decided that he could not due the repairs citing that it was because of the dogs.  Really?  They were in their crates.  Called Zoran to discuss this situation and of course there was no answer.  So we still hava a hole in our ceiling and will need to find another service provider.  Awful

Bella T gave me good advice about dealing with homeowner's insurance for a burst pipe. They were efficient and prices were competitive. In the end, I had them repair drywall and flooring. They did an excellent job, better than I was expecting, and better than it was before.

Great experience.  Philip was on time, worked quickly and very diligently.  I thought we were going to have to replace kitchen drawers  but he had fixed them within an hour and we have not had any trouble since. We have already used Budget Right two more times since our first experience.

The door to my garage was hung and was most importantly level. I checked myself and I am pleased at the results. I had two drywall holes that were patched. This was pretty basic work and looks good. The big issues that I had were some nasty drywall tape cracks in my kitchen ceiling and in a vaulted ceiling in a bedroom. The kitchen drywall problem looked to be caused by a water overflow from the floor above. He took his time, added the necessary tape and got rid of any wavy and bumpy areas. The last drywall issue I had was from a pathetic original tape job in the joints of the vaulted ceiling. It was cracked, rounded and looked horrible. Tom?s guy did a great job of making a crisp, straight joint. I am very pleased at the results. The reason I put an N/A in the price is that I am not very familiar with hiring contractor help. I will let the reader of this decide if the price is worth about 11 man hours. To be completely fair, I am pleased with the work and it is definitely a couple of issues that are clear of my thoughts thanks to Tom and his crew. So with that, some people may say it was money well spent. But as I have nothing to compare prices too, I can't give a grade. I can only grade my satisfaction, which is an A.

This was a last minute ask as we noticed some old drywall water damage the day before a planned house full of guests.  Eric provided his crack dry wall expert to come in and patch a very difficult inside corner joint.  When he was finished which included primer and painting, you couldn't tell there was ever an issue.

Jim was great.  Quick to schedule our job after he came out for the estimate.  Completed the job in the time he said.  Gave us a great recommendation on the color too!

Recent Review: Pete came and cleaned out the damaged areas, repaired the drywall holes and replastered the areas. He took great care to get it finished properly. Looks great even without being repainted. He got it done well within the time allotted on the deal, I would not hesitate to hire him again or for something other project.

Recent Review: New drywall was applied over existing drywall on the ceiling and walls of our garage. (When we bought this home 30 years ago, the drywall was finished with a textured, decorative finish. Some of the finish was brushed off as the former owners moved out. Since it was "just the garage" we chose to paint it. We have painted it several times over the years and each time, the textured finish would peel off of freshly painted areas in sheets! We finally decided to simply start over by re-drywalling the area.) The drywall runs were staggered so that the seams were not obvious. Some drywall problems from 30 years ago were fixed before the new drywall was applied. Each piece of drywall was glued with Liquid Nails and pushed into place to spread the glue. The drywall was attached with screws which will decrease the chance of "pop-outs" in the years ahead. In the process of drywalling the ceiling, the garage door opener had to be removed and reattached. Each of the seams was covered with mesh tape (better than paper tape) and a coat of drywall mud was applied. While the drywall mud was drying, the worker installed 4 can lights in the ceiling. Two days later, the first coat of mud was finally dry. I appreciated that the worker did not try to apply the second coat before the first coat was dry. The second coating applied to the seams was a vinyl, smooth finish. On the third day, nearly a full day was spent sanding because the worker sanded the drywall with a hand-held sander, rather than sanding the seams with sandpaper at the end of a long stick. He checked for flaws as he sanded and fixed them. When the sanding was finished, the wall looked and felt very smooth. The worker swept up the drywall dust and then scraped and vacuumed the floor so that it was clean. He planned to mop the floor but we told him that we intended to paint first and then clean the floor. The worker applied the primer paint using a roller, rather than a sprayer. Our walls and ceiling now look great and we are excited about personally finishing the remodeling in the near future. Before he finished the project, the worker adjusted all of the outlets to accommodate the additional layer of drywall. He also bought and installed new stair treads in the stairwell in our garage. The riser were not very wide, so the worker added a piece of 2x2 behind each riser so that the tread could be attached securely. It was a joy to see him work with such capability and constancy.

Recent Review: From my own assessment, it seemed the water in the closet had to be coming from the roof, so I set out to find a company for repairs. Trela was my first call based on other reviews on Angie's list.  Its so nice to have a overall superior experience to report!! From start to finish, I give Trela Roofing an "A."  I received a prompt call back from Robert the company owner with a thorough discussion of my issue.  I had an onsite assessment and estimate within four business days and a team on site within another ten days. WIth record rain this Spring season, roofing work is challenging to schedule and complete in wet or windy conditions.  Trela did their best to schedule my job, given that I had an active leak. A reoccurence of the leak will be the ultimate test, but based on my iexperience with multiple contractors during and since the building of my home, the Trela team was knowledgeable, professional AND efficient. Once the team was on site, they offered a very understandable explanation of the planned repairs, as well as some additional observations about the likely contributing factors to the leak.  I was very impressed with their willingness to make suggestions and not just accept a homeowner's request (aluminum door frame rather than a painted one), but they also looked beyond the scope of the immediate problem to perform some preventative maintenance (extra caulking in some other vulnerable roof areas).  Clean-up was very complete, including vacuuming along their walking path inside my home.  They even adjusted some minor hardware that was knocked askew during their work effort. I'm not able to comment on the competitiveness of their pricing as I didn't pursue other bids.  While initially I had a little sticker shock, I feel good that I received top workmanship. Well done, Trela team!

Used a fiberglass drywall s it will never have to come out again... He went above and beyond repairing some loose bricks in the foundation, even set me up with someone to come replace the baseboards...and his price was so good I ended up with extra insurance $ left over!

Recent Review: Our basement looks gorgeous. Matt was so nice and responsive. The work was ahead of schedule and stayed within the proposed budget. Matt was also amenable to making changes when there was something I didn't like for the woodwork, and he gave suggestions about flooring and light that I wouldn't have thought of and turned out to be better than what I envisioned.
