Tom and his crew came out to remove what we thought was an empty oil tank but discovered it had 44 gallons of oil left in it. After some improvisation they drained the tank and easily removed it. They were great through the whole process, would definitely recommend them.

came as stated: cut apart unused oil tank - removed small amount of sludge - cut off 2 pipes to wall and cemented holes. Cleaned up and removed all remnants of drum when finished. Gave me paper describing how oil sludge would be handled (environment). Was middle of 3 in price proposal.(2 from AngiesList). Used them cause I gave me word before getting less expensive $ proposal and was not comfortable with the way other proposal was handled. Would recommend this company to others.

They told us in advanced that they would charge more for disposing of the 75 gallons of oil that was still in the tank. They left the place looking like there was never a tank in there and they didn't charge us the extra because they said it took less time than they thought it would.

FUnderground Storage Tank Specialists, Inc.
Was Searching for a Company to do a Heating Oil Tank Removal from a Basement Found on the Internet Chicago Tank Removal which they also go by Underground Storage Tank Specialists, Inc Called the Company and Talked to the Owner David L Streich The Initial call started out good. After talking to the owner I put a deposit down and he came out to my Mother Inlaws home. During the process of removing the heating oil from the tank and pumping it into their tank outside the house, a worker backed into their pump which was balanced rather precariously on the top of a step ladder, breaking the connection and heating fuel oil spilled all over the basement floor and under the furnace. My wife had to call me at work because she said there was a lot of swearing, yelling and things being thrown in the basement. My wife became concerned for her safety and I had to call my Brother Inlaw who lives nearby to rush to the house. My wife opened the and asked David if everything was ok and he yelled no its not okay. He mopped the floor and put lysol down. He apologized for his behavior. The following morning I get a call from my mother inlaw that the smell was awful in the house. I contacted David and he said he would make it right. He came out on the Sunday and was scrubbing the floors and was attempting to get the heating oil that leaked under the furnace which blew the fumes throughout the house. David sent me emails stating he would do whatever to make it right and he checked in with me during the week. During the week we had windows open and fans blowing. In the meantime my mother inlaw has not been able to live in her home. So after a week I called David because he said that he wanted to make it right. Well when I gave him a call and told him the smell was still in the house and would probably require a service to come and clean furniture and clothes and drapes and to get under the furnace to clean what was still there. As all I did was ask if he had insurance and all of a sudden he started yelling and swearing at me just like he was doing to his worker when the worker knocked the pump down. I asked him to please not swear I was trying to have peaceful conversation with him. He started saying things like what do you want $100,000 what do you want a new house I was shocked. I said David you are not acting professionally. I told him as all I wanted was to be able to get my mother inlaw back to where she was before the accident his worker caused. David may be professional and polite when things go right. I truly believed during that week he was going to be that business man of his words and was indeed going to make it right. But when I told him his solutions were not working and when I just asked the simple question of do you have insurance he started saying its not his fault and started swearing at me. Now I am having to go through the process of the clean up and attempting to find out if he has insurance and filing complaint with BBB. As all I can say is I am shocked at the way the owner of this business handles customer issues that were caused by negligence on his workers part.

Tom, the owner, gave me a price over the phone. He sent a proposal via e-mail and within two weeks the oil tank was gone. He arranged for the permit and had JULIE out quickly. He made a site visit a day or two prior to the dig to make sure all was set to go. Prior to calling Tom I called two other companies. One visited and said they would mail an estimate. Never heard from them. The other gave an estimate over the phone, said they would come out to look, but never showed. The home heating oil tank was discovered through a home inspection. Cicerco Oil backed a huge oil truck into our driveway and pumped out the 250 gallons of oil (!) still in the tank. Not a drop of oil escaped. Two men hand dug and then cut the tank in pieces to remove. This tank was in a very confined area and pretty much blocked in on all sides by the basement wall, deck, air conditioner and steps leading to the basement. After removal the hole was filled with sand and the top soil replaced and leveled. Tom was a pleasure to deal with, very courteous, pleasant and efficient. His workers were polite and worked hard. I will probably never have an oil tank in my yard again, but if I did I would gladly hire Tom --I highly recommend him to anyone in this situation.

ABest for Less Harry's Handyman
I tried to put in a new tank system with a repair kit. Unfortunately everything seemed to be leaking including the water supply line, so I panicked and called Harry's! He was great, came out within an hour of me calling, solved most of the problems and explained how I could get the last bit done myself (as a new DIY-er I wanted to get to the last part myself so that he could get home and it required a part not obtainable this time of night: I will tackle that in the AM). He was absolutely professional, informative and respectful of me trying to get things done myself. A really great handyman/person! Thanks to Harry!

Recent Review: Carl was very professional from the start. He was very knowledgeable, and considerate throughout. For instance, when I mentioned that I would be renovating my kitchen in the future, he created a separate cap on the gas line to be able to tap into easily for the next plumber when they do the new gas oven. The water heater is very unique, so Carl took extra time to ensure that it was installed perfectly right, and has been back in touch to ensure that all is well. I had quotes from 3 different companies, and Strenger was not cheap, but the best quote for the service performed. And the professionality came through, well worth the money.
